OT: Colbert takes over "Only in Monroe" Public Access show
This made absolutely no sense. He did the entire show which included an interview with Eminem. It was bizarre from start to finish, I would love to know how this was actually arranged.
Scroll down for the "Only in Monroe" show for July.
"Come by the station and pick up this check for four dollars and seventy-five cents and let the healing begin".
I was falling out of my chair during that segment. If only public access in various locations in SE Michigan were like that every day.
If he was in on it, his acting skills have improved considerably since 8 Mile.
He looked like he was about to hit Colbert when he asked what he had done in the past and when he was going to realize he wasn't going to make it and get a real job.
Eminem doesn't stumble into an interview in Monroe Michigan and get totally surprised by Colbert. There is no way he signs on to do something like that without knowing exactly what he is getting into. Would he show up to do the interview if Colbert weren't there?
"Eminem, this is 'Only in Monroe' calling. Would you come down to our station for an interview?"
"'Only in Monroe?' Wow! I'll be right there!"
"Stephen Colbert is our guest host."
"Never heard of him, but I'm already in my car headed south. This is a great chance to plug my new movie!"
He knew.

I want to play poker with any/all that did not get that Eminem was in on it.
(For those that missed the numerous "tells" that Eminem and Colbert gave, simply go to the end and witness Eminem pageant waving with Colbert after the "oh, you were the guy with Elton John at the Grammy's!" chat.)
He is a national treasure.
This is pure win.
thanks OP
I see what you did there.

Apparently Colbert brought him along, unbeknownst to the MPACT crew...so he had to be on it.
On a side note, I am from Ida, which is like 5 minutes away! So random, yet so cool!
So Coach Harbaugh could've been interviewed by Stephen Colbert today instead of that fool? He would've reached a wider and younger audience as well. Plus, Colbert is on television - Cowturd is on the radio because no one wants to see his ugly mug.
get over it
I watched most of this earlier, it was hysterical. Right off the bat I was laughing way harder than I expected.

I laughed through the entire thing, hope he does more of this. Maybe if he comes back in August he can interview HARBAUGH
Yep, see at the end, a "copywright 'The Late Show'" tag.
I seriously wish MM was in the dark about the whole thing...it had me cracking up.
Colbert (on driving down to Monroe): "...Plus with all the flooding...You hear the river's raised and has crusted?"
Eminem "I...did not"
Colbert "The important thing is just don't drink any sewage, for the next 24 hours. Fight it"
...
Colbert (on Eminem preparing for retirement and pursuing music): "at some point you have to be humble and say 'maybe it doesn't happen for me'...maybe it doesn't happen for you, Marshall"
Em "...you really don't know?.... I mean I put out quite a few albums"
Colbert "I'm sure that feels good"
Em "It does"
Colbert "Well good. Doesn't pay the rent"
That's the river that runs through Monroe.
Holy shit this is gold.

That was hilarious. I highly recommend that you invest 41 minutes of your life here... you won't regret it. Seriously... it's cool.
I'm Francisco Bizarro, yes I'm the real Bizarro, all these other Bizarros are fake, sí, claro. So won't the real Bizzaro please stand up? Please stand up? Please stand up?

Finally, something cool coming out of my hometown! I can't remember the last time we were in the news/trending on facebook for something positive.
the fake personality on his new show, or if he will be more real like the rest of the late-nite hosts. I thought that when he left his last show that he would be changing his act, but this seemed a lot like the old Stephen.
He's said the fake personality will not be in the new late night CBS show. That will be straight up, like Letterman.
He's dropping the fake conservative pundit aspect, but it seems like he'll be maintaining the rest.
Colbert is an actor and writer and the self centered bufoon has been his stock in trade for over 20 years now. His Late Show promos thus far have all displayed the same sense of pomposity and surrealism that was present in the Report, only sans politics.
