Is there a story behind Donovan Johnson
And the lack of interest from the in state schools? I believe he ended up signing with Penn St. Michigan didn't offer, even after the numbers crunch opened up, and after looking into other DB options. State never offered and they had availability, and took Reid, another Cass Tech kid. He ran a 4.3 at the Opening, and was a consensus 4 star kid. Just wondering if anyone had any insight?

Someone in a previous post said he is closer to 5'6" than the 5'10" he's listed at, too short to be a CB in Don Brown's system.

How did someone manage to fuck up by 4 inches
February 3rd, 2017 at 8:25 AM ^
In high school, he was listed at 6'3", 200. He was 5'10", 180 on his best day.

Curious, what was his and why was it so special?

During football season in my senior year of HS I played at 6' 180 lbs. I was listed as 6'2" and 195. Looked a lot better as a safety prospect.

We're all taller than on Earth.

All players in HS inflate their measurements to look better to college teams. And even many in college are listed as taller and heavier than they are. Don't get accurate measurements until the NFL combine.

lol like he had anything to do with the choice of what number to put down
February 3rd, 2017 at 12:17 PM ^
Harbaugh does that as well. Or Saban..I would think that if the goal is the NFL, and people will know the number anyways, why not just list it as accurately as you can. Ultimately you'll never fool anyone into thinking you're taller than you are all the until draft day.

I've always wondered how accurate the measurements at the Nike/Rivals/etc camps are. I mean, I've watched them weigh and measure the recruits as they check in, but there's nothing stopping the person recording those measurements from writing down something inflated.
And I've also seen recruits skip that whole process altogether.

My father in-law gave his height as 1" taller than me. We were standing next to each other and he was 1" shorter.
February 3rd, 2017 at 5:27 PM ^
What he's not telling you is that that's his "shoe" height.
Sidenote: I know a guy who is pretty short (probably around 5'5" barefoot). He has the thickest soled shoes and I'm pretty sure he also has those gel inserts. All told, I think it adds a solid 1.5-2" to his height.

All the women I know tend to take a couple inches off of the measurements I tell them.

Well your smile should count for something right?

If they take a couple inches off, wouldn't that put you in the negatives?

It's done on purpose. You'll very rarely see someone listed as shorter than 5'9".
February 3rd, 2017 at 9:54 AM ^
or Tarik?

matched up against Nico in a year or two.

Michigan just can't go back to having the Boubakar-ish undersized corners anymore. It just doesn't work out defending big receivers or stopping the run well.
February 3rd, 2017 at 11:12 AM ^
Finally somebody mentions Boubacar Cissoko haha. I've been waiting
What a bust
February 3rd, 2017 at 11:58 AM ^
Pretty sure he ended up pulling a firearm on some guy and getting arrested.
Not a great ending to the Boubacar story.

Yeah he got locked up pretty early in his career

They really did, because Wade is small. Is Lamont Wade the kid Michigan wanted to come and camp for an offer, and he refused? The thinking was he was on the smaller side, so they wanted to see him in camp before an offer.

February 3rd, 2017 at 10:07 AM ^
Which means he's really 5'4".
February 3rd, 2017 at 10:12 AM ^
February 3rd, 2017 at 11:33 AM ^
I think Lamont Wade's size was the reason why they asked him to come to camp to earn an offer. I think they wanted to see in person how he played relative to his size.

I know you was asking Magnus but allow me to chime in. IMO heck no. St.Juste is one of my sleepers in this years class. Kids got great foot work and lengthy to boot.
February 3rd, 2017 at 9:57 AM ^
No, I think St-Juste will be the superior player. Michigan has made big corners work in recent years, and I think St-Juste made some positive strides between last year and this year.
February 3rd, 2017 at 8:37 AM ^
There was a big size mismatch on the edge. Our cornerback towered over one of the Northwestern wideouts. Our guy: 5'11" Ty Law. Their guy was 5'4". I miss those days.

Peppers was a cover corner?

at Michigan over the years, but I honestly don't think anyone was better than Lewis. The dominant DLine helped, but wow that kid was sticky.
