Never made it long enough to find the real killer...tragic
April 11th, 2024 at 11:10 AM ^
I've never seen the Made in America or American Crime Story miniseries--which I've heard are both excellent--but I did watch that Fox interview special a number of years back that was supposed to be tied to the If I Did It book, and it was...something...

Made in America was fantastic. It put the verdict in a context that, although still almost definitely wrong on the merits, at least made some sense.
April 11th, 2024 at 12:05 PM ^
Definitely watch Made in America. Easily one of the best documentaries I've ever seen and it was the first time I ever felt like I completely understood why the jury came back with not guilty.

The American Crime Story miniseries with OJ was really good. Not as good as the following season about Gianni Versace's assassination, but still very good. Season 3 about Monica Lewinsky was a step down or two in quality, but not bad.
Side-note: the Gianni Versace season of American Crime Story is one of the best single seasons of any show I've ever watched. Its not so much about Versace as it is about his assassin, Andrew Cunanan. Darren Criss was friggin' awesome in that role, is a Michigan alum in real life, and gave a "Go Blue" shout-out in his Emmy acceptance speech.

Check out "My brother the serial killer" on Youtube for food for thought as to who killed Nicole and co.

"Food for thought as to who killed Nicole"? Can I wash it down with OJ?
I know he's looking up at us right now.
One of the rare times folks were rooting for cancer to win.
Here's 10 minutes of Norm Macdonald shitting on OJ. Brutal and hilarious.

What can I say about OJ?

Pulp >>>>>>> no pulp
April 11th, 2024 at 11:13 AM ^
Pulp is gross. I dont want floaties in my drink.
April 11th, 2024 at 11:48 AM ^
Yeah, I’d rather not have to chew my orange juice.
I'm down for any orange juice that doesn't murder me
April 11th, 2024 at 11:56 AM ^
For some reason as a kid I called them beatlies. Are there beatlies, I'd ask. If yes, no thanks.
I called em "things".
No "things", thank you.
April 11th, 2024 at 12:27 PM ^
I don't care about pulp either way, but my wife detests it. Therefore, it's been a loooong time since I've chewed orange juice...
April 11th, 2024 at 12:28 PM ^
According to FDA, 1 cup of orange juice is allowed to have 10 fruit fly eggs and 2 maggots.
"Pulp"
I'm pretty sure we are supposed to eat bugs instead of animal meat these days anyway. this just makes you a more efficient consumer
Yea, that'll be a no from me dawg.
I'm an adventurous eater. I've eaten horse, camel etc. When I spent a summer in SE Asia and I tried "bugs" because it was a common fare. It was the only time in my entire trip that I had to take cipro. Never again.

I will die on this hill with you.

Some pulp
You and Tony Soprano would get along swimmingly.

I miss Norm MacDonald now more than ever.

This one wins. Shut down the thread

Full disclosure, I saw a few versions of this on the twitter first.

A man of honor. Unfortunately, my mother now has us both beat. When I texted her to tell her the news, this was her response:
"Do you have an address for the flowers? or should I send gloves?"
April 11th, 2024 at 12:17 PM ^
This was my first thought when I heard the news. I’m not sure if that says more about me, Norm, or OJ.

Topical for this blog:
“This week, in the O.J. Simpson civil trial, the focus shifted from the defendant, to the alleged character flaws of Nicole Brown Simpson. Attorneys for O.J. hammered away at her lifestyle, citing sexual promiscuity, drug use, and the fact that she married a double murderer.”
Not mine, but someone wrote “I’m sure if Norm were here, he’d have a comment something like ‘at least OJ can rest in peace knowing Nicole’s killer is finally dead.’”

Good.

I second this.

Death is said to be from cancer.
I'm never gonna stop searching for the real killer.

Rest

Cancer did what the bumbling prosecutors could not do and that's put OJ on ice.
April 11th, 2024 at 12:02 PM ^
I dunno........I'm guessing OJ is feeling rather hot right now.
This ^^^
April 11th, 2024 at 12:59 PM ^
The tapes of the lead detective using the N word in the most offensive ways possible did the prosecutors no favors. I don't think it was possible to recover from that.
There was much more to it than that. If you are interested in a full rundown things from an informed legal perspective, read "Outrage" the Vincent Bugliosi book on it. Bugliosi was the lead prosecutor in the Manson family murders and was able to get Manson convicted (along with a death sentence) even though Manson wasn't active participant in the killings. He also wrote the definitive book on that (Helter Skelter) along with a couple other great true crime stories.

I was just in Brentwood last week for spring break with the kids and trying to explain how tragic and crazy the whole thing was. It's difficult to find a modern analog for OJ... so popular and charismatic, such a shock when it became apparent that he was involved. RIP to Ron and Nicole.
April 11th, 2024 at 11:29 AM ^
The only modern-day comparisons, I think, would be the Rock or Tiger.
Tiger --- shoot, his sexcapades, which obviously weren't a great thing for his marriage but neither were they a crime --- that was front-page news for months!
April 11th, 2024 at 11:49 AM ^
I think Tiger would be the closest we could get.
April 11th, 2024 at 12:01 PM ^
"... so popular and charismatic ..."
I'd be OK with half of that (popular). Tiger's public persona was painfully bland. I remember thinking he was a perfect fit for the Accenture ads. On the plus side, it made the disclosures (like this one: https://nypost.com/2010/04/08/tiger-bedded-neighbors-21-year-old-daughter/) more entertaining.
April 11th, 2024 at 12:21 PM ^
Tiger is a sociopath, and while his vices are bad, Tiger is nowhere near OJ.
I thought everyone murders???
