"Harbaugh's Coaching Genius Strikes Again"
Dr. Billi Gordon in Psychology Today blog

He may be a homer (Michigan grad) but this is priceless:
Harbaugh’s actions come from the Prefrontal cortex (thinking part of the brain), and sadly, the SEC’s response is subcortical and comes from the old mammal brain, which is easily sustained with brief neurochemical rewards like winning a football game, without thinking or truly caring about the athletes involved, and the big picture - preparing an individual to thrive in society.
Harbaugh = Thinking brain
SEC = Old mammal brains
I always figured the SEC guys had reptilian brains.
I always figured SEC guys had people brains damaged by years of crystal meth use.
damaged from years of inbreeding

Ned Nederlander: Oh, Dusty. In-breeding is when you're MORE than a breeder. These men - "El SEC" - they're not just breeders, they're IN-breeders.

This is mere euphemism on the part of a very generous author.
Do not underestimate the POWER of the lizard brain.

Harbaugh?
Yup, Harbaugh Strikes Again.....
Yup, Harbaugh Strikes Again.....
I always just assumed that SEC folks were like dinosaurs and had a second brain in their ass that did most of the thinking...
Hey SEC...don't bother looking up all dem words. You should be offended.
The flaw here is that the author assumes SEC fans are capable of reading his article.
"If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'."
Sure, there are cheaters everywhere, but down South it's deeply embedded in the culture as the right way to be.
trust me, they cannot reason.
No Colonel Sanders... you're wrong.
I love the article.
But I don't love the author's takes in the comments. He seems to be brushing aside the CTE issue by saying only real men can play football. When it seems the alpha-males he is referencing are probably those most likely in danget because of a greater tendency to play with abandon and ignore pain/injuries. His line of thinking seems a little stuck in the past, just being a tougher dude doesn't make you more immune to brain trauma.
Negged if I could. I like football, I played football and hockey through 12th grade and guess what? I dont have CTE.
That's great that you don't have CTE (seriously). Doesn't mean countless others with your playing experience and beyond don't (also seriously).
Can't argue with N=1!

Yup, Harbaugh Strikes Again.............and Again!
Dr. Billi is awesome. He works at UCLA. you can say hi to him anytime
All of their findings coincide with the stereotypes I have about people I disagree with.
example: I'm almost positive that most RCMB members' thinking is heavily influenced by their amygdalas instead of their cerebral cortexes. In essence, anger over critical thinking.
... I do have a feeling that Psychology in general is turning me into an arrogant ass.
JJH is the best

I feel insulted!
Coach Harbaugh needs to cut up and burn the SEC like General Sherman did the South in the civil war.

Harbaugh has been using the SEC’s last nerve as a trampoline
Brilliant!
