Franklin probably said he needed to see if his mom is hot before he would let him sign.

Franklin will eventually have a messy divorce brought on by numerous extra marital affairs.

I'd prefer a tackle but okay.

He's fine. He's extremely raw. Juwann Bushell-Beatty-like but bigger.

Why is Becton a better bet than the more highly rated Austin Jackson?
January 16th, 2017 at 5:23 PM ^
Jackson hasn't visited and won't.

He may be replacement for Kai Leon Herbert since he's appearing to be unsettled.
January 16th, 2017 at 6:49 PM ^
Exactly. This is replacing Herbert...nothing to do with the OT spot, IMO.

Yet he's taking an official visit to Ann Arbor. Intriguing.

Interesting. Maybe he like JUST found out about the Sandusky stuff? You know, some people don't really follow the news and such...

If Dad is legacy then the Zordich visit could really pay dividends.
Edit: More interesting Zordich link to Dad is below.

Can he play OT or DT, not even joking
January 16th, 2017 at 4:46 PM ^
He's 6'3" and 315, so he might actually have a chance at DT just based on his measurables and he had a good performance at the AA he played in.
January 16th, 2017 at 11:37 PM ^
He is listed at that height but he is for sure bigger than that. My brother played against them in the State playoffs this year and I stand slightly over 6'3" and when he walked by he was at least 2-3 inches taller than me. Now i know cleats and what not but he was definitley bigger than a standard 6'3 guy.
January 16th, 2017 at 4:50 PM ^
He could. He played defense in high school.
January 16th, 2017 at 5:10 PM ^
If he's a realistic option to play DT in college that would be very nice insurance as the Soloman (no matter what optimism Webb has offered) and Tufele recruitments have not been trending well for some time. We probably miss on both, so flipping Thorpe would be nice. And even if he plays OG fuck PSU, would be nice to flip one of there's regardless.

dude is HUGE......
January 16th, 2017 at 9:19 PM ^
holy shit... kid has a mean streak. Looks like a brawler.
January 16th, 2017 at 6:51 PM ^
I still don't understand why we're not putting the full court press on Slaton to play DT. Fits a need, keeps Herbert, AND it's the position he wants to play.
January 16th, 2017 at 7:02 PM ^
Not long ago he wanted to play basketball and had WMU as one of his top schools. Suddenly he wants to play DT. His leaders have been changing by the week. Before UF it was Kentucky and now he's interested in Ole Miss. Then there are academics. He still hasn't taken an OV anywhere,
Recruiting him must be an adventure. One you have no idea how it might end. I don't for a minute believe we lost interest because he wants to play defense.

likely means academic issues

This is the same guy whose dad called Urban Meyer and told him to stop recruiting him.
“Urban Meyer called my dad and he told him he should stop recruiting me because it’s not going to happen,” Thorpe told ESPN. “After I got my Penn State offer Urban called my dad and then he fell off the face of the earth. I didn’t know what happened and thought Ohio State was just not offering me, but I talked to my dad a year after the call and he was like, ‘Yeah, I told him he can’t recruit you.’”

Zordich and his dad were teammates at Penn State fwiw.

I get how ridiculous fandom is, but holy shit that's terrible parenting. To take an opportunity away from your son and not tell him until a year later blows my mind.

January 16th, 2017 at 5:16 PM ^
Oh idk to play for a 3 time national championship winning coach who sends guys to the NFL left and right instead of Field Goal Franklin.
I don't mind him not wanting him to play for Meyer, but don't do it behind your son's back.
January 16th, 2017 at 5:33 PM ^
He didn't take any opportunity away. When Meyer called the father he was told it was a waste of time to continue pursuing the son. Meyer could have contacted the son through his coach if he wanted to determine whether the father's take was shared by the son.
January 16th, 2017 at 5:52 PM ^
Going behind dad's back would just cause more problems.
While CJ is a great player, he would be one of the lowest rated recruits on OSU's death star recruiting class this year. Not worth the hassle and potential negative PR.
January 16th, 2017 at 6:09 PM ^
Have to agree, going behind dad's back would be a shitastic thing to do and would piss off parents everywhere. Not worth one player. Meyer did right by not going back.
Granted that it was a shitty thing for dad to do... If you hate the school/coach that much, make sure the kid knows why. But let him make his own decision.
January 16th, 2017 at 6:23 PM ^
that your dad never told you that you cant go/do something when you were 17/18..... that your dad let you make all your own decisions .... chris spielman's dad told him "no way" are you going to michigan, even though he was leaning to going to uofm.... you guys sound like "participation trophy kids" -- sometimes "because i said so" is explanation enough..
January 16th, 2017 at 6:55 PM ^
Uh. Yeah. My dad didn't try to make my college choice decision for me and I suspect most people on here are in that category. Nothing to do with participation trophy. It has to do with letting people live their own adult lives and not choosing for them.
January 16th, 2017 at 8:09 PM ^
Well, my wife would've attended UM if her father hadn't forbidden her to do so. She had a scholarship offer, too. So yeah, I think it's a pretty crappy thing to do.
The forbidding thing is ok when they're younger, but the college choice is part of the begining of their own lives. At some point they need to start making decisions like an adult. Too many helicopter parents out there.

When I was 17/18 my dad treated me like an adult and let me run my own life.
I had no curfew, no bedtime, was allowed to call myself in sick my senior year of HS, etc., etc.
