Fall Camp Notes: QB Battle is Real
Steve Lorenz of 247 is reporting that...
The quarterback battle "is real" and is "far more intense than last year".
He has some other fall camp tidbits, but the article is paywalled, so I won't mention them here. Needless to say, though, I'm very surprised by this development. Hopefully this means that Peters is performing above expectations, rather than that Speight is regressing or plateauing.

I think he has an agreement with Rivals? So no freebies here during the season.

If Peters (or even O'Korn??) wins this battle it will mean that they are going to provide us with better QB play than Speight did last year, and I thought Speight did a damn fine job. Exciting news.

I was going to snark a reply that all insurance companies fit that bill, but upon reflection I have to say that Citizens/Hanover has been great to deal with for auto claims (multiple...I have teen drivers) for me.

Agreed. Everyone who is eligible should try USAA. They're fantastic.

Very easy to deal with, great rates and great loyalty. Most unlike most insurance companies in the best way possible.

100% agree!! Have never had a experience with USAA that they didn't go above and beyond in the both cost and service department.
Switched from Allstate then Citizens to their home policy also and it is has even better rates to go with the service.
Agree about USAA. Their corporate identity is terriific and permeates the ranks of their employees.
I deal with subpoenas for records such as insurance records and Citizens/Hanover is always super quick and friendly to deal with on the phone. State Farm is pretty good too.
I've been very happy with them handling my vehicle and homeowners insurance.

Purdue was in good hands with (Mike) Alstott!
They also screwed me over when I moved out of state and canceled my coverage. It was at a time when I was a broke student and couldn't afford the auto-pay they still took out despite me calling three times to assure my coverage was canceled.
Per the many body shop owners I work with Progressive and Geico have the tightest reimbursement policies forcing repairs with non-OEM parts and cut corners. It makes it difficult to properly repair your vehicle. Their vehicle owners return with the highest percentage of complaints. They also obviously have very large marketing budgets, so I suppose that is where your premiums go.
back then, the adjusters from other company's had a joke about Allstate. They would grab their crotch with both hands and say "Your in good hands with Allstate". Pedictable? yeah, but never the less that's how Allstate was looked at by other employees in the business.

I do it myself. . .
You saying Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball?

FYI, I just learned this recently, but the All State Guy above played Pedro Serrano in "Major League," the Cuban exile voodoo worshipping power hitter... Fun fact...
Come on, man, it's been a long day...

than last year, I don't think that's because Speight is doing poorly.
and we got our first taste of it during the Spring Game. Who ever wins this battle will be deserving and I would guess both are improving daily which just means good things for UM football this season.

I really like hearing this. It will further reaffirm to me that whoever is the starter truly deserves to be there

Have you not felt that way with Harbaugh? Or do you mean when Hoke/Brandon/The Noid thought Shane should start that one game?
August 2nd, 2017 at 11:16 AM ^
I suppose I was just restating the obvious. Yes, since Harbaugh has been here I do feel confident that whoever trots out onto the field at any position has earned it and is going to give the team the best shot to win

Shane was a great kid, I think he could coach one day but man he was woefully unprepared to play QB at Michigan
August 3rd, 2017 at 12:20 AM ^
Doubtful of this. He's quite literally a loose cannon.

Harbaugh's had a "REAL" QB battle every year. Until game week.
HTTV last year was sure it would be O'Korn based on camp/practice reports.
Rudock was in a battle with Shane Morris http://www.hawkcentral.com/story/sports/college/iowa/football/2015/04/16/jim-harbaugh-makes-first-public-remarks-jake-rudock-transfer/25883501/
My money is still on Speight, but glad that there's competition.

And we'll get to see Mr. peters do his thing. Anyone heard anything about Malzone?
At least three really bad things have to happen before he sees the field ahead of Malzone.
My point is all 3 of those guys have to be pretty much out for the rest of the season before they burn McCaffrey's redshirt. Players frequently make 4th string without anything bad happening.
Four QBs saw the field against Hawaii last year. Malzone was one of them. Brandon Peters wasn't. If 4 QBs see the field against Cincinnatti or Purdue, I bet the 4th is Malzone, not McCaffrey. That means Malzone is 4th string and McCaffrey is redshirting. If 2 or 3 of the QBs ahead of Malzone get serious injuries, then look for McCaffrey to move ahead of Malzone.
I'll take that bet: 1,000 Mgopoints.
