Looking for 4 tickets to the Bowling Green game, would be happy sitting anywhere. Traveling in from SD, so keeping an eye on the sites, but figured I'd drop a line here too. Go Blue

I think he was actually at CMU as a GA in '16 & '17 before heading over to Iowa in '18. Only noting as I believe he overlapped with Sherrone Moore & Albert Karschnia for those years, so there should be some familiarity there

If in regards to leaping…

If in regards to leaping ability, I find that an odd descriptor as he self reports a 39 inch vert and a 4.6 40 (probably a few fakes out of five)... But his Twitter page shows him throwing down pretty seamless windmill dunks, so I'm thinking we very well might have an airbound dude who appears to be quite athletic on film and a very willing blocker. Great get by Jaybaugh after M came to the party a little later than some others (OSU for one)

Totally agree on the Dug…

Totally agree on the Dug comments, though I think his height is a huge advantage to Michigan in terms of him staying on campus longer. Crazy that I'm saying this already in year two, but early indications of Juwan's roster building make me really excited that he can replicate the Villanova model but with possibly more lottery-talent types sprinkled in.

Any sense from you on the Bediako smoke, Matt? Still likely Bama out front? Thanks again for all the great updates, always appreciated!

2017 was inflated by…

2017 was inflated by Minnesota and 2018 was deflated by targeting, but I do think we'll be incredibly impressed by the end of the season. He's shown what he's capable of, needs to fill a big void this year, and he has 12 games to prove it to the NFL. Board man gets paid.

You're right, but...

You're certainly right (and granted we all know the type of person Urbs is), but would that not be extremely petty to restrict Burrow's release? Not by any means saying Urban is above that, but Burrow has competed hard for three years, hasn't had a chance to prove anything on the field, and would have a great opportunity to play in front of family at Nebraska for a good coach at a solid university. If Joe came to Urban with that desire, I don't see how you can morally restrict a 20 year old from that decision. Especially when he wasn't good enough to be your starting QB, and he'd be headed to a projected middle-of-the-road team in the West (they do play each other though, I know). TIp of the cap to Beilein for repeatedly allowing outgoing transfers to choose where they wish to attend, I think you have to advocate for the student-athlete's success over competition--even moreso if you were planning on benching them anyway.

Joe Burrow

Word on the street is that if (when) Dwayne Haskins wins the starting QB job at OSU, Burrow will look to grad transfer with two years of eligibility remaining. Burrow has family who have attended Nebraska, and there's a clear crater at the QB position there currently. Not to mention, Burrow fits Frost's system pretty well. By all reports, Burrow is legitimately pushing Haskins too, so that could be quite the upgrade for Nebraska come fall.

Couch

Looks to be in the mold of J-Lew and LeVert... small in stature, but lanky, and thrives in a press coverage mirror. Excited to watch Zordich and Brown mold another lockdown cover guy, this could be a big recruiting win if Mich can hold on.

Mooney

I dont mean to be 'that guy' but I actually attend USD and know Matt pretty well. He has a lot of solid programs coming after him right now, and it's a pretty neat dream come true for him. I won't drag on needlessly, but if anybody has any questions about him, let me know. Awesome guy.

Lol

Ambry has now taken the lead, well done everybody

Paye

His story screams Harbaugh. Read an extensive article on his immigration at a young age from Africa, and growing up in a non football family, in a relatively non football state being from RI. Kid's family worked through tough circumstances, and his high school coach emphasizes Paye's humble nature and diligent work ethic. With his raw athleticism and size in Harbaugh's system, I'm excited to see what he can become. Great story too in the mold of Darboh and Chesson.

DT vs. DE

My exact thoughts. He tweeted a while back that people ask him the same question, and he said something along the lines that he, "prefers to just be considered a d lineman, since he's lost 50 pounds"

I have no idea what to think of that, but thought it would be relevant news lol

Recruiting implications

A definite plus coming from this loss is in recruiting. Additionally, if OSU were to lose to Nebraska (long shot imo), they could potentially drop 3 Ls in big ten play. Ohio is currently putting together one of the best recruiting classes in history--one would have to think three losses could change that.

Minnesota Game

I was at the Minnesota game last year--in the Minny student section none the less (I'm in college, it's normal)--and the second Speight stepped on to the field, I, too, stepped on to an emotional rollercoaster. It wasn't pretty, but it shouldn't be overlooked that he finished that drive. Little did I know, the roller coaster wasn't finished until after a goal line stand. That game had me all types of confused. Then I literally bumped into Brad Nessler while leaving the stadium. Anyway, I love the quote from Speight about the speed of the game. I'm definitely okay with the offense in his hands, given the weapons we have at literally every other position on this roster. Also, coaching staff.

