Clark before Strib? Didn't see that coming.
That makes two of us. I'm glad Clark got drafted, and I'm not surprised that he did, but Stribling produced on the field, too. Maybe teams were spooked about his measurables. (Didn't seem to harm Florida's Tabor, though ...)
It makes perfect sense. He has prototypical NFL size and was dead-even in the eyes of Harbaugh before getting injured. High value pick IMO.
there were quite a few NFL teams who liked Jeremy Clark a lot and most had him over Stribling. They think he's a better athlete with loose hips and height to be a quality starting CB down the road.
The difference was run D.
I'd give Stribling a slight edge over Clark in coverage, but his run D was bad enough to be deliberately targeted by opponents. That was in part because Brown makes his CBs defend the run and in part because last year's D didn't give offenses much to pick on to begin with, so his UFR minuses were probably inflated. Having said that, Stribling's run D is. . . not good, and Strib isn't quite so dominant in coverage to have Deion Sanders privilege. Clark was strong against the run, so if not for the injury I took him for a sleeper pick.
I'm... stunned. Really didn't think he'd get taken at all. Before Stribling?
Great for him. He'll be ecstatic.
Not bad for a 2/3-star safety prospect from Kentucky.
Congrats, Jeremy!
but I knew people shouldn't sleep on him! If he fully recovers from his injury the Jets got a real steal!
three away from tying the record. Smith, Stribling, and Godin?
I'd be surprised if Godin got drafted, but not that surprised. He got minutes on a D-line full of NFL talent.
Stribling goes this round too.
Maybe the Ravens will take Wolverines in one of their irrelevant th round picks to help Jim?
I was talking about 7th round. If someone takes Stribling and Smith, maybe they take Godin just to get Michigan to 14.
If he recovers from his injury, he will absolutely be a good player in the NFL. I hope the Jets stay patient and truly give Clark a chance to prove himself. He's an excellent fit in the Jets defensive scheme.
But I'm surprised he was picked before Channing Stribling.
The NFL.com guys theorizing that the Jets suspect he might not be ready for this season, but looking at his measurables for time to come. Time to learn the system while he makes his way to full recovery.
With so many M guys landing, it's about time one of the NYC teams got a guy I can root for locally. The Jets & Giants used to always have at least one or two on the roster, but they haven't drafted anybody for a few years.
unfortunately they havent had a ton of options in recent years...fortunately thats changing and hopefully in a big way beyond just this monster class

Good point. (had to write something in both places)
I'm simply overly giddy about. Kudos to the young man...
It's crazy. We still have tons of talent back there too with Hurst, Gary, and Mccray etc. Hoke could recruit defense. His OL and QB choices were wtf for the most part.
We were a good team?
we could be headed for a record. Wow.
...Harbaugh's 2016 and 2017 classes will be even more productive than Hoke's 2012 and 2013 classes.
Stribling is 6'1"/6'2" and he can play. Throughout last summer and all of fall camp, we heard about Strbling and Clark battling for that other starting CB job. Both played very well as seniors.
I trust that Strbling's game will translate to the NFL level.
...like Channing Stribling and Ben Braden.
Nope, but Chad Kelly did, lol.
