Kinda OT: Watching M Football overseas
General question as the season gets closer.
Currently stationed in S. Korea and looking for the best way to watch games. Armed Forces Network to my knowledge doesn't provide BTN. Is it worth sending an email to the to see what they can do or are the pirated streams my best option? Anyone have experience watchin games in other countries that may be of any help? Thank you!
I'm interested in any advice here as well. I'll be watching some games overseas for the first time, and of course it is in my first year buying season tickets as an alum...funny how these things work out.
I have heard the "slingbox" is a good option, if you have a cable setup in the US you can use.
Nothing OT about watching Michigan Football. EVER!
For the past ~3 years, I've used a vpn and then logged into a comcast account (you need to know someone or have your own) which allows for streaming of btn and espn among other things. You might not even need the vpn, but I had better success with it. There are usually streams available, but the quality can be poor. NBCsports might have even have had a free stream of the ND game. I've always been able to find a stream, sometimes with a little more searching needed.
It's not watching, but as a last resort mgoblue always has an audio stream, which has better announcing anyway.
The football game at ND, which is usually broadcast on NBC. I don't remember though; I just seem to recall that nbcsports has had free streams.
I've used this http://www.rajangan.me/category/american-football but the quality can be sketchy and all of the popups at the beginning are beyond annoying. Yet, it has worked for the most part.
Bigger issue for me is the time difference...esp. with all of the night games that end up being 2am games here. Really hard to have a life if you are up from 2-5am watching football..and REALLY sucks if the team loses..which, yeah has happened a few times over the last couple of years.
I'd like a way to watch a recording of the games the next day...just would mean avoiding this place for a few hours.
Slingbox, as suggested above, can help you, so long as it's attached to a DVR in the US.

If you're low maintenance firstrowsports usually has a stream with ok quality. This is what I watch as a cable-less student.
So the OP joins the military to protect our freedoms and way of life and the AF doesn't even provide him with a way to watch Michigan football games?
They really should be required to inform you of BS like that before you sign up. I mean, you're stationed in a first world country with outstanding infrastructure, not some desert shit-hole in the middle of nowhere. BTN should really be provided.
In fact, BTN should be providing their network to AFN free of charge.
If you can't figure it out by the Utah game, fuck it, go AWOL.
fly him back to see the games in person. That stealth bomber thing is pretty fast. Can't OP take a ride? Would it fit him and a cooler? When you work for big companies, they sometime let you borrow their modes of transportation. Quit being so cheap, government!

real time: use myp2p or firstrow sports. Stream quality will be an issue.
not real time: media blackout and download the torrent when you wake up.
If you're not in the Americas, games will be on well into Saturday evening (Europe) or way early Sunday morning (ME/Asia). Don't mess up your social life/sleep schedule for a football game. DL the torrent as you're making breakfast/banging the hot piece, and by the time you're finished, you can watch it, commercial free.
You're welcome.
Where do you find the torrents? I've never been a torrent person and haven't had luck trying to figure this out/google it myself.
Hiya,
I am a first time poster, though been reading for just over a year. I find vipbox.bix/football ok, they show lot's of games, but it depends on who is watching them in the US. The picture quality varies from HD to poor. The only problem I have is with the Pop-ups when you first log-in. They are either betting shops or porn. Once you first select the game, they tend to be alright and not repetitive.
There are some other good responses here that I will defo try this fall.
Go Blue!
We needed to add Seoul National University.
I'm very interested in this topic as well. Will be in London for opener, first time being abroad for a Michigan game. The trick with that game is Fox Sports 1. I've heard the mobile app is crap. It will be 1:30 in the AM at kickoff so bars will be closed and even if they were open not sure they would have that channel. I has a concern.
I lived in Europe 2011-2014 and found Slingbox to be the gold standard and the expat sports fan's best friend. Not only was it like watching TV in the States, but we were able to DVR programming remotely and then stream it at our time, which was a great solution to the time zone problem.
Downside is cost. Depending on the cable/satellite hookup options at the host end, you could be paying for a lot of programming that you may (probably) don't care about.
I have Comcast here in the US and have had varying degrees of success with their remote access service for channels like BTN. Sometimes it works great, but more times than not it doesn't.
ESPN Player "NCAA College Pass" has many of our games (and lots of other good ones). It costs 22 euros per month or 120 for the year (which I get because they have a lot of our BB games)
For the BTN games I have used several P2P networks over the years. Most have been shut down and the quality was always meh. This year I have switched to http://www.fanslounge.tv/ and the quality is much better. This one would be my second choice: http://www.gofeed2all.eu/type/football.html
Good Luck!
The best way to watch Michigan game is espn3 and BTN2GO.
you will need two things.
1. a VPN account that you can link to a US based server. I paid about 50$ a year for a VPN service when i was there.
2. a subscription to a cable network in US. My verizon FIOS account somehow continued working when I was in HK even I have stopped the service. Otherwise, find a friend or relative who don't mind to share their password with you.
KODI plus Amazon Firestick or a tablet should get you everything. A Dish/DirecTV login will almost guarantee it.
There's a small learning curve with kodi but if you are on here you should be able to figure it out.
