In an Amazing Coincidence of Timing, FSU Offers Chase Allen
General Jim Sherman 'Baugh is not making friends with his run thru the south (9 of 2016's commits in SEC footprint). Hours after losing Devin Bush to the yankees (and based on insiders, pretty blindsided by it until last night) FSU decided this afternoon it's time to offer Chase Allen who a week ago had Minnesota (Indiana?) as his best offer. This follows UM's offer a few days back. Suddenly he is top 10 material it appears.
Someone got their big boys pants in a bunch today....
Keep in mind this is the same FSU who already has Naseir Upshur.
FSU's 2 TEs combined for a whopping 19 catches last year.
We really need one of you photoshop masters to get Jim's head on a general costume with a map of the southeast up in flames behind him. "We're building an army..."

Well, I guess this will be four prospects (Walker, Bush, and Shelton Johnson) that Harbaugh has beaten FSU for.

based on some twitter vibes out there. Check a few of the responses to Webb's 8 EST tweet: https://twitter.com/SamWebb77/status/677287699183718400
Don't have a scout script, though, so it's possible that they all trollin'.

This is par for the course of every commitment saga.

So Walker is going to Georgia?
December 16th, 2015 at 10:34 PM ^
That Walker is recruiting Nauta to Michigan......amirite?!?
December 17th, 2015 at 5:58 AM ^
That was my interpretation as well.
December 16th, 2015 at 10:46 PM ^
Why would that be bad for Michigan?

#1 RB on FSU's board reaches out to a similarly ranked TE target who had previously committed to FSU..."Hey, why did you decommit from FSU, I am committing there tomorrow and want to know if there is anything I am misssing."
Same set of facts, but without maize and blue tinted glasses on.
TLDR, don't know what they said to each other, could mean everything, anything or nothing.

but they're making a hell of a racket!

December 16th, 2015 at 9:55 PM ^
Surely ;)
Interestingly he didnt have a single offer from a P5 school south of Indiana despite playing in SEC country....until today.
Tim Brewster appears butt hurt.
December 16th, 2015 at 10:04 PM ^
This happens all the time. Usually one elite offer triggers the rest of the programs that may have been slow playing him to offer. I am guessing he was on the radar of a lot of schools late, but some of them were waiting to see how their board shook out before offering. I think that is also the reason Michigan waited until the dead period to offer (I think Steve Lorenz had mentioned that).

I was stinging butt hurt when FSU landed EJ Levenberry (spelling?) couple years ago I have not forgot.

Anyone that says "screw Brewster" gets my upvote. He's a stupid, mindless, ignoramous jackass, who by the way is a horrible coach. Just has a big, big mouth.

His high school quarterback is heading to FSU to kick

I've read that he played AAU basketball and missed most big football camps because of that. So that could be another reason for these late offers.
He passes the eye test for sure.

They should change the school's name from Florida State to Butthurt State.

Free Shoes University still pretty good IMO

They're actually helping us out since they know we're getting Nauta.
/s (but hope not)
December 16th, 2015 at 10:00 PM ^
Maybe we are trying to flip Upshur? We were a long time fav with him - would be funny. I mean it is not out of the question to go back to that well if Nauta is a no, which it seems.

Allen's HS teammate, a kicker, is a FSU commit
December 16th, 2015 at 9:59 PM ^
I thought the same thing at first, but someone pointed out that FSU already has a commit from the same high school, so there's a good chance they've already evaluated Allen. They tried to get Cary Angeline, the USC commit, to take an official visit, but that fell through, so this offer is probably FSU moving down the board.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but FSU might not have Upshur slotted as that Y-tight end position that Allen/Angeline seem to fit. He might be more of a Khalid Hill type of guy for them.

Their TEs in total ave about 1.5 catches a game so I am not sure anyone is headed down there to have the type of focus a MN UM or Stanford woud give you. They have a bevy of wideouts with a lot of catches - its a wideout focused offense.
December 16th, 2015 at 10:16 PM ^
Uh, it's been only one year since they had the John Mackey award winner, Nick O'Leary.
December 16th, 2015 at 10:29 PM ^
Fair point! Must have crap TEs this year then as they barely targeted them. I only went thru the 2015 reception list and its dominated by wideouts. (and Dalvin Cook)
December 16th, 2015 at 10:00 PM ^
Upshur please.

Can never have too many TEs in a harbaugh offense. They can play on the line, in the slot, out wide, H-back, great on special teams.

December 17th, 2015 at 12:50 AM ^
Plus we could use another LB i.e. Jones or Jackson. But I doubt Harbaugh would offer this kid if he didn't think he had potential to be more than just a guy.

I believe the Big Ten has a cap on the amount of players that can be signed. I could be way off on this but I think 28 is the absolute max no matter what.
