OT: Ryan Mallet has a bad practice with the Ravens
It's still OT season, right? Apparently Ryan Mallet had a rough go of it at practice yesterday:

Other (state of) Michigan connections in the article include John Harbaugh (obviously) and former Lions coach Marty Mornhinweg (the offensive coordinator). There's also a Kaepernick angle (never mind that they apparently passed on that opportunity).
Henne! Henne! Henne!?
You missed the part where half of his passes were batted down at the line even though he's 8ft tall.
It was both...and Henne to be fair. We had a stretch there where our QBs literally couldn't get the ball over the LOS.
Thank God for Nick Sheridan. He broke that trend like a BOSS!
I had no idea he was still in the league. Something tells me he is about to lose his cushy Backup QB job. Backup QB is the best job in the league. They wear the red jersey in practice and seldom play. They probably have less risk of CTE than anyone besides kickers.
And they still get paid...
He's more of a clipboard, head-set guy. Let's not expect more than that from him
Fine. I'll do that job for half price.
Why so much Ryan Mallet hate? I wasn't here when he bolted from Rich Rod, so I don't know the backstory this site provides on nearly everything. I mean, I know he's not a rocket scientist, but jeez!
I never blamed him, or Carr, for him leaving when he did. If I had his skillset (that was soo different from what RR preferred), I would have left, too...
So why the hate? Am I missing backstory?
Took his pick-up truck to Carr's carwash charity and didn't pay a dime and then left. Oops, that was Baby Boren.
I distinctly remember the shouting match he and Manningham had on the sidelines in 2007. Uncomfortable. World class arm, world class jerk. Because in Mallet's case apparently you can't have one without the other.
It made sense for him and I certainly wasn't sorry to see him go. As you are seeing, that had little to do with why he's disliked.
Who knows for sure- but had he stayed I think RR would have crafted a passing spread offense and we probably go 6-5 instead of 3-9. Though Shaun King was more mobile than Mallett, he still was largely a passer when he had a big year at Tulane under RR (as OC).
From talking to those on campus at the time though and a couple of those on the team, he was a first class jerk.
This board shows an abundance of tolerence and good will.
NOT.
I don't know Ryan Mallet, but I do not blame him for transferring from M at the time he did. To Bad mouth a kid on that basis is questionable at best.
I just thought about it and then I said to myself, if we make threads on DUIs they happen, that would just be stupid...I'll go back and just mention it in the Mallett thread.
I bet someone makes a thread on it...and then I bet tomorrow someone else makes a thread on it.
A thread bet says a poster posts the Lincoln Shot poster in that thread.
President Lincoln was shot? When did that happen?
Tomorrow, maybe Monday. Just wait.
I'm predicting that John Harbaugh will be the coach of the Lions for the 2018 season. Both the Ravens and Lions have had terrible off seasons with injuries which will lead to bad seasons.
The Harbaughs are a close family and I'm guessing they want to be close so it makes alot of sense.
I could see John Harbaugh coaching at Illinois in a few years. I have no idea why Illinois doesn't have a great Football program.
...and that's a pretty high ceiling.
It certainly wasn't Zook. They've won conference titles under seven different coaches; Zook wasn't one of them. I don't see any reason they couldn't be where Wisconsin is; Wisconsin was where Illinois is now, before Alvarez. Every B1G school is one good coach or AD hire away from respectability. (Except for Indiana, maybe.)
This would be awesome if it happened. Although I'd hate to see John Harbaugh's career destroyed. Seems like ex-Lions coaches rarely sniff another NFL head coaching position. They either retire or are put off to pasture as assistant coaches.
