Pete Nance To NW
I hope that didn't come off as a call out, I was more just shocked by the news. But I guess Donlon+Johns should've had our collective radar up more.
There will always be a miss or two in recruiting. Easy to own those. It would piss me off more if I had information wrong regarding the current teams at UM. Take pride in that.
he was introduced to David DeJulius at team camp this weekend along with Larry Nance Sr.
This is certainly a big surprise, but not disappointing in my opinion.
Pete had some tools, but was a long way from contributing at the high major level from a physical and skill standpoint.
care to elaborate? did UM back off or did Donlon nab him?
If we land Hunter and Brazdeikis then I am not disappointed. That said the idea of a developed Nance as an upperclassmen under Beilein was pretty damn tantalizing. I think a lot of our recent recruits have been more developmental as prospects so Nance's potential sure looked awfully good.
Considering there will be attrition, as there always is, Nance seemed like an ideal fit to be tucked away and developed for a couple years. I don't think it would be surprising to end up with 6 open scholarships for the 18 class. Though I can also see that being a less than appealing option for him as well. With Livers and now Johns in the fold the opportunity for playing time is certainly greater at NW.
Bingo. who cares about immediate contributors. We get plenty of those who leave us the second the NBA says they might pick them with the 28th pick. We need some guys who have good ceilings but will stay all 4 years.
DJ WIlson was a developmental project for almost 2.5 years. He played well for half a season then turned pro. So maybe after Nance developed he would also bolt for the NBA.
Still surprised.
Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's
Jinx.
is such a big loss, or if Beilein is necessarily seeing it that way. M is on track for a lot of fine players right now. Their job will be to beat the crap out of N'western.
We didn't really want him. He's not that good anyway. NW cheated and paid him off.
I learned that on RCMB. Seems to work for them.
Am I doing it right?
You forgot that the offer wasnt really comittable anyways.
Other than that though it looks like you've learned well grasshopper.
Do you feel good about yourself? Hmmmm??? Stealing from an adorable little puppy? For shame...
I thought you were a kitten.
Now I feel awful. One of my own kind.
thats why the picture is gone, though it changes back sometimes.
you heard it here first. FM + CJK5H. notice how you never see the two of them together? yep, they are the same dude.
Not really. But would you mind "setting me up" with a "honey pot" for some videos that "compromise me" vis-a-vis a few dozen local "pros"??? I need some good kompromat!
did you?
N'W basketball is on a tear, well for N'W anyway. They have Chris Collins, made the Tournament, now are starting to get recruits.
while sitting on the cooler.
guess not incredibly surprising in light of the coaching move, but still. Onward!

Maybe this well turn out for the better and JB will go after some more higher rated college ready guys.
They are renovating, but the joke was too good to pass up.

Maizen, could you enlighten us as to how we should feel about this?
(I am sorry to see Nance go to Northwestern, but (a) Northwestern had long been in the discussion, and (b) Donlon heading there sure did not hurt their pitch. Northwestern's a very good school, but I'm not sure that one NCAA appearance has somehow turned it into a good basketball school.
Anyway, I hope Nance has a good run at Northwestern, except when playing Michigan.)
Not cool Northwestern, not cool...
So... does this mean he won't be visiting this weekend?
he seemed like he would have been a good fit and a good kid, Second Nance we missed on and if he has a college career like his bro then I will be upset. I thought for sure we were gonna get Nance but i will take Hunter instead. I like the Thompson kid from Minnesota but he is gonna be hard to get. His dad is legacy at Gopher land. Lets finish out the class with Jerome Hunter, Noah Locke, and Thompson. That would be a nice haul.

(edit) forgot about the One and Only Iggy. Hopefully we get him also. Might have 6 open schollys but hope only 5.
Never unhappy to see them get a couple decent players (just not more than that). Johns is a great pickup for us. Would have been nice to add Nance but not sure what impact he'll ultimately make. Time will tell. I trust in Beilein.
GO BLUE!!
