OT: Detroit Lions Championship Drought by Posnanski
Recounting the Lions' futility is actually impressive in a sad, pitiable way:

Personally, I still think the Browns are in worse shape, but man that's not a contest you want to be in, let alone win.

Which owners are more incompetent: the Fords, or Haslam Jr.? Tough call.

You have a choice in life (not in your sports teams, don't be a dick, root for your hometown team). Your choice is to laugh or cry.

You got another thing coming, because for all intensive purposes, they're one in the same.

When talking about the Lions, I always just go with the old ...."they have only won one playoff game in my lifetime.....one." I'm no spring chicken either.

I know we all know this fact, but this is the thing that is so incredible, ONE fucking playoff win, just ONE! Fords you suck!!!

Growing up in Detroit, every kid had another favorite team. Mine was Pittsburgh and Mean Joe Green. My brother liked Dallas (lots of fun at our house). My other brother like Marino and Miami.
But, without cable, every Dad had to dutifully crack a Strohs and watch (bitch) about the Lions. It was like watching Dad mow the lawn.

The Lions once had a coach, Marty Mornhinweg, who — back when overtime really was sudden death — decided to KICK OFF in overtime. The thankful Bears happily drove down the field and kicked the game-winning field goal.
It was at this point in the article that I decided that I needed to slow down the drinking so I can still be somewhat aware for the Michigan game. This and all the other ones mentioned were making me drink out of sadness.