Here's an

[email protected]

Here's an old e-mail account--we have to get in touch sometime, I'm sick of hearing about Nebraska.

No way

Woah. I live in Sioux Falls.

Born and raised here, but have always been a huge Michigan fan. I'm currently in college at the U of South Dakota -- toured U of M, got accepted, but $60,000 without any financial aid given as an out of state student took the back seat to a near academic full ride in state.

I'm absolutely shocked that there's been someone from Sioux Falls on the blog this whole time.

SoDak Blues?!

I've been reading mgoblog for quite a while now and I'm shocked I've never noticed your username.. Are you from South Dakota??

My bad

My bad, I thought I read somewhere that if they got their man, they might call it good depending on how big the class got

Agreed

Falo was a go to target for McCaffery at The Opening, and would definitely be a great get at TE. After taking three TEs last class and having Dunaway in the fold for 2018, along with Mustapha as an elite TE target in 18 as well, it's doubtful that Michigan will take 2 TEs this class. We'll see how things shake out--definitely a positive to have options

Radley-Hiles

Brendan Radley-Hiles will be a really tough pull away from Nebraska. I know, call me crazy, but the Calabasas to Nebraska movement is legit. Keyshawn Johnson Jr. is spearheading it, along with Tristen Gebbia, and they have a real shot at Darnay Holmes. They're even calling it Calabraska. Mike Riley has the connection with Keyshawn Johnson, and it's really paying dividends for them. At this point, I'd be shocked if Radley-Hiles committed elsewhere (yes, I know 2018 recruit/long time away).

Dunk Contest

I was checking out his high school's basketball twitter page and they had a dunk contest of which Baruti didn't even win. The winner: Bismarck Biyombo's younger brother who is a 2017 recruit. I can't imagine anybody was able to match-up with them athletically, cause Baruti could easily be the most athletic kid on our roster from day one. Wouldn't be a bad pick up this late in the cycle, with a lot of potential to work with. Biyombo's younger brother could be a potential target with the size next year's class might be too

Dillon and St. Juste

Incredible numbers for both at their size. St. Juste's shuttle time would have been good for 2nd in this year's NFL combine. With Samuel's sparq score leading the nation, and DPJ likely to give him some competition for that honor, this class could be insane athletically.

TB12 on the edit lol

I find it hilarious that on the "Plus" section of the magazine edit they list top athletes and the NFL player listed is Tom Brady

Perfect Beilein Guard

Poole is the epitome of what Beilein needs in his offense. Great shooter with a quick release, who is also a smooth athlete and can handle the ball well. Poole isn't going to wow you with the athleticism that seems to have become the norm with top prospects now days, but he's a skilled player. Little old man in his game. His pull up jumper will be extremely beneficial at the college level

Taylor = Asiasi

He reminds me a lot of Devin Asiasi. Big body, mobile, can play TE or DE. And just like Asiasi, Taylor got some snaps at wildcat. His basketball film is pretty good too--just a great athlete in a huge body. Here's to hoping we can hold on to him and Antuwan Johnson as well, makes it a little easier with the two being teammates and good friends.

Maybe he wanted to get away

I think a lot of people automatically assume that since he's a Michigan kid, Ann Arbor specifically, he's gotta be blue. How many non athletes from Michigan want to go to college elsewhere? A lot. He's a junior in high school--my junior year in high school there's no way I wanted to go to college 5 minutes from home. There's a lot of time left in the process, but not every kid wants to stay in state when they can go full ride literally anywhere in the country

Lol

That's so awkward for Stribling lol. Did Robinson really have to tattoo his name on the jersey?? I can't imagine my friends and family knowing that I'm tattooed on another man's body

Futher comparison

Futher comparison in terms of ranking: UAB's #62 ranked class puts them ahead of Purdue, Illinois, and Rutgers. Additionally, Northwestern and Indiana both finished in the 50s, while Iowa and Minnesota finished 47 and 48. Each of those schools had at least 20 recruits as well (the benchmark number that goes into the national ranking). Understandable that UAB's class is almost entirely JUCOs, but still pretty impressive without a current program. Also, the Big Ten finished pretty lopsided in recruiting rankings.

Huge Get

This is a huge get as a PWO. Love the nastiness and ferocity in his film. And to accept a PWO when he has full ride offers? Kid wants to prove he can play at the highest level. Drevno and Harbaugh in your corner doesn't hurt either

Devin Bush Sr.

Devin Bush Sr. would be a great addition as a recruiting assistant in my opinion. I know it's been talked about on here before, but much like Partridge, Bush took a middling Flanagan program to a state title at the highest level in Florida. He was a guest speaker at the summer camp, his son is on the team, and Mich needs to retain a Florida presence. The stars are aligning

Assistant Special Teams Coach

Could he possibly be sharing the special teams with another coach? For instance, Partridge and Jay could both be assistant ST coaches? In that case, there technically isn't a head ST coach, but two assistants... speculation.

