What is your pre-game tradition/ritual?
We've all got 'em. Yes, they're necessary. No, they're not crazy.
With Michigan football kicking off tomorrow, I want to know what other members of the MGoBoard need to do before a game to help Michigan to victory.
Big, small, or unique, no tradition or ritual is insignificant. Remember, it's not crazy if it works.
Let's hear it! (unless it requires secrecy)

Eat and eat and eat and eat and drink and drink and drink and drink. Music too. Fight song lots.

After reading this my suspicious nature tells me you are single handedly causing us bad seasons…stop doing this ritual so I can lay blame on some other random nonsense and we can have a good season.

...and OSU likely receives a percentage of your purchase from licensing their name/logo. Your ritual is (albeit in a small way) actually supporting our rivals financially.

A +1 purely for your avatar. You need to post more just so I can see that!

I only eat milksteak boiled over hard.

something that has a connection to the game somehow. Like cooking tail gate food that is from the opposing team's state, sort of like devouring the competition. Then beer. And more beer.

So you'll be grilling up some road kill for this game?
August 29th, 2014 at 8:52 AM ^
but you gotta get out awfully early to do your "shopping" around here, so I think I'll just make a pulled pork on the smoker, some vinegar based sauce and serve in on some rolls topped with cole slaw, Carolina style.

Since Coach Hoke was hired, Michigan has won every home game that I was in attendence. I will be at the game tomorrow.

Well that's good, because if we lost tomorrow this website would self immolate.

but we would probably kill ourselves.

Workout, head to the store for chips, wings or pizza and most of all BEER, then watch College Game Day until the game starts!

thread, the least you could do is tell us your tradition...
I always do pulled pork sandwiches in the slow cooker for the game, and I always drink an all-day IPA. This year it is Flying Dog Easy IPA, delicious...

These days I wake up, park some cars on my front lawn and entertain whatever friends happen to be in town for the game

like firing up the gill, talk M football and listen to jazz fusion with some hard core hip hop.

Much of what passes for "ritual" around here depends on whether or not we're going to be at the game.
If we are going into Ann Arbor, then it is basically falling out of bed, downing some quick breakfast and coffee and putting on the gear and it is off to the tailgates / game.
If we're going to be at home, like for most away games, then I'll usually make a full English breakfast once everyone is up and then get my grill ready for a day of good eating, having begun to marinate meats as early as Thursday. There is usually a beer run sometime in the 11 AM timeframe as well, one of the advantages of having the store at the end of the street. The "M" flag will go up usually around 9 AM as well.

I only drink beer that has been brewed in the state of Michigan on game day Saturdays. Usually Bell's lager of the lakes. It's a tasty light all day drinkable beer.

Lots of MMB hype marching music, followed by a mentally cleansing walk before kickoff.
Also, make sure DVR is set with +3 hour buffer at the end when youth football games overlap with M games.

If you want to sit, eat, drink hangout and are going to cook, getting there at 9 leaves you with not a tremendous amount of time.
Earlier is better, especially with traffic for the first game.

I love to blast the fight song as soon as I wake up. Traditionally, this does not go over well with other people in the house, but I do it anyway. After that, I usually grab a quick bite and start tailgating.
The other ritual is that I always wear the same clothes to the games. I also wear the student T-shirt from my senior year. The thing is starting to get a little wear, but it's now part of my tradition. I also have a lucky pair of glasses I bust out for the big games.
Yup, pathetic, but still fun.

I have to get a pedicure before noon tomorrow - need blue toe nails! I've done that prior to the first game of the season since I moved to NYC almost 10 years ago.

My boys (9 and 10) and I usually start the day by hanging the Michigan flag in front of the house.
Then I'll try to get a workout in ahead of the game.
Put on my favorite Michigan hat and then its gametime.
August 29th, 2014 at 9:20 AM ^
I wear my Adidas cleats...everywhere, all day. My wife hates it! Also will wear whatever I was wearing, if we win, the next week.

But before then, is usually just be nice as possible to everyone and everything I encounter. Karma is a bitch.
