Foug's kickoff hangtime (Feldman article in SI)
Bruce Feldman just posted an article with an assortment of CFB notes, one being some praise for the next round of Don Brown all-stars at Michigan. He also notes how well James Foug is kicking off for us. I'm sure I'd know this had I read the Special Teams UFRs better, but a worthwhile repost:
One other Michigan note: Jim Harbaugh has quite a weapon in kickoff man James Foug. Purdue special teams coordinator Tony Levine told me that in 15 years as a coach he’s never seen a kickoff guy get the kind of hang time Foug gets. Most of his kickoffs end up as touchbacks. The ones that are returned end up with the opponent’s average starting field position at their 17.
Levine says anything over four seconds of hang time on a kickoff is exceptional; Foug’s kicks consistently come in around 4.5. Usually when the returner catches the kick, you want the coverage guys to be inside the 35-yard line; Levine says that by the time Michigan’s opponents receive the ball, the Wolverines’ coverage team is typically inside the 25.

That may be the first time I have seen a kickoff specialist described as a weapon. FOUG!

If that's not a proper battle cry, I don't know what the hell is.

Student section needs to start yelling this during kickoffs. Or holding up some kind of "Foug" hand signal like we used to do with Zoltan Mesko.

He's been on the MONEY all year.
If only our KR team was as good. BUT, that's why we have improvement weeks, I suppose.

It says he is a senior, but this is only his 2nd year on the team. If you are a walk-on, does your 5 years of eligibility start when you enroll at the university or when you start playing for the team?

No doubt the kicking game is in great shape right now ! Robbins did a nice job at Purdue, and Nordin (as good as we've ever had) got a day off.
Go Blue!
