Moreover, he also said that in the last coaching search after RR's firing, when he sat down with the head coaches of NW, OSU and a third major program which I can't remember, the very first question those coaches asked him was whether it was true that Michigan's AD sits in on film sessions with coaches.
I found those statements incredibly damming, especially from a guy who chooses his words carefully.
Another commentator then brought up a great point: if both those statements are true, you've now taken your two top candidates, as well as a host of others, solely because of the personality of your AD.
That blows my mind. The guy has to go.

Former players didn't care for the spike thing. (according to Bacon)

This team has taken the identity of the coach. All symbol, no substance. It's sad.

spike your opponent's field, wouldn't it make more sense to do it AFTER you won the game rather than before you got your butts kicked?
October 26th, 2014 at 1:02 PM ^
How many players, former and current, are pissed that the FSU Injun Joe thrust a spear into the Block M before beating the tar out of Michigan? Nobody remembers because nobody wants to remember. Had Michigan won yesterday the Bolden Stake would have become part of the Michigan football lore.
October 26th, 2014 at 3:37 PM ^
I was at that game, and I have absolutely no recollection that at any time a flaming spear was thrust into the "Block M" at the center of the field.
Are you certain that it happened, or did you just now make it up? Can you point to any primary source (photograph or article) that discusses it, or even a photograph or TV clip showing the incident?
I want to remember.

I love Jamie Morris, will always be over the top with his positivity despite obvious suck in the program.
Bacon though will have to be politically correct since he is on WTKA today.

throwing statements out there without context. " Coaches were consoling Steven Threet as he cried in the locker room." Context? None ever offered. What happened after that? He doesn't say. 35 former players have allegedly signed a petition and sent it to the regents. No names offered to substantiate the letter. Not even a copy of the letter with the names blacked out was offered as evidence.
Lloyd Carr signing away transfer papers. To whom, for what reasons? Bacon heard about it, supposedly from certain players..why no intellectual curiousity to flesh out the claims? Lloyd Carr was running around Michigan sabotaging the recruiting environment. Really? Which schools, about what players, which HS coaches? JUB doesn't say, but because like Luke, he wrote it down, it is therefore Gospel.
A lot of people cheer on JUB without question, perhaps because he confirms what they want to believe. To me, JUB knows his audience and is loath to expand on what he says lest he lose that audience.

has the substance of a null set. Even the unnamed captain isn't willing to give substance. BTW, the story as related here on MGOBLOG, is that the letter was sent to a regent.
No longer local. Was local for 20 years and still have much family in Michigan, and Ann Arbor specifically, that are visited with some frequency. I'm not sure what that has to do with understanding there is a lack of context being offered.

So the alternative is that Bacon and the unnamed captain are both lying about it, as well as others, just because. Why would that happen?
October 26th, 2014 at 12:32 PM ^
But he not only identified himself, he also said he was one of the guys who had organized the petiiton. I think he was the captain of the '74 or '75 squad.
As for the "not what sure what being local has to do with anything" ... Because you didn't have the benefit of hearing the interview that I heard.

and not heard. Or, fancy that, most radio stations live stream their shows. WTKA does and I often listen. Short of that I often listen to the pod casts of the AM broadcast.

What top coach will want to come, when Brandon is on the hot seat. Which makes a lot of sense.
October 26th, 2014 at 10:45 AM ^
President Schlissel doesn't appear to give a hoot about the athletic department and won't be making any push for a new AD. The Regents seem equally as apt to support their party before they support their school. But I still say that Brandon should stay on to see the through the completion of the Athletic campus expansion, he really has done so much for the Athletic Department that can't be negated by Coach Hoke's failures.

1. You're off base with every aspect of your comment. This issue is top of mind for Schlissel right now. He knows it's not going away and is going to make a thoughful decision, as he normally does. Brandon should not stay on, he's the root of all these problems and needs to go.
2. Get rid of your signature. I'm sure the cats thing is a good cause and all, but this isn't the place for that kind of advertisment (or gluten free bs).
