THE OVERVIEW
Just the cards.
THE US
My graphic [click to embiggen]:
No Dug, no Nkamhoua, no stars. They'll probably start Tschetter over Jackson but whatever.
THE LINEUP CARD
My graphic [click for big]:
Ty Berry is a big loss because Northwestern was rolling mostly six deep and an extra big when he's needed. Martinelli had to draw into the starting lineup, and they've been experimenting with different bench players. Blake Smith hadn't played all year until 10 minutes last game.
THE SECTION WHERE I PREDICT THE SAME THING KENPOM DOES
Northwestern by 9.

Every Northwestern preview from now on really should have a video clip of Collins getting ejected at the end of the Purdue game. That may have been the best 60 seconds of B1G action this entire season.

He's just got that dawg in him.

Welp, it happened and we've finally made it to the "Just the cards" point in this abysmal season. I don't fault you, Seth and the apathy dripping from the post speaks volumes to the general vibe around this team.
As is the case with most horrendous teams in sports, you're either really bad but at least entertaining to watch with a pulse (Scott Frost-era Nebraska football) or really bad but extremely boring with the excitement of a dead moth. Guess which category Juwan Howard's team falls into.

"Chris Collins Index: 14%"

I don't blame you but I wish you didn't do it like this

did Michigan play against MSU a couple days ago? I missed the write up

We actually played fairly well for 33 minutes, and the score was tied at that point. Unfortunately, we neglected to score any points the rest of the way.

This will be the mantra of Howard's basketball teams in a nutshell...
"Played well for X amount of minutes only to lose within the last X amount of minutes"
February 22nd, 2024 at 9:27 PM ^
Or the last "Y" number of minutes.

This isn't your common scatter chart. Considering my variables are the same unit of measurement, I believe my statement still rings true.

I know it reveals me as a shallow person but I confess that I miss making fun of other teams and other coaches.
February 22nd, 2024 at 6:13 PM ^
I guess you either die a champion or live long enough to become "just the cards" game preview.

I think for this season only you can defy kenpom in your predictions. Hard to jinx yourself when you predict we lose by more than what kenpom thinks.

They'll probably start Tschetter over Jackson but whatever.
Tschetter is out tonight. Lord, this could be the worst Michigan team of my lifetime, and I am old.

There have been some bad to mediocre teams through the years but the only ones that remind me of this are 1981-82 because that team was bad and 2006-07 and 2022-23 because they checked out. This one could be the worst because the 1981-82 started off bad but made an effort to come together towards the end of the season going 6-12 in conference. This team is bad and has checked out.

I'm not sure they ever checked in. I think their reservation was lost in the portal.
That was some run Blake had in overtime, a beautiful thing to behold.

The picture of Corum in the end zone next to the picture of Burke after hitting the shot against Kansas is a classic.

Now that I know that, I think I will watch the game. It’s for the same reason that people slowdown on the highway to view a wreck.

Yeah, I had a discussion with a UM fan about this and it's basically this team or the last Ellerbe/first Amaker teams where Gavin Groninger was basically getting starter minutes. Per KenPom apparently the worst ever was the 2001 one that went 10-18 had the worst defense of any P5 program in the country. This might well challenge that title.

Will Juwan be fired at seasons end?
February 22nd, 2024 at 8:33 PM ^
Collins should be the next Michigan coach. If he can win there with their admission standards and lack of NIL he can win at Michigan!

Jesus, that's a lot of cyan.
