"He told me they use a lot of spread next year and he's saying I can be that X-position (outside receiver) and be a main factor," he told the site.

Similar to how O'Korn was the best QB on the team not just during spractice 2016, but the 2015 season?
I take practice reports with a bag of salt now because of that.

Peters is a pocket passing pro-style QB. He is more mobile than Speight, but he is not a running QB. O'Korn isn't a running QB, either, or he would have been better in Hermann's offense at Houston.
My God, when are people going to learn the difference?

Who is to say our "Spread" is going to need a running QB? Many versions of the spread exist. If we had a power run game along with a spread passing attack I will never complain about our offense.

Reflecting the spread to pass NFL pro style attacks of the last few years.

use primarily quick passes? I'm thinking about something like Tiller used at Purdue. If I was going to choose an offense to cover for a weak OL, that would be it. Also Evans as the starting RB is a perfect fit. I'm still skeptical that would be our primary offensive look, more likely something to mix in a bit more.

Passing spreads tend to have lower per pass sack rates.
"The other surprising feature to me is how strong the relationship between non-garbage passing attempts and non-garbage sack rate is. It seems the more you pass the ball the better you get at avoiding sacks on a per play basis."

Agree, we don't have to run the power spread with running QBs like Urban Meyer runs. It'll be more of a passing spread with 4 WRs, I think.

The Patriots have been running a hybrid spread out of the pro set for years and Brady has run it just fine. I think that's what we will see from Harbaugh next year as opposed to going totally to the spread and making the QB run a lot.

Well with Frey here who has been in a "spread" system, it isn't a lie.
2017 could be fun even if we aren't in the position to win a Big Ten Title.

My guess is that if Harbaugh is indeed planning to make such signifant changes to the offense next season, he's doing it because he thinks it gives us the best chance to win a Big Ten title despite having lost so much talent and experience from this year's team. Yet another thing to love about Harbaugh: he will never settle for second best, no matter how his team stacks up on paper.
