OT: Favorite 80's Song
What is your favorite song from the 80's? To me it has to be I'm Falling by the Comsat Angels. Kind of a one hit wonder but still an amazing song in my opinion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bO_XNeyGdE

This song was high school for me. Not necessarily my favorite, but this album was playing in every parking lot, road game bus trip and hallway boom-box during my junior year.

Cumong, man. "My uncle has a country place..." Gets me every time.

For some reason it never did that much for me. But tack it on the list anyhow because I can't argue with the gods, RUSH.

...tells too much of a story. It's like sitting next to the wrong old dude on a plane except there is some cool music in the background.

Listen to 2112 all the way through, then listen to Steely's Royal Scam album. Might just change your mind...

"What about the voice of Geddy Lee? How did it get so high? I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy"
"I know him, and he does"
"Well you're my fact-checking cuz"

agreed, i think it's their fans that annoy me the most though

Rush is like the Trent Dilfer-led Super Bowl winning Baltimore Ravens team, with Geddy Lee's vocals being the equivalent of Dilfer at QB. The other pieces of the Ravens team were so good (especially the defense) that all Dilfer had to do was not screw up. The musicianship, for lack of a better word, of Peart on drums (greatest technical drummer) Lifeson on lead guitar and Geddy on bass/synth is unmatched. When you hear a Rush song, you instantly know that's a Rush song. They had a style all their own that they copied from Zeppelin and others, but they put their Canadian-spin on it and made it truly unique. And they weren't afraid of reinventing themselves, several times over.

I saw Rush live in 1978, without knowing many of their songs, and they were unbelievable. Probably best live performance I've ever seen.

Fast Car - Tracy Chapman

Ever since I was a kid, when that song came on the radio I always wondered whether Tracy Chapman was male or female.
Just googled it.
Now I know.

+1 for Melt With You. I gave this cassette tape single (yes kids, that used to be a real thing) to my middle school girlfriend...through intermediaries, of course. Her and I didn't actually talk much while we were"going out" for those few weeks. All communication was done through her friends. Haha

+1000
You captured the uncomfortable existence of my middle school years. Intermediaries were key, but they weren't always trustworthy to convey the proper message.

I'm going to go with U2's- With or Without You or the all-time stalker song- Every Breath You Take by the Police.
