FSU had 3 big break-away plays last night.  One of them was a coverage bust.  I don't think speed was an issue.

Cook was going to do his break-away thing on any defense.  For the most part the defense shut him down.

The defense played well enough to win, but the offense was no help.

FSU's offense was pretty damn good. They dominated us on that first touchdown. The second one was a blown assignment. I don't know what to say about the third when you give up an 80 yard run on 3rd and 22.

We lost 3 games by a total of 5 pts.

This was a good season that is literally 3 plays away from being an all time great one.

We should have Harbaugh and Brown for the next 5 years.  Think about that the next time we miss on a recruit or something doesn't quite go our way.

Things are good in Michigan land.

The Dude earned it.  If he can recruit lockdown DBs to go with his system, we'll be in good shape.

Now we just need to upgrade the OC position to be worthy of the DC position . . .

The defense can actually get better with more speed and aggressiveness. We were deep and stout this year - just lacked playmaking at a few spots and experience in Brian's sysytem. Probably not ready next year, but give the frosh and the recruits a year to marinate. Guys will clearly want to play on the UM defense and we can offer stability now, so recruiting will likely improve in 2018.

Will take the sting of this season off a little knowing we will continue to have monster defenses!  Once we get our blue chip QBs in the rotation, we will be fully BACK!

GO BLUE!!

Now this is news that I think all of us can get behind as his defense had a great first year both statistically and using the old-fashioned "eye test". He had a Michigan defense doing things that I don't think we've seen them do in a while - a long while in some cases. It was very refreshing to watch on many levels. He is worth every penny, in my own view.

But, he, the defense, and everyone for that matter really responded in the second half.  Regardless of the outcome, seeing adjustments, and getting back into that game was great to see.  Glad to have him back and hopefully we will get a conference championship for him relatively soon.

If I was Don Brown, I would have said:

"I'm not signing a damn thing until you upgrade the offense. I'm not doing the BC thing all over again."

Next year's D will be interesting to watch.  Less experienced depth on D-line, and less experience everyhere else.  Conversely, as someone here showed earlier in the year, Brown's defenses have historically improved dramatically between the first and second years.  I'm hoping it'll be good to start, and very good by the middle of the year as younger players get more comfortable with the system.

Does anyone think we maybe have a culture flaw where Michigan just isn't able to get ready for big night games? I just feel time and time we are so unprepared for a big night game. After watching last night I'm very happy we didn't make it to the playoffs as something needs to change in the preparation for big games. Sorry just still can't believe after hearing for the last couple weeks we have been preparing hard and to come out that flat was an eye opener to me. Then listening to JD after the game how we were out executed it just seemed like he was hinting that this loss was on the coaching and preparation. Any thoughts?

I get and understand that and am very happy to send this o line out. But I just feel like the big night games has been too much for these teams. Maybe we just need to play more night games in the season . But watching that game last nightFSU seemed pretty comfortable in that spotlight and Michigan looked lost

Did you see the second half?  Also, this is a road, night game, coming from a cold climate where the oppostion has been in the warm weather continuously.  There will always be built in disadvantages for Michigan in these games, and last night, with a shaky o-line, a late scratch of a key player and early loss of another, they got off to a slow start.  Not what we wanted but also not entirely surprising.

They didn't fold and almost won.

Oh I agree with you we were behind the ball before the game even started. I just didn't think we came in as prepared as I had hopped. And my fault for also letting the media blind me skittle with the Michigan hype . Will say Speight kinda showed some things that kinda scared me last night with him getting rattled. Also most of his throws thrown off his back foot and the last throw him lofting it up and turning like a little girl so he dish the get hit. It's the last game of the season you lay it out there don't turn into a puss now

And if you think it's not being flat and just getting exposed then explain the 2nd half. Being flat mean unprepared and not into the game. How do you explain the two different teams that came out in the first and came out in the second? Ya you can say adjustments but that goes in the preparation category. We are a better team then what was played in that first half . The team got popped in the mouth and had no clue what to do in the first half. After close to a month of preparing under JH that's kinda scary to see. Hopefully that opened his eyes a little too

Peppers is an amazing player but he isn't everything. yes if we have peppers two of those long plays don't happen but it still doesn't take away the fact that we looked completely outmatched the first half. The butt injury I think hurt a lot more it took WS security blanket away, but was nice to see the other younger TE show what they got
