1st half will most likely be fine. It is the 2nd half where we look like a JV team

Well I see a good start again. But as we all know it’s the second half of games that are worrisome

Sing to the colors that float in the light, hurrah for the pink and white
Hey, whatever works. I still remember when MAAR went off wearing the pink sneakers.

That start for Reed might have been the most impressive thing he’s done at Michigan. Why they go away from him is mind boggling.

How big of a lead do we need at half to avoid a collapse?
February 3rd, 2024 at 4:43 PM ^
12? 15? We are playing Rutgers, so maybe as low as 8.

Michigan by ten.. 31-21 with under four minutes remaining in the first half…
February 3rd, 2024 at 4:54 PM ^
Okay. Good thinking. Get your crappy stretch out of the way in the first half .
February 3rd, 2024 at 4:56 PM ^
4 quick points to end the half to avoid a first half collapse. Up by 9. I think this is a 50-50 proposition. We'll see how it opens up.
February 3rd, 2024 at 4:58 PM ^
Still too many turnovers, scoring droughts, and listless play. So perhaps this little 4-0 spurt to end the half can propel us to better play in the second half.

I figured out why our defense is atrocious. Reed switches on screens way too easily. Granted, he may be able to guard 1-5, but his teammates can’t. So what you see over and over again is the opponent running pick and roll. Instead of fighting through the screen (that requires effort) Michigan just concedes the switch. So now Reed is guarding the 1, but Dug (or whoever) is guarding Reed’s man. One pass and the opponent has an easy shot in the paint.

When I see John Beilein doing the half time show for the big ten network makes me wish he would come back. First thing he brings up is the 11 turnovers. His teams were usually always one of the nations best in not turning the ball over. Also, his teams did not foul a lot. Both huge stats in winning games.

My thoughts are despite the usual somewhat well played 1st half, the 2nd half is usually not good, that is indicative of bad coaching, lack of strategy to go along with an undisciplined level of play.
11 TO's in the 1st half is par for the course under Juwan. The basketball IQ on this squad is not good. So many stupid mistakes like TO's and screen fouls just to name a couple of things is frustrating.
February 3rd, 2024 at 5:12 PM ^
Maybe Howard can have the team pretend the score is 0-0?
February 3rd, 2024 at 5:19 PM ^
Slip the scoreboard operator a 20 so it shows 1st half instead of 2nd
February 3rd, 2024 at 5:13 PM ^
They're just as bad as we are!
February 3rd, 2024 at 5:13 PM ^
A 3 by Dug forces Rutgers into a TO. Up by 12.
February 3rd, 2024 at 5:16 PM ^
Michigan extending the halftime lead.. 44-32 about 2 1/2 minutes into the second half.
Could it be the shoes?
February 3rd, 2024 at 5:17 PM ^
Because they're pretty in pink?
February 3rd, 2024 at 5:30 PM ^
I can be superstitious. Based on the outcome.. it might be a change to the uni they should hold on to…
February 3rd, 2024 at 5:23 PM ^
Clear example of stupid mistakes, Reed turned the ball over I believe because he flubbed the inbounds pass after the last Rutgers basket and they get the ball after the timeout.
February 3rd, 2024 at 5:25 PM ^
As if they knew I took Mich -5.5

Sloppiness now on a 4-minute run...
February 3rd, 2024 at 5:27 PM ^
the ref acted like he glitched and almost didn't call it. Reed appeal for the TO call at center court was crafty.
DOUG!
