Pete and the Selachimorphiliac Discuss UF/UM, Display Predictably Poor Knowledge of Chess
Didn't see this posted yet. Pete and the Shark Humper discuss the UF QB situation and use the term "checkmate" as a verb, and also incorrectly.

If one were to believe for a moment that the depth chart IS the depth chart and then look at Florida's depth chart, yeah, one would see that they are still quite undecided about who exactly will get the lion's share of the snaps at QB.
Although, from the sound of the Florida blogosphere, that might be the actual situation - that is, who the hell knows.

I actually thought he said "my monkey's on you." which would fit in better with a shark-humper... I guess. This was a bizarre interview.

It seems that the chess player in question is not Bobby Fischer, but instead the player who inspired the film searching for bobby fischer.
The fact that Jim followed the chess career of a lesser known grand master closely enough to recognized him in public, makes me feel pretty confident that he would destroy the shark enthusiast in a game of chess.

I don't know. McElwain could be a real chess shark.

Yeah, his whole "I'll let the knight do his thing" is absolutely the deep analytical discussion about chess you expect from a man who ALLEGEDLY humped a shark.

Hopefully we get a chess tweet from Harbaugh after another W vs. Florida.

Haha, that would be brilliant. Just "Checkmate."
August 29th, 2017 at 12:25 PM ^
Yup. That would be a brilliant tweet.

"If you make that move, I will checkmate you." Chess anologies are almost always flawed, usually badly so.

I stand corrected. Pete Finebaum is the superior intellect.

I wonder what it was like to fuck a shark?

I'm normally a big fan of learning new things. But this? Nope. I don't care to know what fucking a shark feels like.

Supposedly it's some ex-NYPD. No evidence has been presented. I don't believe it.

This does not, like, seem to be a realistic scenario.

When using chess as an analogy for football, releasing the team roster is about as far away from checkmate as it gets.

Damn Jeffe, I want the last 2 minutes of my life back. Really not worth the time.

I feel bad for McElwain because he clearly was unprepared for the chess analogy and tried to flub his way through to a semi-coherent point. It's almost adorable.
But Pete remains as idiotic as ever.
