Michigan basketball 2015-16 snowflakes
This season was as fun to watch as this site has been fun to use...which is to say, not fun, there has been literaly no fun at all.

If you watched the game and saw how the refs were calling it, this was a pretty consistant call.
I did not see that at all. No way.
Well, yeah, we are Michigan fans. But in reality, I would have thought it was the right call.
No way, the guy was stil moving forward as Mo "hit him".

Bring on X and Ibi. Those dudes have some swag I'm not sure anyone on this team has. Get Wagner in the weight room find some super athletic rim protector to walk on. Those dudes are everywhere, just go to a park in NYC and offer a walk-on spot. That's all they need to do is dunk, set screens and block shots. EASY PEEZY
Super pumped for Jordan gear as well. Maybe now caris won't get hurt by the terrible quality of cushion in his shoes....oh wait, he gone.
Either way, lots to look forward to, sort of.
X and Ibi, let's go young fellas.

this bracket was set up for deep run

...after Beilein had finally figured out that he was their only hope for semi-reliable interior offense. I'm not sure there's any excuse for Michigan's total inability to get open/score from the perimeter in the 2nd half, but the complete lack of any kind of reliable interior offensive presence cost them at least 10 pts in the second half. Not sure if we win if the refs let Wagner play, but he was our only hope. Does anyone on this board believe that Donnal would have made any of the shots he missed if he had to take them all over again -- unless his shot is completely uncontested he loses his composure and simply throws something up towards the basket.
It was clear that Beilein figured out that Wagner was our only hope through his substitution pattern in the last minute or two.
I can see this team being better next year, but unless Wagner turns into a beast on the defensive end, their interior defense and rebounding will still suck.
There's absolutely no balance on this team and only one decent athlete taller than 6' 5" -- Wagner. And no one coming in who will give us anything approximating dynamic interior play.
If next year's recruiting class doesn't deliver by the time they are juniors, it's time for Beilein to retire.

but he had a terrible second half

...is too offense oriented...too soft...too finesse.
Need to concentrate more on defense, toughness and rebounding.
This was a bad season.

So we lose 25% of our offense due to injury, still make the NCAA tournament, and play a 6 seed hard until the last minute. And it's a bad season? You realize this isn't football where you are supposed to win every game, right?
Michigan's basketball program is a top 15 program all time probably. Not top 5 like football but we do have some history. Too many people don't understand this when they post that theyre just happy we made the field because this isn't football.
We're 10th in final four appearances.
UM is #5 in the big ten; maybe #4 at best. they are not a top 10 program. that said, a healthy levert would have won this game and been ready for a good tourny run.
oh well, but everyone is back, so if this team doesn't win 11+ games in the BIG, i will be shocked.
I didn't say top 10. They are somewhere between 10 and 15. They are 10th all time in final four appearances and have 5 title game appearances. We are not like PSU or Nebraska.
lol look it up man. We have 7 which is behind UNC, Kentucky, UCLA, Duke, Kansas, Louisville, OSU, MSU, Indiana. Good for 10th.
Then we're still 13. We're a top 15 program. Anyone on this blog or a neutral person will tell you that.
I'd put them 15-20. Michigan has sustained success in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s along with a boatload of title games appearances and a national title. Pretty good programs but not in the 1-15 range. Arkansas might crack the top 15.
Yes. They have 5 FFs and were a staple to 80s basketball. They are a decent program. Not recently but you wanted an all time list.
ESPN ranked Michigan 13th in a ranking of college basketball teams in 2009 but we're not a top 15 program. /s
Houston and Arkansas are good programs historically. You obviously know nothing about basketball. Nolan Richardson and the Phi Slama Jama. Yet both have less championship games than us.
since 2010 and they haven't sent a player to the NBA via draft since 2001. Get outta here with that shit.

Wherever you put Michigan basketball all time, you have to take into account that they basically set the program on fire for 15 years after the Fab Five. They put no emphasis on making basketball better, no money into facilities, nothing.
The potential absolutely IS there for us to have a consistently top 20ish program, if not better. That's the important thing. We don't have to settle based on what freaking Ellerbe did. We have the brand, the fan and alumni base, and a shitload of money. There's no excuse for not building a powerhouse in Ann Arbor. JB has restored respectability to the program; the next coach ought to be another top level guy and we ought to start making deep tournament runs with some consistency again.

5) BE TALLER
March 19th, 2016 at 12:47 AM ^
JB has great offensive sets and does other things great but my biggest pet peeve is in his personel decisions. Cutting Bielfeldt for nobody in return, not recruiting the state's biggest recruit in quite a while, constantly putting in guys like Dakich instead of playing Walton and Maar 40 minutes in your biggest games, cutting ties with Josh Langford when he was recruiting Battle, auto bench etc.

1. This team will never win anything with Irvin starting.
2. Regarding the usability of the site, it's pretty clear that Brian has no interest in fixing it, which is why anyone who criticizes the functionality on a regular basis gets banned. It's been bad for 6 months, and it's just getting worse.
