Having said that, this team does not have the make up or the intangibles within the staff to win in CBus
Some/Many may disagree, but it is true
Urban Meyer will have his team more than ready for UM
Can't say the same thing for our staff
Feels like Hoke/end of Carr era all over again

A good team that was also still limited talent wise. Michigan has talent in spots, but still has talent deficiencies at certain spots that hold them back.

I agree. What spots do you see weaknesses, and could you rank them by order of importance? Just curious to see how other perceive the situation.
November 13th, 2016 at 11:06 AM ^
Well I'll tell you what I see. On offense I see a bunch of guys who are hard workers with a ton of heart and are well coached. They have improved a ton over the last two years but they still don't have that swag and bad ass mentality to go anywhere in any situation and smack teams around. To make the big plays, shut that crazy crowd up and take the game. They had their chances to sneak out of their with a win too but didn't execute. They got punked lastnight and didn't have a response. I've been on teams where there are a few guys who just cant handle the situation and they let up. That trickles all the way down and eventually at the end of the game, most others have followed suit. I did see Peppers trying to get guys fired up and the looks on their faces was pathetic. They gave up. They didn't keep punching when the fight was in the balance. Not going to win a title like that. Have to keep the poise/focus and not lose momentum. Limit mistakes and don't beat yourselves. Have to beat Ohio fucking shit State now. No way around it. Gotta go in their fired up beyond all hell and punch them right in the jaw and break it. Go Blue!

Offensive Line and Linebacking. We can't run right at the bigger teams enough, and they can run right at us too much.

Stupidest thing I will hear today.

I didn't understand why we were having Speight throw deep balls instead of short guaranteed completions. I mean of course, had he made them I would be sitting here and applauding it, but to consistently attack downfield when it wasn't working didn't make sense to me
November 13th, 2016 at 2:37 PM ^
The opportunities were there, IMO, Speight was just out of sync.

Serious, I know that we are all upset about the loss, but it is one game. Teams lose, even great teams. And even great coaching staffs lose. I get some of the criticism of the coaching, but would you feel the same if Speight had connected on 1-2 of his long throws for a few TD? The team just came out flat and had a clunker of a game. The great Urban Meyer lost to PSU. It happens. Hell, Bill Belichick lost TWO Super Bowls to interior teams. Maybe the Pats should have fired him too?
People need to R-E-L-A-X.

After that safety, I let out a bunch of expletives. Could sense knew we were giving a braindead team new life.
November 13th, 2016 at 7:44 AM ^
The thing is, this defense is very capable of shutting down anyone, anywhere. That's the first element of winning at Ohio State that most teams don't have.
People climbing the walls last night about a supposed blowout against Michigan down there need to chill.
I wasn't surprised Iowa ran the ball well last night. A. At home. B. It's what that program has always done well. C. It's the only play they had was to keep running. The passing game was hopeless.
It shouldn't have mattered. 200 yards total with a couple turnovers and safety is Brady Hoke team level offense. You will not win many road games doing that.
November 13th, 2016 at 8:14 AM ^
It finally cost them last night. How in the world they allowed a one-dimensional Iowa team to run in them I have no idea. They have far from shown that they can shut down mediocre rush offenses much less "anyone, anywhere".

Well if you read my post, it says "capable of doing". I am sure two very productive run offenses in Wisconsin and Penn State would agree we're capable. There are elements that need cleaning up. But there are probably 4 current NFL draftable players on that Dline. Given that and the history of dominating against quality teams, they are capable.
I've seen enough to say they can, even against a great rushing team.
You've seen enough to ignore the evidence in the good performances and focus on the lackluster ones.
If we knew they could do it every time, we could simply not bother playing the games and let a computer model decide it all.
No fun there.

Maybe. Maybe not.
Let's see how the matchups play out.
A lot of what were dealing with today is fans overemphasizing the negatives after a loss. Overreaction Sunday. Never been a lost game in the history of sports where there weren't issues come up for the losing team.
Point is, we have the players to very well down there against their offense and we have the right coach scheme wise.
See how it plays out.

It's going to be fine my man (SalvatoreQuattro) our rush defense is absolutely the real deal. I am not going to sit here and go over the facts and figures. Especially when people alot smarter than me already have and gave UM their blessing as one of the best rushing defenses in the country, if not, THE best. I understand your frustration but the D had nothing what so ever to do with the loss. When a defense holds a team to 14 points regardless of how they got them, they have done their job even if the game is at home much less on the road
Your offense on the other hand has let the defense down and did not show up (AGAIN) in the second half. This is my concern, albeit small but it is alarming some what when the offense in the last three straight games has had a poor showing in the second half. I am sure the coaches are all over that and want to get some results even if they start hurting regular players feelings in the film room. My guess is, it's the O-line, Because it is just not very deep and that would mean that this will continue. This is where the coaches earn their money. I say we all take a deep breath, step back, and see what is going to change if anything.

LB with speed. Teams have found they can run the corners around our DL. Our LB are too slow and do not takle well. I'm not sure what Harbaugh can do against OSU? I was kind of hoping we would win this game so that we could have an upgrade in our bowl game this season.

One thing has changed . . . when we lost in 1985 as a #2, our shot at a National Championship was gone. It was all based on polls, and Bo's teams were not the kind of teams that were going to win a beauty contest.
Now we still have a shot. Win out and we are in.
So that's progress.

The OSU defense is the backbone of their team right now. Something like 8 future day 1-2 draft picks on that unit.
November 13th, 2016 at 7:49 AM ^
After reading the comments in Ace's gamer you would think we are back in the Hoke era. My preseason prediction was 11-1 with the loss coming at Iowa. We are right on pace. This loss will help this team re-focus and be ready for the last two games. Just a bad day for too many players last night in a tough environment vs. a team that played their asses off. It happens.
We likely will still be ranked in the top 4 this week and it of course comes down to the Game. Win and in and lose and PSU is in - funny how this will work out.
This is still a great Michigan team regardless of what some of you ledge-dwellers post in other threads.

However, they are still likely in the CFP if they win out, even without a Big Ten Championship.
Even more reason to beat them.
November 13th, 2016 at 8:19 AM ^
They'll lose by two scores vs OSU and play in a second tier bowl.
UM is still lacking too much at the QB spot, has a issues consistently squashing the rush, and the OL has some significant flaws.
Michigan is two years of talent procurement and development away from being a legit contender.Too much Hoke still in them.

1) you're being fucking ridiculous.
2) if Penn State loses to MSU, or if Penn State loses to Wisconsin in the BTTT, we're going to the Rose Bowl at 10-2, so hush.
(Wisconsin makes the playoff if they win the Big Ten, and OSU will make it now that Washington lost if they win out; 10-2 Michigan is in the Rose Bowl over a 10-3 PSU team we beat, every single time).

If I could upvote you ten times I would.
Every game is different. The match-ups are different. These aren't machines. They are 20 year olds playing on the road at night against a program where the coach has built a consistent winner over nearly fifteen years.
Every team has a down game or two in a college football season. I will buy the argument that the overall talent isn't dominant enough yet to overcome bad games like last night.
But there is enough here to beat OSU this season. No question.
We know this because we saw Michigan dominate basically every game this season and an inferior Penn State beat that OSU team.
The notion we can't win down there strikes me as fans overreacting and behaving as crybabies over a one point loss.
November 13th, 2016 at 11:01 AM ^
Did you not watch the motherfucking Northwestern Wildcats take OSU to the wire in Columbus?!
