OT: Thanks for all the baseball advice, MGoBlog. It worked!
Many thanks to those of you who offered advice to me (really, my son) on playing baseball in college. I listened and passed it on to him, and tonight, he got his first offer to play D3 baseball at Denison. We'd be thrilled if he ends up playing there. He's looking at one more Ohio school, then decision time. I know this is really OT during football season, but I just couldn't keep it to myself.

Congrats to him - it's tough work being an athelete and keeping up with one's studies. Best of luck to him.

First and foremost, congratulations to your son!
Hopefully, wherever he goes, he has an awesome time athletically and academically.
Sometimes, this is a useful community, eh?

I have worked with so many amazing Denison grads and they have nothing but good things to say about the school. Congrats!

+1
My old boss is on the board of trustees, so I became somewhat familiar through him. A bit of a hidden gem.
Good luck to him!

Glad to hear the great news. I don't recall if your son is in 11th or 12th grade, but we have an 11th grade son who is both too undersized and under-athletic to earn any sort of sports-related offer...so I can only imagine your level of excitement.
Looking forward to hearing where he ends up!

when my son got his UM full ride Engineering scholarship. That event and then opening our mortgage statement yesterday and seeing a balance owed of $880 are directly related. Party in November at our house!

I passed on D3 Football to attend U of M. Always regret it until I remember I met my wife randomly in S Quad. Life is totally different otherwise, I guess. :)

Reminds me of the time when I turned down several D3 baseball opportunities to try to walk on at Michigan. So happens that was same year Larkin, Kamieniecki, Watters, Close, etc. came aboard and Sabo, Morris, Paciorek, etc. were Sophomores. Middaugh gave me a choice of bullpen catcher with very little hope of seeing the field or student manager. I chose option 3, school. A wise choice. Glory days.

Congrats!
Sometimes, D3 schools can surprise incoming players with how many other freshmen have been offered to play and there's still tryouts. I had a player tell me many freshmen who came to his school to play ended up being cut. Luckily he wasnt'! So make sure he stays on his toes and keeps working hard! :)
