painted michigan endzone
i have always loved the Michigan endzone during a bowl game. The dark blue endzone with Michigan written in maize. Was wondering why they don't do this at the big house? I imagine if they did the ariel views and photos would look beautiful and amazing. does anyone have any info on why they don't paint the endzones? thanks

But I've always thought that a maize endzone would be pretty sexy.

A lot of players say that paint has a tendancy to make field turf slippery in bad weather, especially the older type (Mich's was installed in 2010). It can be painted, but is not as common anymore. Most full color endzones on FieldTurf (ex:OSU) are actually sewn into the field and not painted.
When I was at Michigan, they used to repaint the endzones once a year, and touch them up for prime time tv games. Since Harbaugh has come, I've noticed they look like shit but it's better than having a guy slip. I assume they will continue to look like that until it's time to replace the turf.

About 10 years. The last one they replaced after 7 though. 2003-2010

Before 2015 our endzones saw quite a bit of activity. Unfortunately those trips to the endzone were more often opposing teams rather than the good guys.
That situation has reversed.

Poor choice of words, there's nothing shitty about Michigan Stadium. They are just very faded. Again I would rather not risk someone slipping than have the endzones "pop" on TV like Brandon was more worried about.

Couldn't they just seed it with Kentucky blue grass?

Having blue end zones is not even close to "jazzing things up."

painting the endzones blue would add a jazz factor of 5, or approximately a "Memphis Happy Hour" on the Halzberg Jazziness Scale.

Too bad it's not practical since we'd rarely fill it unless we're playing OSU or ND.

Yup. We can obviously blame the students for that. Oh wait....my bad..."they all move down closer to the field."
yeah, ok, students. Keep spewing lies.
