OT: Stranger Things (no spoilers please)
They really nailed the score. It totally sounds like Vangelis (Blade Runner, Chariots of Fire).
Is it safe for young kids to watch (under 10)? I see the young cast but not sure if it gets a bit too creepy for kids. My son got freaked out by the Klopecks (creepy neighbors from The Burbs) as an example.
freak him out.
We finished the season this past weekend. Every episode is better than the previous one. I'm hoping they continue it.
The creator/writers confirmed they are making a season 2. However, Netflix hasn't confirmed yet. They will continue with same cast.
she was and always will be a peach. and she's bat-shit cray. would do!
Winona is a peach. Like when you eat a peach that is so ripe you can push your thumb through the skin. The juice runs down your chin and drips onto your chest, and the place in between your fingers gets so sticky you have trouble separating them. The next day, even after you wash your hands, you can still smell the sweet juice on your skin and, if no one is watching, you lick your fingers and the memory of that sweet fruit on your tongue floods back. Winona is like that.
this is totes what i had in mind when describing her this way.
I loved her turn as a crazy mom who doesn't back down when she's convinced she's right.
last night, and so far so good. They did a great job of capturing the era (clothes, homes, kids riding bikes at night without helmets, etc). I think I'll watch the rest.

Wife and I binged it this weekend over 2 sittings. That wasn't necessarily our intention but damn it's a good show.
I really enjoyed the theme music and sound track. Overall I really liked the show and it held my interest throughout. However, I was disappointed in the ending. I felt it was too abrubt and have some other concerns that would get into spoiler territory, so I will leave it at that. Looking forward to see how they transition it to season 2 though.
It's worth watching for the theme and soundtrack alone. But I agree, the show lost steam during the second half of the season though.
Started it on Sunday. Finished it on Sunday.
Last Kingdom last week. Quickly burning through that one.
Given the goal. They went for an '80s-style series and nailed it. Winona Ryder absolutely slaughters it and I loved seeing elements of Goonies, Nightmare on Elm Street, Pretty in Pink, etc. It takes the simplistic themes of '80s movies and manages to push a refreshing story.
Someone above said that they're going forward with the same cast, but I was rather hoping they'd do an American Horror Story thing and make each season its own mini-series.
Finished it last week. 10/10
Great acting all around, great story, great suspense, great fun.
Great!

I actually thought the ending felt very fitting for the mood of the rest of the first season.
My wife and I watched the first four episodes last night - into the night as I didn't get to bed until close to 1:30 AM, which made today a long day at work, but considering how much we enjoyed those episodes, it was worth it. Anything I can enthusiastically lose sleep over like that is worth it. We plan to watch the rest of it this weekend.
