Directed at people who were standing on top of the seats, if youi want to call them that.
If you can call them what? People?
Thought went through my head

The logical response to "Down in front" in those situations is just a simple "Up in back"
These threads don't seem to take common courtesy into account. And the fact that not everyone in the stadium is a twenty-something who doesn't realize they're not in the student section anymore.
If you're the only person standing in your section on a huge 3rd down play, I'd argue your section is doing it wrong. To be fair, I just graduated a week ago so my only experience is in the student section, but you'd think the majority of the stadium would want to get up for the game changing moments
...I have a selection of fine cheeses, marcona almonds and quince paste arranged on an artisinal breadboard on my lap. How precisely am I supposed to stand up so I can see the game?
...they both pair nicely with Basque mountain cheeses. It's pretty much how everyone does it in Section 22.
There's a reason people call it, "the quietest 110,000 people in the country".
We're literally one the calmest fan-bases in the country.
It's just the culture. It's so civil. Remember the statistic about how UM-Football season-ticket-holders are outliers in their likelihood of purchasing/attending any other sporting event?
I sort of like it though. UofM IS a VERY NERDY school let's not forget!
But, like anything extreme, it sort of goes both ways. On one hand I'd love for more energy and noise to cheer on the team. On the other, I really enjoy being able to sit-down, watch the game, and having intelligent/entertaining/funny conversations with other fans in the stadium, and not having to yell just to communicate the entire time.
I've always found the absurdly civil atmostphere kind of charming!
Meh, I generally like to stand but if it's me and my buddies as the only row standing in the section, then you look like a dick.
There's a reason why the Big House is pathetically quiet. (and it's not only the architecture)
No but I'm willing to bet a person standing is a lot more hype about a game than a person sitting.
The lack of excitement is dissappointing in the other sections of the Big House compared to other stadiums in the country. (Night games are the exception; everyone is excited for those)

If a bear shits in the woods can a falling tree hear the noise the Pope makes being Catholic in Michigan Stadium?
The architecture argument was always non-sensical. Notre Dame Stadium had the exact same blueprint as the pre-skybox Michigan Stadium (obviously just on a smaller scale) and was significantly louder.
Notre Dame stadium is not loud, nor has it ever been loud. Even for the night games.
Well...there is this
...isn't the skybox, it is the shallow bowl geometry. We analyzed it in our graduate architectural acoustics class with Dr. Moji Navvab. Notre Dame Stadium, while smaller, has steeper sides which keep more noise within the stadium.
Keep in mind that my father who has been attending games in person for 60 seasons has a rare form of cancer that has caused him to have 3 knee surgeries and while the golf cart taking us to our seats from the parking space is nice, he cannot stand up anymore. He would love to, but he can't. I OTOH do stand when those in front of me are standing like on big 3rd downs.

If you're the only person sitting, stand up.
If you're the only person standing, sit down.
If you're the only person posting stupid topics on MGoBoard, stop it.
"If you're the only person standing on your section and you're yelling at everyone behind you, you're doing it wrong."
Agreed. I'm amused at the people who think it's perfectly OK to stand up in (say) row 10 and expect that the other seventy+ rows will follow suit without complaining.
I think this is also true, btw:
If you're the only person sitting on your section and you're yelling at everyone standing, you're doing it wrong.
Of course you said "sorry", you're Canadian.

Is that drunk Michigan State fan or Mississippi State fan? Either one makes sense
True, but some MSU fans bought SDSU t-shirts to troll us in the tournament when it was at the Palace, it doesn't seem too out of the realm of possibility that they'd buy a cowbell to troll us at the Gator Bowl.
