Jake Rudock Appreciation Thread
I am not a huge fan of these type of threads but it's about to get pretty negative on here in between the 504 errors so a moment of cheer.
Think this guy deserves a thread as he may have taken his last snap at a Wolverine. Let's hope not and he can come back for the bowl. Was really down on him early and still with those 2 games vs Indiana and rutgers we didnt know if it was due to the defenses faced but has played so well vs PSU and was nearly the entire offense today. We see now he was forced to play the entire year without a legit running game and has really peaked the last 1/3rd of the year. Also from all accounts a gentleman and great person. Based on how the run game has been this year scary to think about this offense without Jake.
Hat tip to "dad" - you deserved better today, and thanks for coming to Michigan.

I really hope Harbaugh can get him a good long look in the NFL.

I once said that his inability to hit the deep ball was holding the offense back. Made me look like a fool after that comment--made the OSU game respectable. Very impressed with his improvement as the season progressed, and he stepped up for the big game (despite the outcome).

He did what he could...came to a program with ZERO running game and won some games for this team and was overall a positive.
November 29th, 2015 at 2:57 PM ^
He created a very stable stop gap for the development of the other QBs
And in guiding us to a winning season, improved our ability to attract recruits.
Personally, have had my criticisms of him, but the overall body of work and widespread results are great.
Cannot envision any better WIN- WIN scenario.

without him?

Frighteningly, yes.
It's ugly.

I wish he had another year to see what would happen even though O'Korn is supposed to be better. Jake has shown he is damn good.

dude was dealing. Only reason why it wasn't 42-0. A shame we only get him for a year because I'd take him next year in a heartbeat. He was working up some great chemistry with Chesson here at the end
Thanks for coming Jake. I assure you we wouldn't have 9 wins without you here

Strong season, especially in a new offense. Hope he bounces back for the bowl game!

I was one of the many who was underwhelmed by Rudock's early performances. After the first half of the season, I thought an apt description for him was "the best of a bad lot."
Now after a full season, after watching him get used to the offense, develop chemistry with his receivers, put the passes where they were supposed to be, and take his hits but keep getting off the turf, I think a better description would be:
"One tough mother whom I wish we had for another year."
I hope like hell this isn't your last game in Maize and Blue. But either way - thanks, Jake.

Have to chime in to agree with Jake appreciation. As others have said, earlier in the season I was frustrated with him and depressed that he was the best option when it seemed like he couldn't throw long at all. But he WAS still the best option. And then he started hitting downfield, and wow, what a difference. I would much rather be 9-3 than last year's 5-7 and Jake was a huge part of that. I really hope he is able to play the bowl game: one, because I think Michigan has little chance without him, and two, because I want to see him get one more game and go out with a victory.
Thanks, Jake.

Jake performed well for us this season. He took a lot of shots, got bettter every week, and was a great leader. He played well today until injured. Hope he is ok and leads us to a bowl win, our 10th win. Sick of losing to OSU like everyone else but Jake is a classy young man and a gamer.

Any news on his injury? Looked like a possible broken collarbone/ shoulder issue, hope I'm wrong, and he plays in the bowl game.

Jake Rudock is a Michigan Wolverine. He improved a ton in the 2nd half of the season. Was making some really great throws today. He was a key reason Michigan achieved 9 wins in one year of the Harbaugh era.

he was ok, then good, then really really good.
i enjoyed it and it made for a pretty darn good year.

It seems we will be OK at QB next year...
But the question is how is Harbaugh and Co going to fix the O-line, RB and LB play on the short term? We have serious personnel issues at these positions. We have 2 former 5-star RBs benched and/or injured, fer god sakes!!!
November 28th, 2015 at 5:20 PM ^
Here, here. Jake really grew into his role and guided this team extremely well through a transition year. Every game is a toss-up if we have either of our current backups as starters all year. Better days ahead, and everything.
November 28th, 2015 at 5:35 PM ^
Excellent thread - Jake did a very nice job for us his year.
November 28th, 2015 at 5:49 PM ^
I was one of the bigger doubters of him as the season progressed, but he played like a goddamn star this past month. It sucks it seems to have ended on a hit, but I am so happy he got a chance to play here and acquitted himself so well.

I had my doubts after the first few games, but he sure did prove to be a steadying -- rallying even -- influence on offense. Good luck in the future, Jake.
