Purdue fans predictions and comments for the Michigan game
To say that some Purdue fans are confident might be a massive understatement. They are riding high right now after upsetting Missouri, and expect no less against Michigan.
I was surfing around Big Ten blogs and message boards and I found a few comments that were a little mouthy from Purdue fans IMO, and I thought I'd post them here - just in case you weren't properly motivated.
Purdue could mess around and beat Michigan next week. Jeff Brohm is a difference maker.

Purdue upsets Michigan next week. You heard it here first
It feels strange to type this, but Purdue is the biggest test Michigan's defense has faced to this point.
Yes, Purdue is good enough to beat Michigan
Purdue has actually beaten Ohio State more times in the last 10 years than Michigan has.
Oh, and we needed fewer tries too.

Brohm is going to scheme against a very strong defense and Purdue is not going to get shut down completely. I am not expecting another 35-42 points, but We’re going to score some. Can we keep Michigan kicking field goals or worse?
I don’t think Michigan has the offensive talent to run away from us, let alone most teams in the Big Ten.
Purdue has more wins over Ohio State since 2004 than Michigan
I say that’s legit.

Michigan is way overrated
I wouldn't be surprised if UM ended up 6 - 6 or 7 - 5. I give UM at least 3 BIG victories because of their defense but unless our offense improves drastically from it's putrid play the previous two weeks against inferior opponents Purdue fans will be celebrating a decisive victory.
I agree with some fans here, if Purdue is able to get an early lead, UM simply doesn't have the offense to score enough points.
If Purdue can't beat UM then Brohm needs to be fired. The Big Ten is way down this year except Penn State which the only team getting a major bowl invite. Harbaugh has nothing to prove this year because if you true football fans have been paying any attention Harbaugh is heading to the Colts next year.
I watched them play a good but not great AFA team yesterday. Their QB did not throw accurately and made some poor decisions. Michigan defense is solid but certainly vulnerable, didn't have much of a pass rush on smaller AFA OL.
We can beat these guys.
Michigan is certainly beatable
Playing in front of a sellout homecoming crowd against atop ten team...I can't see a let down. Michigan could handle them but I dont think it would be because we're not ready to play.
We cannot lose to this clown
Two games in a row with mediocre performances till 4 the qtr. Should Purdue strike early and often by getting points, it might be too late for Michigan to catch up.
This year is different and feels different. We now know how to score with a balanced attack. Our defense plays stingy as well.
Purdue 35 MI 24.
Kids believing in themselves is the key,he is telling them right now lets win our first big ten game at home in front of a sellout crowd, shock the world again.
Purdue will blow the game open if Michigan plays as lethargic as they have in the past two games in the red zone thru 3 quarters. My hunch stays with a track race pace that Michigan cannot keep up with. Holding officially at Purdue 35 Michigan 24.
Michigan is ripe for the picking. I know we haven't beat a ranked team in yrs. It will happen on 9/23.
My guess is that Harbaugh tries to simply out tough and out muscle Purdue (which a team hasn't either tried or been able to) to run them down in the late 3rd and 4th quarter...my guess is that is what Missouri wanted to do but when Purdue got up 21-0 in the first quarter, that went to hell and a hand basket.
If you enjoyed watching us crush Missouri, you'll enjoy what Brohm has in store for Michigan. 42-12 Boilers
The great thing about playing Michigan right now is their quarterback SUCKS! Boiler the fuck up baby!
Brohm has us on a path to 9-3, just like Tiller in '97. We're going to whup that ass on Sept 23 and I'm going to say I told ya so
35-7 Boilermakers. Michigan is garbage.
They can't score in the red zone HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Fuck Michigan
Sellout crowd = huge Purdue win
Michigan is scared
Jeff Brohm > Don Brown
I have been waiting a long, long time for a huge Purdue upset, and I can feel it coming this Saturday against Michigan. For 4 yrs with Hazell we sucked, but now we have a legitimate coach in Brohm. Michigan is 100 percent overrated and 100 percent beatable. They have no idea what's in store for them. Harbaugh's "vaunted offense" has been a complete joke this year. Their defense will have no answer for Brohm's schemes. He's a brilliant play caller. Expect this to be just like the Missouri game. Michigan would get walloped by Missouri… we shut THEM DOWN. Can Michigan even move the ball? Can they even score points? We get through and sack Speight once and HE'S DONE. There is no reason why we can't win this game. Michigan dies officially on September 23, a day that will live in Purdue football history forever.
What a joy it would be to embarrass Michigan on national tv
Stat of the Day:
MICHIGAN SUCKS
Don Brown vs Jeff Brohm? One is a genius and the other coaches for Michigan. Brohm wins every day
Purdue wins and the meltdown from Michigan fans will be EPIC
This will be my daughter's first game and she is so excited to watch us beat Michigan.
Purdue 42, MI 6

