nd beats msu and usc beats nd and then sanity is restored to the universe?

Holy shit, what a great game.
The quality of a CFB weekend is so much better when we're not playing.

ASU up 14-0 vs Stanford. Going to be ND's toughest game the rest of the way.
ASU has only 2 returning starters on defense and is starting 3 true freshman on defense. Not bad. Getting better as the year goes by. what a concept.

I wasn't high on Graham, and I'm still not as high as other guys like Patterson, but after watching other teams play football today, just give me ANYBODY that seems like they're competent!
October 19th, 2014 at 1:06 AM ^
I've seen this a couple times now. Where did this Patterson talk come from? Dude has been at TCU for 15 years. He's the man there. He didnt leave when he was hot after their dream season a few years back. And now they are doing well in the Big 12 and he gets to recruit Texas. Why would he think about UM?
October 18th, 2014 at 11:54 PM ^
Man I was hoping Winston said something really dumb on camera there. "Ya baby let's get this...I gotta bounce though, got an authograph session. Tell the team I said good game".
October 18th, 2014 at 11:55 PM ^
Well damn - I didn't get struck by lightning. I was pulling for ND there.

For the love of god, the doom and gloom talk is getting real old.....we know we aren't good this year or last...to act like we can never be good again is ridiculous.
Notre Dame wasn't very good before Kelly, even the first couple years with him they were mediocre. Florida State had some very average years, so have Bama, USC, Texas, Oklahoma etc...please stop saying Michigan will never field a top 10 to top 5 level squad again. We will, it may just take some time to figure it out. Blue blood programs with over 100 years of winning history don't just die in college football.
Have some perspective about these things people

A good coach could take the roster we have and find 9+ wins. We've been recruiting like a playoff team, we just need a playoff coaching staff

ASU is shutting oout Stanford 14-0 at the half with their backup QB. Kelly will be back for the ND game. That will be ASU's superbowl.
October 19th, 2014 at 1:10 AM ^
Bercovici played the last two weeks and threw for 998 yards, so it's not like he's a scrub. Despite what Morris and Bellomy have shown, it is possible to have capable back-up QB's.

Don't think you can drop ND too much in the polls after this. Maybe Bama jumps them - that's probably it.
October 18th, 2014 at 11:57 PM ^
super enjoyable game and Brian Kelly hoisted himself on his own petard.
It ain't much, but I'll take it.

Blowouts against ND are great, but you do still have to appreciate those games that taunt Irish fans with the hope of winning, just to see them crushed.
October 19th, 2014 at 12:17 AM ^

After watching a couple of games today, my only thought was... Man we really do suck at football. And how much are we lagging behind right now? At least 10-15 years backward I'll say. (Refer to Brian's tweet about Denard, Devin and giving Hoke a bazooka.)
October 18th, 2014 at 11:59 PM ^
So Ole Miss, FSU, Oregon, and TCU look to have best shots at playoff spots.
October 19th, 2014 at 12:03 AM ^
October 19th, 2014 at 12:07 AM ^
So 12-1 Oregon with a win convincing win over MSU is going to get left out for ND. If the media was voting maybe, but they're not.

October 19th, 2014 at 12:00 AM ^
If he just goes a little easier on that pick play they don't call it and this is a different outcome. That's where you need more of an "influence" block, and the play was going to still be open.

Alabama, Auburn, and Oregon would be to differ. FSU isn't what they were last year and their best win before ND was Ok St..... who get destroyed by TCU today in epic fashion.
October 19th, 2014 at 12:10 AM ^
Yeah, but you could employ the "they haven't played X" argument anywhere, right Ghost?
October 19th, 2014 at 12:17 AM ^
Do you seriously think ND would beat Alabama?
If Alabama or Auburn wins out they will be ranked in front of ND. They will have beaten each other plus one of the Mississipi teams.
