AJ Dillon Great new SPARQ numbers
AJ Dillon at the NY/NJ Opening event has these numbers: 6'1"; 239 lbs.; 4.56 40; 4.29 shuttle and 38.3 vertical. Great numbers for a kid his size.
Also Benjamin St-Juste showing well at a legit 6'3", 192 lbs., with a shuttle time of 3.93 and a 4.6 40.
I think Aj Dillon reminds me of Ty Isaac.
I like Ty Isaac, but Dillon is a tougher runner.
I always wondered where Magnus got his inside tips.
How would you compare him to say...De'Veon Smith?
I think they're very similar, right down to the fact that their competition isn't anything special. I think Dillon is a little more patient than Smith at the same point in their careers.
Certainly not similar size or speed.

Some people might have said that, but I think it really was more a matter of which class he'd be in, not if he'd be in one. Because he's from Canada, he has to meet US standards to get enroll U of M. Because he wasn't able to get them done in time, he'll be in this upcoming class. Talent didn't play any part in the decision.
Todd Howard worked with him a little bit.
Michigan has had a little too much thunder lately. We got one good lightning season out of Fitzgerald Toussaint in 2011, and Carlos Brown did okay under Rodriguez. But I'm looking forward to getting a potential home run hitter on the field.
Eh, the problem with Dillon being "lightning" is that he doesn't get to top speed quickly. He's pretty ponderous with his cuts and acceleration. His 4.56 time in the forty isn't bad, but I think that's more reflective of some solid top-end speed. Which is, after all, the main criticism of using 40 times to judge football players. It's not often that you run 40 yards in a straight line.

Or it was a fast track when he ran the 40. Or it was a slow track when he ran the 100. Lots of different things can factor in.
Regardless, watching his film, he doesn't have good acceleration. And I'm not the only one to think so. Track speed doesn't always equal football speed.
Hoard was a bit smaller with quicker feet, but ran extremely hard, had excellent balance, and just was not going down on the first tackle. If Dillon can run as hard he'll be a handful with his size.

True, but he is older than most of his classmates. He's going to be 19 years old by the time his senior season starts.

I believe it differs from state to state. Some places have a limit of 19 years old by a certain date during their senior year. I've also heard of a limit of 19 years and 9 months. I'm not sure what the rule is in Connecticut.
He wouldn't be eligible if he turns 20 any time during the football season.

Knowing is half the battle!
I don't think that's true. He scored a 142+, and the highest since then (AFAIK) is Cam Akers with a 141+. I'm willing to be proven wrong, but here's the link to Akers's score.
Can we just fast-forward to late August?

Giving Harbaugh some time in the kitchen is a big part to the recipe for success. Summer is going to be great just knowing he's got everything simmering, mixing away like the Swedish Chef. Success smells delidious, and I can already smell what he's got cookin'!
Also, time to get the grill fired up...
Someone translate.

are you implying that dillon and henry have similar games? or just turned in similar performances at combine type events? bc theres a big difference bw testing and tape. dillon is a nice prospect, appears to have posted solid #s and the coaches obviously like him - but henry broke florida records and just won the heisman on the way to the pros
Is it a 7on7 thing too, or just testing? Would love to see more on St-Juste. Marcus Ray worked the camp when Michigan offered, and he was faint in his praise. But that's about the extent of what I've heard on him
Todd Howard worked with him at the camp and said he had elite potential