is possibly a game where a team (Purdue) could be too amped up and make really costly mistakes early in the game. It is Homecoming, the BTN show is there, people care, it will be a sell out, Top 10 team coming in, etc. This is a different kind of stage.
September 21st, 2017 at 12:08 PM ^
If Purdue can't beat UM then Brohm needs to be fired...
Now that's a real fan right there.
September 21st, 2017 at 12:10 PM ^
Purdue HAS beaten osu more times in teh past decade than Michigan has. But that has absolutely no bearing on this game.
Michigan IS beatable. So is every other team in the country. There is no such thing as an "unbeatable" team.
Purdue's offense probably IS the toughest challenge the Michigan defense has faced to date. But they've played crappy defenses and Michigan's will be, by far, the toughest defense they face all year.
It WOULD be a joy for Purdue fans to beat Michigan on national TV. It won't happen, but it would make them happy for the first time in forever...
The rest of it is garbage.

And against stronger defenses, Michigan still scored 29, 33, and 36 points. Offensive struggles aside, I don't see how Purdue is going to outscore Michigan unless the Iowa juju has made it to Ross-Ade Stadium.
September 21st, 2017 at 1:07 PM ^
I'm not sure Purdue's offense will be the best faced so far. I still think UF would give them a good run, but don't have numbers to back it up. My thinking comes in the form of athletes. UF has far more raw athletic ability across the board than Purdue has. If a UF back or reciever were to break a tackle and get the corner, Michigan might not catch them. If Purdue does that, they'll probably be caught from behind. From that standpoint alone, I'll give UF more respect offensively. Give UF a half decent QB, like Brough (half decent), and there's no comparison.
Defensively, I'll put both UF and AF over Purdue in half a heartbeat, every time.
September 21st, 2017 at 1:26 PM ^
To me, "better offense" relates to comprehensive performance. Better athletes relates to potential at an individual position.
September 21st, 2017 at 1:39 PM ^
UF would have a much better offense than Purdue if they traded their head coach and OCs. As things stand, I doubt they do.
September 21st, 2017 at 12:11 PM ^
Ah let them have their fun, they haven't been able to be excited about anything in a long time.
September 21st, 2017 at 12:11 PM ^
September 21st, 2017 at 12:13 PM ^
You know, good for them being confident in their team. They have just as much reason to think they'll win on Saturday as we do.
September 21st, 2017 at 12:19 PM ^
Negged because they have less reason.
September 21st, 2017 at 12:24 PM ^
I'd actually say they have far less reason to think that
September 21st, 2017 at 12:52 PM ^
Then why are they ten point dogs at home?
September 21st, 2017 at 12:14 PM ^
My favorite is the Michigan fan in the middle there picking Michigan to finish 6-6
September 21st, 2017 at 1:02 PM ^
that was not a michigan fan. its like reverse logic.a purdue fan gets on there says something really negative about their "own team". to show just how bad all the michigan fans think their own team is. brilliant.
September 21st, 2017 at 1:49 PM ^
He is probably the same "Michigan fan" on RCMB that goes by "BigscUMFan".
The best part about the clear sparty fan pretending to be an Michigan fan while saying sparty will improve and michigan is overated, is many there actually believe he is a Michigan fan. There are so many comments sayign "finally a Michigan fan that is not delusional".
September 21st, 2017 at 3:42 PM ^
Fair enough. Still funny to see someone pick 6-6 and be serious
September 21st, 2017 at 12:14 PM ^
Happened at Purdue.
1976 - #1 ranked Michigan rolled into Purdue a heavy favorite and lost 16-14 when two things happened that anybody alive back then remembers:
1. Jim Simith, normally increadibly sure-handed Jim Smith dropped a sure TD pass from Ricky Leach with under 2 minutes to go. He got WAY behind the defense, Leach hit him in stride and he dropped it.
2. Our kicker Bob Wood pushed a 37 yard FG wide right as time expired that would've won the game. If you have any of the old Bob Ufer recordings you'll remember him first saying kick was good then correcting himself to say "no good, no good, no good, no good" over and over and over.
Add that one and the 2000, 2008 & 2009 heartbreakers I've learned these guys, especially at home, to not completely count the game as a win no matter what.
"No good, no good, no good, no good."

