He mentally decommitted months ago. Nobody was counting on him being here in the fall.

Shame, that walking dead commitment was one of my favorites
January 22nd, 2017 at 5:28 PM ^
It's pretty funny that he and BR went through such a production for a commitment that he was probably never more than 60% solid on.
Oh well, we are dealing with 17 year old kids. If you were ever certain of a major decision at that point in life then you are probably Yoda.

Yeah, his name made me think of orange sherbet ice cream. Big softy anyway! He made the right choice. Guy wasn't mean enough in my opinion. We want tough guys.
January 23rd, 2017 at 11:41 AM ^
No doubt we are dealing with 17 year olds, but I remember when I was 17, I understood what the definition of commitment was. Maybe I had parents who taught me the importance of sticking to your word no matter what. I don't know, but I would never commit to something unless I was 100%. Recruiting is dumb.
January 23rd, 2017 at 2:12 PM ^
Same here, but I have exceptional parents (which is not meant to insult Kai-Leon's). I never committed to a school because I knew that I wanted to walk on at Michigan, but there were plenty of visits that had me feeling very much at home while I was on campus.

I am under the impression Drevno is leaving within the next couple of years. Somebody is going to give him a shot.
January 23rd, 2017 at 11:47 AM ^
I would love to see Drevno get a chance to move up, but maybe I would like to see him prove his worth first. What I have seen so far leaves me unimpressed, maybe when his recruits get in, and this line improves and our offense doesn't sputter when it counts the most, then he can go be a HC somewhere else. But why would anyone hire him now???

To be fair he really wanted play OT in college and he is 100% a guard. Not that we are crazy deep at guard either, but if someone was hoping that Herbert would help our OT spots next fall then that was misguided.

Showed their true colors. Well the damn kid hasn't been solidly committed to the team since that video it seems. Of coarse the staff is going to doubt is allegiance to the team. What fantasy world do these fucking spoiled brat cry babies live in now days? He is the one who planned a visit to Florida right before signing day. I'm sorry but I cant remain positive and sugar coat that the kid is a young little jackass.

"Just things went south." (bagmen make for a more 'lucrative' career in the south)
"They showed their true colors and it wasn't for me" (instead of greenbacks, all Michigan promised him was a chance to compete for the MAIZE and BLUE, and a World-Class Education/Degree.)

Filiaga is probably the second most important recruit in the class because he will start from day one. Wilson and Herbert would not.

Huh? We have 5 other OLineman committed, with two probably to see significant playing time next year.
Yea losing Wilson and Leatherwood sucked. But Ruiz maybe the best interior lineman croot out there, and Filiaga is a pretty polished OT coming out of high school.

Wonder how much of it is being able to sell results. Looking at it from the recruit's perspective, Michigan hasn't been a good school for offensive linemen for pretty much most of their life, and Harbaugh's success at Stanford was almost half a life time ago for the guys he's recruiting.
Would be pretty easy for other coaches to negatively recruit Michigan and Harbaugh's offensive line development. As crazy as that may sound.

What does this mean? Did we ignore him when we thought we had Wilson? This is not a cool statement about Michigan, granted it's from a teenager.
Anyone have insight??? Bothers me when prospects speak ill of Michigan. I can understand if we pull a scholorship offer late in the game but don't think that was the case here.
