Ben Herbert
All year long, we've watched Michigan physically dominate other teams. Yet I've rarely heard our strength and conditioning coach, Ben Herbert, mentioned. This guy deserves a huge amount of credit for the success that the Wolverines have had in the past 3 years. Nobody has been more physical than Michigan. Huge props to Ben Herbert!!

You’ve rarely heard him mentioned?
January 10th, 2024 at 4:25 PM ^
He's new here!!!
January 10th, 2024 at 4:43 PM ^
Wait until he hears about Keith Jackson

CJK4H
January 10th, 2024 at 5:30 PM ^
Was that for effect or did CJK4H twice?
January 10th, 2024 at 8:57 PM ^
ha - no...for some reason it just posted twice. Maybe there was user error somewhere but I don't think I did anything.
January 10th, 2024 at 7:21 PM ^
Keith is doing just fine.
January 11th, 2024 at 6:02 AM ^
Hell my wife knows who he is and is terrified of him. She’s been a fan for almost 30 yrs and I often have to remind her how things were, or weren’t a penalty. But she dam sure know Ben Herbert. The entire college football world knows who this guys is. If they didn’t before, they knew Monday after his team of un fed wolverines were looking for their meal!
January 10th, 2024 at 3:59 PM ^
He's actually been mentioned a lot
January 10th, 2024 at 11:30 PM ^
Harbaugh mentions him every chance he gets
January 10th, 2024 at 4:00 PM ^
mentioned and praised with regularity here, there and everywhere.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:17 PM ^
In all the places we go
January 10th, 2024 at 4:17 PM ^
Yes but apart from that.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:54 PM ^
Reminds me of a Fletch classic ...
You know, it's a shame about Ed.
Oh, it was. Yeah, it was really a shame. To go so suddenly like that.
He was dying for years.
Sure, but... the end was very... very sudden.
He was in intensive care for eight weeks.
Yeah, but I mean the very end, when he died. That was extremely sudden.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:00 PM ^
Players and staff constantly mention him......
January 10th, 2024 at 4:01 PM ^
I agree!
And would someone PLEASE give some credit to our defense???? I think they were the unsung heroes on Monday.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:01 PM ^
They WERE? What?
January 10th, 2024 at 4:03 PM ^
What defense? We gave up 13 points to Washington, of all teams.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:06 PM ^
13 points on 13 possessions. Such a dismal performance.

1.0 PPP is pretty meh D, right?
For basketball I suppose.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:27 PM ^
No need to get defensive about it.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:06 PM ^
I feel like someone really needs to recognize Blake Corum's contributions, that guy has flown under the radar for far too long.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:13 PM ^
And would someone PLEASE give some credit to our defense????
Other than Michael Penix post-game, I think everyone has?
January 10th, 2024 at 5:48 PM ^
I loved the way they came out of nowhere after giving up all those points during the season. I mean, who knew?
January 10th, 2024 at 4:04 PM ^
YES! I was waiting for a Ben H appreciation thread after both of our lines dominated Washington. A key factor in the Michigan development of players.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:06 PM ^
Been saying it all year he’s fantastic! Thanks Ben!
January 10th, 2024 at 4:06 PM ^
Have you been under a rock? The (well-deserved) love for Herbert is all over the place around here
January 10th, 2024 at 4:07 PM ^
Did anyone hear that Keith Jackson died? Oh man, that one really hurts.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:08 PM ^
Is that confirmed??
January 10th, 2024 at 4:58 PM ^
No, I think people are confused because Keith just landed on the moon.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:07 PM ^
Lol he is mentioned every game and shown every game , pay closer attention!!
January 10th, 2024 at 4:07 PM ^
i mean his name has been on repeat for years. definitely props to him, but he has absolutely been mentioned, mentioned, and mentioned some more. articles, the broadcasters, this site, the athletic did an article, he's been everywhere. only strength coach to get over $1M in salary
January 10th, 2024 at 4:08 PM ^
Justin Feagin, but +1 anyway. What the hell, we just won the whole damn thing
January 10th, 2024 at 4:09 PM ^
This is the coach that I most hope we are able to retain. We need to back up the Brinks money truck for him.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:11 PM ^
OH CUMONG PEOPLE!!! Looking at all the negs and wondering who pissed in y’alls’ National Championship bowl?
OP made a BH Appreciation Thread. Don’t care if you missed, he missed it, she missed it, celebrate it again!
BEN HERBERT IS A NATIONAL CHAMPION!
January 10th, 2024 at 4:32 PM ^
"OP made a BH Appreciation Thread."
I think that's an extremely generous interpretation.
January 10th, 2024 at 8:28 PM ^
How about ‘intended to…?’
January 10th, 2024 at 4:12 PM ^
Is great.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:15 PM ^
Harbaugh literally credits Coach Herbert publicly every chance he gets.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:15 PM ^
Yet I've rarely heard our strength and conditioning coach, Ben Herbert, mentioned.
Maybe the front page hasn't said much, but there's been many things on the message board over the season.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:17 PM ^
A little OT but does anyone seem to remember a very hipster-ish, yuppie S&C coach for Oregon with what I'm sure was a kombucha-infused handlebar mustache and Kentucky Cold Snacks-sponsored sunglasses who was featured prominently when they were pretty good not too long ago? Think I saw him on Miami's sideline during their bowl game but yeah...
I don't have anything really to say but I thought that was weird.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:29 PM ^
I don't remember the dude's name but I think you're right. Pretty sure he arrived at Miamuh along with Cristobal. The S&C dude (too lazy to google him right now) promoted a summer program to "Fill the sleeves" whereby he wanted everyone to do 100 bi's (bicep curls) and 100 tri's (triceps curls) a day to get the guns ready for the season. Not sure why that stuck in my head...
January 10th, 2024 at 4:23 PM ^
All the sarcastic responses (which I love btw) aside, am I the only one who never put together that he was a DL for Wisconsin in the late 90s/early 2000s? Looks like he was largely a reserve guy, but interesting nonetheless.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:33 PM ^
I remember reading that in some bio. I think he could still do a great job without that experience, but it has to help a lot.
January 10th, 2024 at 5:01 PM ^
BEN HERBERT!!!
January 10th, 2024 at 4:25 PM ^
Even though he is talked about a lot. We should keep bringing him up. This man had a big hand in the culture shift that happened, and that is based on Harbaugh and others saying it not fans. Ben Herbert is the man.
January 10th, 2024 at 4:27 PM ^
Who is more physical than us?
January 10th, 2024 at 4:28 PM ^
Harbaugh tried to nominate Herbert for the Broyles award