My memories of listening to that fucking game are etched into my brain so deeply that they'll be among the last ones to disappear when I get dementia. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing as Ufer moaned "Good, no good, no good, no good...."
But it did generate that absolutely classic headline:

I was listening. It's one of those moments burned into your life.
My dad told me then, that's why Purdue had the nickname "The Spoilermakers." A mostly subpar team that every once in a while pulls off an upset.
They won't get an upset this Saturday however.
September 21st, 2017 at 12:15 PM ^
could very well be a close game, but the idea that we are ripe for a beating is nonsense.
Does hurt to see the "more wins over OSU in fewer tries" though. Ouch.
September 21st, 2017 at 12:41 PM ^
I just don't think it will be by Purdue.

so I don't blame them for that one. It's wishful thinking rather than trolling.

This offense has to begin to come together. We are 1/4 of the way through the season. At some point you are what you are. Really need to turn the corner this week.
September 21st, 2017 at 1:54 PM ^
So very young teams are who they are through 3 week and will remain the same in week 12?
Honestly, you have to question how much football some people on this blog watch.

better execution not play calling. if you knew anything about football you could tell the difference.

I'm not surprised at Purdue's confidence. I know Missouri sucks, but it's still a win over a power 5 school. Purdue fans aren't used to those. I think Purdue will score some points, but Michigan pulls away with TDs from all over. 42-20
September 21st, 2017 at 12:19 PM ^
They were 2-1 last year too....42-10 Michigan
September 21st, 2017 at 12:19 PM ^
that we didn't have much of a pass rush against AFA. They completed one pass on 9 attempts - we had 3 sacks and 3 hurries.
Also, they claim to have the world's biggest drum. I've seen that drum - it's big but not that big.
September 21st, 2017 at 12:43 PM ^
This one is bigger.

September 21st, 2017 at 12:20 PM ^
The most batty (and hilarious) comment in that thread was the guy saying we didn't get much of a pass rush against Air Force. If I recall correctly, Air Force called, maybe 6 pass plays, they completed one and every other featured a Michigan sack, a QB forced to the sidelines, a QB having to throw the ball away, or a QB pressured to throw into massive coverage.
September 21st, 2017 at 1:09 PM ^
That stuck out to me too. I think they attempted 9 passes in the game. We had 3 sacks and 3 QB hurries.
September 21st, 2017 at 12:23 PM ^
They literally don't have a sellout crowd, so I'm not sure why they've referenced it so many times.
7 of the stadium sections have medium or above availability remaining and the game is in two days. Then more than a dozen sections with low availability and a handful with single seats.
Overall, it's probably in the 85-90% sold out range, but Purdue fans need to simmer down given they can't sellout their 57,000 person stadium on homecoming against a Top Ten team from a border state that will send plenty of visiting fans.
September 21st, 2017 at 12:53 PM ^
Honest question:
How much of this "sellout crowd" is aided by what will likely be a large contingent of Michigan fans coming in for the game? I don't think Michigan fans will be the majority unless the game turns into Blowout City, but not unreasonable to think they'll comprise at least 30% of the butts in seats.
September 21st, 2017 at 3:26 PM ^
I think 30% is a little ambitous, but you never know.
I'd guess more in the 15-20% range, around 10,000 in total.
