OT: Sunday at The Masters - discussion
It’s a fantastic Sunday morning in A2 - where I’m visiting my kids for a “Dad’s weekend”. I’m enjoying my drink from Black Diesel and wondering what might happen in Augusta, Georgia this afternoon.
It seems the combination of the course and weather has created a very stern test for the golfers - with “moving day” being more of a survival test.
Scheffler will begin the round with a one stroke lead. To me, no more than eight (8) golfers have a chance to win - which are those at -2 or better.
Will you watch? Who will you be cheering for? Anything you’re hoping to see?
Enjoy!
Rooting for Max Homa I suppose followed by Morikawa and then Scheffler. DeChambeau's holeout on 18 was ridiculous and that kept him in it. It will be fun to see what he does, whether he catches fire or implodes.
I will be checking in later today. Lots of projects to get to after being gone for two months. Hoping for a close battle for someone to win the green jacket.
Shipley paired with Tiger, thats alot of pressure on the young man. What weekend even after a disappointing 3rd round. I'm rooting for Max but will be happy with Scottie or Morikawa
I just hope all the golfers have fun.
4 pm tee time at Thornapple Pointe.

Hit em straight 🏌️ Did you ever get to The Links at Bowen Lake last year?
Indeed. At least twice. That's a really good public option and cool clubhouse and bar.
One time while checking in I mentioned MGoBlog and nobody seemed to know what I was talking about.
If you played there on the weekend, I wouldn't have checked you in. I only work weekday mornings. Glad you liked the course. Let's try to connect and play together this summer.🏌️👍

I've liked Homa, since a friend of mine suggested his podcast a couple of years ago. He is a great interview as well and seems to be a funny unassuming guy.

I saw Homa play (and win) on the Web.com Tour a number of years ago. Very impressive in every facet. It would be great to see him in a green jacket.

Contrary to the popular opinion, I want Bryson to make a charge to win. I come to like him and YouTube played a big role in me liking Bryson. He seems like a good guy with some quirk. He's a huge golf nerd who constantly searches for an edge.

Bryson turned me off when he bitched a guy out for reporting the truth because it hurt Bryson's "brand".

Watching Tiger on the Masters app then cheering for Morikawa. I also like Åberg because I’d love to see a first time player win it.

Then Max Homa is your man. 10/10 as a human, top 10 in the world, one of the most likeable professional athletes you'll see, and never won a major. Maybe its the Ryder Cup that does this to me but root American born!

I've been a longtime golf fan, but none of the newer generation of players has jumped out to me to become a favorite, so I'll be rooting for an exciting day and an exciting finish.
I did put a bet on Morikawa to win, but for small change. Scheffler was minus odds to win, so no go there.

I enjoy watching but I don't really care who wins this year.

I'm going a non-LIV golfer wins.
I’ll always root against LIV. Eff those guys. Koepka and DeChambau are already so unlikable. Was really disappointed with Rahm.

I'm a Homasexual today. Let's go Max!
I also have a small bet on Colin Morikawa as well.
One of my favorite days of the year! Sunday at The Masters! Let's Go!!
Max and Colin are both Cal Bears. That is nuts

I always have and will continue to root for The Golden Bear to retain his all time wins at Augusta over Tiger because Woods was crowned all too quickly.

Absolutely love Jack Nicholas but I dont think Tiger was crowned too early... Moreso the wheels just fell off (literally) of him overnight it seems.
So Chris you are making my argument for me in that you crowned Tiger at all.
I am not contesting that Tiger brought more into the sport at a time (HD Picture, Social Media, Coverage, etc.) that his play could be seen and enjoyed by all. However as the relevancy bias would clearly show in hindsight and was the hill many under 40 died on was that what Tiger accomplished before his body betrayed him and his mental state was revealed was that the coronation was too soon.
Golf is played on the longest field in sports...between the ears. How you handle the game on and off the course is where The Golden Bear remains greatest of all time over the course of a career.
Tiger is the 85 BEARS of Golf being the best to ever play but not the best of all time.
I used to ridicule people who put Jack ahead of Tiger. I thought it was just old people wanting to cling to the past. But in hindsight, Jack is the greatest. Tiger had a steep dropoff after 2008 from where he was. Whereas if you look at a Jack's career, he was metronome into his early to mid 40s. And he was still pretty darn good through his late 50s. Runner up at the US Open in 1960. 6th at the Masters in 1998. Tiger would have to contend in the year 2035 at a major to have similar longevity.
F Jack Nicklaus! He’s a buckeye
He is, and that's clearly a major demerit, but he's in that small category of Buckeys that are OK to admire.
Nope.
Not for me! To put this in perspective, I think Tiger Woods is a shitty human being, a sociopath to be more precise. But I can acknowledge that Tiger is the best golfer ever. I'd pick Tiger over Nicklaus any day of the week.

Here's some perspective for you....
Jack won 18 majors.
Jack placed second 19 times in majors.

"Now on the tee, Justin Thomas" and then silence. Pretty much Verne's call for every golfer on 16. He was fine in the day, but it is good he is retiring.
Verne was and is way more than fine. He is a Masters legend as much a part as many of the legendary golfers that have played through there. Sad to throw insults on his final round.
"Maybe......yes sirrrrr!!" Top-5 sports call of all time.
Verne was ALWAYS a minimalist as regards the number of words he used.
His two most famous calls at Augusta (which may be the two most famous calls made by anyone at Augusta) - he used 20 words and 23 syllables.
I just want an American to win ... Annoying that Europe seems to have the upper hand on us in the Ryder Cup.
Go Scottie! Love both in the final pairing! F LIV!
Been expecting Scottie to run away with it a couple times and he just doesn't. About to drop into a three-way tie.
Who cares
Heckuva toonamint so far. Scottie is a closer, though anything can happen, I am pulling for him. Aberg looks like a great young player. Hats off to Jose Marie Olazabal for making the cut and finishing in the top 40, hitting woods for second shots on some par 4s. As a senior citizen I just have a lot of respect for that.
Pretty hard not to get caught up in the run Scheffler is on right now. Reminds me of how dominate Tiger was in his prime. Watching him close this out is pretty fun to watch. Still a lot of tough holes left but he seems locked in.
Was pulling for Morikawa, then for some drama, but Scheffler is a worthy winner
University of Texas with another star golfer in Scheffler.
I don’t follow college golf, but is Texas considered pretty elite? Between him, Spieth, and some others of late, they have had some real talent come through.
