Big stop, Go Blue!  Glad to see them playing well, but I think I'm going to be nervous until the final whistle.

Go Blue!

Great turnaround in the second half.

The football game at ND,

The football game at ND, which is usually broadcast on NBC.  I don't remember though; I just seem to recall that nbcsports has had free streams.

For the past ~3 years, I've

For the past ~3 years, I've used a vpn and then logged into a comcast account (you need to know someone or have your own) which allows for streaming of btn and espn among other things.  You might not even need the vpn, but I had better success with it.  There are usually streams available, but the quality can be poor.  NBCsports might have even have had a free stream of the ND game.   I've always been able to find a stream, sometimes with a little more searching needed.

It's not watching, but as a last resort mgoblue always has an audio stream, which has better announcing anyway.

Disapointing we don't take it

Disapointing we don't take it more seriously, or are there other reasons.  I suppose it is good experience for younger players though.

Thanks for the heads up about

Thanks for the heads up about the NBC stream, much better quality.  Go USA.

Calyptors?

Are you thinking of the calyptors?

That doesn't make any sense.

800! Congrats Red!  And in great fashion, at home with a sweep against #9.

Good start to the weekend.

Good start to the weekend.  Apparently Minnesota didn't shake hands?

Ok thanks, not just me

hear*

Ok thanks, not just me then.   Yes pause eliminates one for me as well, just annoying not being able to control it.

Woo Goal!

Double Audio

Anyone else get double audio from the mgoblue live audio?  If I pause it I still here everything.  There seem to be two audio streams going...

Hahaha no good.

Hahaha no good.

Good for the students who

Good for the students who will still be students next year.

Agreed.  It adds nothing but

Agreed.  It adds nothing but disappointment everytime I hear it.

Is there a new arena

Is there a new arena announcer?  I'm listening on the radio and whoever I heard in the background sounds different.

Yay Hockey!

Finally.  I feel like I always have to check my expecations with the hockey team.  Here's to hopefully not underperforming.

I can't believe we let Wisc

I can't believe we let Wisc back to one point.

Stauskas steps up!

Happy New Year.  Here's to

Happy New Year.  Here's to something better than 2013.

Awesome, I didn't know he had

Awesome, I didn't know he had moved up.  And he wins the opening faceoff!

Hopefully all this attention

Hopefully all this attention in AA pays off for the University too.  I like all of the reminders they're showing of how awesome the Big House is.

This changes everything

Happy Birthday USA!

Since when did this change,

Since when did this change, this year?  A year ago, new grad students got treated ~like freshman and those continuing on from ugrad got to keep their priority.

Wow

Wow.  Woke up to some delicous highlights this morning.  Was that a Rhode Island flag for DeBlois?  I barely caught it on the highlights.

The same

I'm in the same boat (overseas) and these videos are really nice because these games start late eastern time.

Is it?  I see Smith and

Is it?  I see Smith and Gardner have it under their nameplate, but not most of the others.

Indeed

Indeed, I haven't fully explored the beer options at the local store, but I was happy to find Duvel on the shelf.   I haven't had time to explore all the brands I'm unfamiliar with.  Still the shelf space devoted to beer is quite small.   Wine flows cheap and plenty though....

Tawny Port

Tawny port and a duvel in the fridge.  I miss the beer selection in the US.  Go Blue from France.

It went about as I expected.

It went about as I expected.  Our defense held them fairly well and gave up a few big chuck plays.  A little disapointed in the lack of offense, but they seem to know how to shut down Denard on the ground.  It's good to know we can win even if denard isn't guaranteeing 5+ yards every play.

Surprised by the lack of bubble/laser/whatever screen play when the MSU corners were 7-10 yards off of our WRs.

A good game to do it

900.

Thanks

Thanks for the photos.  So this is what a 7D and L glass can do for you.

This....

http://www.thefirstrow.eu/ (chrome + adblock is wonderful) I also live overseas, this does it for me when the more legitimate sources fail.

In addition to the history

I'll miss having a track to go run on.  Ferry field was a convenient distance from the south campus housing area.

Exciting

(Sorry if this shows up twice, I tried posting 30 minutes ago and it didn't work)

I just wanted to add a couple things. I didn't read all the throughly, but I thought I'd chime in from CERN.  I'm a grad student over here.

The Higgs mechanism and particle have been predicted in one way or another for ~40 years, so this is huge.  It's not often you have these timescales, several experiments, and the (not 100% yet) correct answer.  We're not quite ready to say it's the Higgs boson as predicted. Although we know something similar is there, we have to measure the properties to see how they line up with a couple different models (e.g. Standard Model or Super Symmetry).

The mechanism gives us a way to give fundamental particles mass, e.g. quarks, electrons, W bosons, but not the photon!  It's starts getting more complicated, but without this the theory has massless particles and we have to put in the masses 'by hand.'  It's a common misconception that the mechanism gives mass to everything.  This is wrong and easily seen in the case of a proton, where the quarks make up 1% of its mass.  The rest comes from binding energy

Michigan played a role!  There are many factulty and students working (and who have worked) in Ann Arbor and at CERN on the Higgs search.  Even more,  the tubes for the some of the muon detector in ATLAS were built at Michigan.