Little Rumors

I thought the Little rumors formulated because the secret visitor was supposedly someone at the UA game? I'm probably wrong, but for some reason I thought that was part of the description. Oh well, Dwumfour looks to be quick and strong and his relationship with Gary doesn't hurt either. We'll have a lot of exits on the DL next year, so getting depth now would be beneficial.

Edit

Edit: disregard

Fifth star

Fifth star is coming at the end of the week ;) lol just wishful thinking. I was thinking fringe five star in my head, but apparently omitted it, my bad.

Long

Peters posted one, and then David Long later posted another picture with just himself and Dylan Crawford also saying GoBlue. You can see both pictures from the link in the original post

Peters

If you're talking about the picture of three guys, the one who took the selfie is Brandon Peters.. our qb commit... 5 star.. the second coming

All them

It's from the official AA game snapchat account. The players take their own photos and videos and add their own captions from their own phones and then send it to the account which conglomerates them as a whole.

Gary

Gary's a freak

Gary and Bush

Rashan Gary with a congratulatory hit on the butt of Devin Bush after that tackle.. not reading too far into this, but he's definitely a lock.

(Lol)

Kareem

I think Kareem Walker will fit very well in the offense Harbaugh is creating. He may not be the stud you'd expect from the nations #1 RB, but with the OLine we'll have, Kareem can find the hole and wear a defense down with good intangibles

Green's tape

I get what you're saying, and I agree with you to an extent, but Derrick Green was a man amongst boys who had straight line speed. If you watch his film the most he had to do was one cut and maybe break an arm tackle from a 5'10 175 pound linebacker. It was hard to ignore the numbers he put up though; hence, his recruiting ranking. Green is still built like a man and still has decent straight line speed, but the LBs aren't average sized high school seniors anymore and his O-line isn't opening gaping holes. And when you watch Green's high school film, he doesn't showcase all too great vision or much agility, or the greatest pass protection. There are more factors than a senior film, I get that, but what Khaleke is doing showcases his all around ability: his power, agility, hands, explosiveness, and tenacity. Rankings and film can only project so much but that's what recruiting is and it most definitely has its exceptions. That's what separates the Harbaughs from the Hokes.

Robinson

Straight outta D3! Duncan Robinson may just be a shooter, but he's shown he works hard to get open and can throw down in transition as well. In Beilein we trust

Bigs

Our bigs have no hops. We're going to have to rely a lot on DJ Wilson's athleticism as a big when we start playing better teams with athletes at every position. Doyle makes up for it with his hard work, but if you're 6'10 and alone under the hoop, that ball should be thrown down 10/10 times.

In the Student Section

I was lucky enough to be at the game and experience MSU go down first-hand. To see Cook let the final play slip through his fingers brought a smile to my face, and after all Nebraska has been through this year, they earned the win. Not to take away from the Big House, but Memorial stadium went absolutely insane. Nebraska fans are passionate, that's for sure. Here's to hoping Michigan can work its way back into the Big Ten title game!

20-10 Michigan

20-10 Michigan

2006

Being from South Dakota, my first ever Michigan game was 2006 in the MetroDome. I was 9 at the time, and I remember Mike Hart went on a tear. He ended with like 200 yards, Chad Henne played a great game, we had Manningham, Breaston, Jake Long. I'll be going back to Minneapolis this weekend for the game, and I'm expecting an even better showing from Mich. Hopefully Rudock can gain some confidence on a poor Minnesota secondary.

Jordan Poole

I'm a big fan of Poole's skill set. Very fluid shooter, looks sound athletically, and his film shows his determination on defense. He has pretty good size, but I most of all like his high release and efficient stroke--I think that will pay huge dividends at the next level. He'll definitely have to add some creation to his game, but only entering his Junior year of high school, I'm confident in his ability to do so. Overall I think he fits great in Beilein's system; I'm excited to follow his development.

Flanagan

Gil may never be a stud starter on D, but I am a fan of the offer. He's instinctive and goes hard after the ball. At worst, he's a great special team player who brings the wood and gets the team fired up. I recall reports from Michigan's fall camp saying the team was soft, and not ready for Harbaugh's intensity. These Flanagan kids seem to fit the Harbaugh mold--they're looking to hit kids, they're proven winners at a high level, and they're well coached by Devin Bush Sr.

Brownsburg RB

Toks Akinbirade. Michigan was one of his earlier offers, and it appeared the interest was mutual, but Davis and Falcon beat him to it before much more could happen in his recruitment. I was a big fan of his junior film...seems to have a good combo of size and speed. Rated as an 86, 3 star on 24/7. I think Iowa got a pretty good one
