Evening / Late Night Games Open Thread
I was frankly shocked that no such thread was currently up as we're typically so conscious of the slate. No matter, a few notable ones:
Florida State / Oklahoma State - currently 10-0 FSU with the first quarter nearly over.
LSU / Wisconsin - this should be an interesting one. I think it is the only SEC / Big Ten game scheduled this season.
Oregon / South Dakota - Prediction? Pain. No, seriously, the line has Oregon winning by an amount yet to be computed.

Seems like Pac-10 refs working hard to hose OSU (ntOSU).

PI is.
Clemson Georgia.
(I probably should have watched the replay instead of missing it while typing my disgust here, though).

The big twelve added one last year and we are doing the same this year.
I believe.
The SEC is adding one this year, too.
Now whether they're all given the same role, I have no idea.
August 30th, 2014 at 8:57 PM ^
I believe the Big XII was the first to do it, and the Big Ten and ACC have since followed suit. It is definitely a conferce-to-conference thing, from what I remember. The NCAA did give the go-ahead to conferences to do this if they wanted. I think the concern was missing things on backside runs, holding calls, possible chops and a few other things.

So no extra ref in the playoff games? I wonder what that will do to the conference crews who use the extra guy. Will they not be used to making calls/watching what they need to see?

What a run by UGA frosh RB. Holy cow!
August 30th, 2014 at 8:54 PM ^
I was going to say the same thing. Was hoping for that type of thing this/last year from green/smith.
August 30th, 2014 at 8:56 PM ^
But dang, that's some bad tackling.
August 30th, 2014 at 8:54 PM ^
No major upsets today, so far.

Anyone else watching their draftkings team? I'm in the 600s (top 1150 get paid) and hoping to hold on. I have no players left.

their sweeps look pretty tough to stop and their running backs are awesome.

I agree they have the best stable but I have to think Melvin Gordon is the best back in the country.

Lots of big games this opening weekend compared to other years.
August 30th, 2014 at 9:00 PM ^
Cowboys Classic: Alabama vs USC
LSU-Wisconsin at Lambeau Field
UCLA at Texas A&M
Clemson at Auburn
Notre Dame at Texas
and the biggest game of them all:
Michigan vs Hawaii
August 30th, 2014 at 9:11 PM ^
don't you mean MIchigan vs. whoever we get to replace the former football program of the University of Hawaii?
August 30th, 2014 at 9:01 PM ^
Next week's are huge. Us v ND, MSU v Oregon, OSU v VaTech, USC v Stanford and Eastern v Florida
August 30th, 2014 at 8:57 PM ^
The Idaho-Florida game has been on weather delay for 2 hours now.
How come the Wisconsin-LSU game isn't at the Astrodome in Houston? That's a state-of-the-art facility.

And both times it was me.
Yes, it's a joke. If the roof was ripped off and the turf was floating on 3 inches of water, it would be an exact replica of the Silverdome.
Although the ceiling in that place is pretty cool looking.

Hard to believe the rankings for Clemson. Not just b/c of the current score, but Clemson looking not even close to UGA in execution, talent, scheme, etc.
August 30th, 2014 at 9:05 PM ^
Clemson is the team always ranked top 10-15, beats up on junk teams, and then falters when facing anyone their talent level. They just happen to be playing that time right out of the gate this year.
August 30th, 2014 at 9:16 PM ^
Clemson, however, does seem to get absolutely destroyed at least once a year recently.
WVU in 2011 (technically 2012)
FSU in 2012.
FSU in 2013.
Georgia in 2014.
Clemson usually beats some pretty decent teams outside of that one game each year where the ball is so absolutely dropped.
The WVU one is probably the worst.

Gurley will be the now rare 1st round RB NFL pick.

So happy UGA has a running game it can lean on right now, or this game could last another 30min.
