Will be nice to have people like Long, Crawford, Asiasi from last years class to chat with him when he comes up.

Harbaugh would've fixed that, or Rosen wouldn't have played. But he's crazy talented. Moral of the story is don't go play for Jim Mora.

I'm sure our staff talks about the whole weather issue as if these kids think they have a chance to play on Sundays, they need to realize a lot of teams play in cold weather climates without a dome.
Tom Brady and peyton's non-dome record say Hi!

I don't get the kids who want to play in the NFL but don't want to go to a school because it is cold. You can't control if you get drafted by Buffalo, Green Bay, Cleveland ect.
October 25th, 2016 at 3:18 PM ^
Yeah but like, why play in the cold for the next 3-4 years if you don't have to? If you get drafted by Buffalo or Green Bay great, you have to do it, but if you can play in SoCal for 3-4 years before then, isn't that still pleasant? Not advocating for this - I'd probably play for a school with the best combination of athletics and academics like Michigan regardless of weather, but I still understand why kids want to stay warm for a few years if they can.

I understand your point, and I think it is a valid one. The counterpoint is that college should be a time that is used to prepare for your career, and maybe if you are completely inexperienced in playing in the cold, an NFL game (and the less than patient attitude of many NFL teams) may not be the best time to test yourself out. Also, to be technical, it's not just getting drafted by Green Bay and Buffalo that's the problem. There are away games and playoff games as well.
Again, I think you have a good point but I don't think the alternative viewpoint is completely without merit either.

Look at how many players the SEC is sending to the NFL. The NFL doesn't seem to care, making it a hard sell to recruits.
October 25th, 2016 at 6:46 PM ^
If you really think about it, most of the good teams in the NFL play in the northern half. The Seahawks, Packers, Patriots, Steelers, Giants, Broncos, Ravens and Vikings to name a few. Broncos are in the mountains up high so that counts as cold and north to me. The Lions, Browns, and Bills all have their occasional good year! Sort of!

but man, a talent like that, he should have followed Harbaugh wherever Harbaugh went. Life decisions.

Plus its a commuter school, smack dab in the middle of LA. It's nothing like AA, not much of a college feel.

The status of Rosen's shoulder is ongoing. He's been having nerve issues in it, and it is currently unknown when he will be playing again.

I'm plenty happy with what we have.

I believe they chat regularly.

Wow, they're like the same player!

They are both #4.

That was funny #2.
October 25th, 2016 at 4:32 PM ^
You are #6.

I am a free man!

That is me on the sidelines.

If they've maintained that relationship, there could be something very interesting brewing.

should talk directly to the Big Guy upstairs to order up a nice sunny 60 degree November day for young Holmes' visit.
Talking about Bo, by the way, who i assume sits close to THE Big Guy on Fall Saturdays...

At the pearly gates, he peered inside and said to St. Peter "Is that Bo Schembechler?"
St. Peter turned and looked "No, that's God. He only thinks he's Bo Schembechler"

They can always point to the great California players from the past like Tom Brady and Jim Harbaugh.

Brady was a California kid but Harbaugh did not move to California until his junior year in high school.

Doesn't hurt to mention Tom Brady either (San Mateo guy)

I don't think weather is the issue. UCLA is the only California school, maybe the only southern school that's been among his perceived leaders.
October 25th, 2016 at 12:54 PM ^
I know he's a jerk but you don't have to call him a douchebag. /s
We were carving pumpkins with family friends this weekend when my 11 (now 12) year old son referred to someone as a "douche" in front of our friends' daughters. I had to politely explain to him why he shouldn't use that terminology around young ladies. Or was I being too sensitive?
October 25th, 2016 at 1:13 PM ^
Absolutely not, nothing wrong with being polite.
October 25th, 2016 at 2:47 PM ^
I remember when WXYT banned the use of douchebag on the air. It seems to have made a comeback.
October 25th, 2016 at 6:35 PM ^
There are a lot of douchebags running around of late.

He can hang in there for 4 years.
If we don't have sun beds in Schembechler we should.

I think the weather becomes much more tolerable when you realize that UCLA is a longshot to even make a bowl game this year, and their 2017 recruiting class is ranked lower than the powerhouses of Rutgers, Illinois, BC, Oregon State, etc. At least the class coming in to UCLA is ranked one spot better than the University of Texas-San Antonio.

I am an alumni student recruiter for Michigan based in the Los Angeles area and when I first started doing this, I thought weather would be a major consideration. But it is not....sure I get some questions on it ,but it is certainly not a make or break. You stress the culture of Michigan and all the school has to offer. I thought the out of state tuition would be a major consideration also - not a consideration, of course for a scholarship student athlete - $ 45,410 for Tuition and Fees versus $ 15,000 for UCLA but that has not been a major obstacle either. Bring them to Campus and you will be surprised how Michigan compares favorably to UCLA , even though UCLA is a very strong school. California is only behind New York and Illinois when it comes to our out-of-state undergrads.

which means the weather that day will be shit.

CU's next game is Nov 3 vs UCLA. If the Buffs win our SOS is better, and Holmes is one step closer to his Michigan destiny.
Two for one!

- I've been a moderate buffs fan since they beat ND in the Orange bowl, preventing Lou Holtzth and the domers from winning the NC.

but for some reason they do not allow early enrollees
