Snowflakes Thread: Coaching
This will be the thread for your various snowflakes about the coaching and decision-making in general throughout the game. We can even throw in special teams at no extra charge and offer a factory warranty on this thread (not valid in Morristown, NJ due to a very dumb ordinance).

why can't the users create these anymore? it was better when it was an organic thing, not automatic sterile "post your thoughts on this here" type thread...
just sayin
November 1st, 2014 at 7:21 PM ^
These threads are meant to catch the thoughts that by themselves would probably not qualify as threads unto themselves, not stifle the discussion. I've mentioned before that if there is a good in-depth discussion of a specfic player, sequence, etc...it stays because those deserve their own discussions usually.
It's also much more convenient for modding purposes as well as the board's purposes, I would think, if we do not have dozens (more after losses, I bet) of individual observations which may lack the detail and depth to really stand alone. Even worse, several threads discussing the same event if a particular incident stuck out during the game.
I know they aren't popular in some circles, but at least in my own opinion, it helps keep the better threads separate if there is a respository for hot takes and and more brief remarks.
So, the users can do this - these threads are mostly meant to mitigate redundancies and make the board and easier read for everyone. It's not perfect obviously, and I am always willing to discuss the policy, of course.

Not sure why it bugs me, it just seems like these threads used to get a lot more activity than they do now. I understand your reasoning, and judging by the voting on my original comment I'm not in the majority on this so I will forever hold my peace.
Thanks for responding.

But I like automatic sterile things- is there anything really better than wet wipes?

Good win...cant wait for them to leave on Dec 1.

but this team has been very consistent all year.
Against good teams, we get worked. 0-31 ND, 10-26 Utah, 11-35 Sparty.
Against mediocre teams, we play close games. 24-26 Rutgers, 18-13 PSU.
Against butt-awful teams, we win easily. 52-14 App St, 34-10 NTM, 34-10 Indiana w/no QB.
The one exception to this rule came when we decided to play Morris, which effectively turned Minnesota from a mediocre opponent into a strong opponent.

I hope PSU does qualify as "mediocre," because Maryland had to kick a last-second FG to beat PSU today. I would love to see this team get six wins and go into Columbus with a bid to a crappy bowl against a crappy team wrapped up. They would play with absolutely nothing to lose.
Most of all, they would know that they could lose to OSU and still finish over .500 by beating a MAC team or some other equivalent.

Man, I hear ya, but can't we just enjoy a win? They don't come very often you know

was still poor. What is the deal with the end of the half? Does Hoke think if you score with less than 2 minutes left in a half that the points don't count? I cheered mightily when they called a timeout only to watch them let Indiana bleed 40 seconds on 4th down and then run 4 straight downs to go into halftime.
November 2nd, 2014 at 12:31 AM ^
Agree, don't understand the end of the 1st half. Maybe he didn't want to run up the score.

as if he has been told he is done after the season.
Anyone that takes solace from this win is delusional. Indiana is a bad team made worse without a college QB. To compound matters they choose to hold out thier best runner for almost an entire half. It is if Indiana decided before the game they were going to lose.
It was a very sad display of collegiate competiveness.

Hoke seemed wistful (?) during the on field post game interview. Can't put my finger on it, but something was different.
November 1st, 2014 at 8:25 PM ^
Marie Antoinette was wistful also heading to the platform

He knows he won't have DB in film sessions tomorrow. That would make me happy too. That arrogant ass has to be a big downer in those meetings.
November 1st, 2014 at 10:05 PM ^
I don't think 'wistful' means what you think it means.
November 1st, 2014 at 8:42 PM ^
He seemed sad.
November 1st, 2014 at 9:52 PM ^
All Hoke has to do to get happy again is pull out his phone and look at his bank account- he will have far more than any of us
November 1st, 2014 at 11:44 PM ^
I hope Hoke gets his full buyout like Brandon did. Hoke had to work for a micromanaging POS for almost four years at a job that is already a pressure cooker. He deserves the money, even if he was in over his head.

for the coaching staff today. They needed something good to happen.

Mentioned in the Offense thread but the unblocked WR screens to the boundary side of the field are unbelievably stupid. Especially on 2nd and 10.

Doubt it.
If they make a bowl there's a good chance it'll be like last year. Get exploited by a team with a similar record that plays in a better conference. It'll be last year and 2010 all over again.

I don't think it is enough to save his job. I think he's a goner no matter what he does. I do hope th eteam can win the remainder of their games!
November 1st, 2014 at 6:57 PM ^
If I hadn't watched the game, I'd still know Michigan won, because this thread is over 15 minutes old and still has nowhere near 100 posts.

we hate losing more than love winning
Especially against Indiana though
