Donovan Edwards Appreciation Thread
From committing to Michigan in a snowstorm on live TV, to helping lead us to our first win in Columbus since 2000, to his 2 TDs in the biggest game of his life tonight… THANK YOU DONOVAN!
For context, he was asked about his frustrations this year and this interview from CFP Media Day (2 days ago) says everything you need to know about this kid. He’s always been a team first player and we know he’s heard about all his struggles on the field. Yet he always stayed ready for his moment, and he’s so deserving of it. Wishing him all the success in his future, wherever that may be. Champion forever!

I'm so happy for him to get those two massive TDs in the 1st quarter.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:39 AM ^
Yeah he scored the winning points less than 15 minutes in. Crazy!
January 9th, 2024 at 12:43 AM ^
That is not a stat I would've believed before the game.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:46 AM ^
I thought that first touchdown run was doomed because of his vision, but luckily Washington left that gap open.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:31 AM ^
He showed humility, and then he was exalted - on the biggest stage. He owned the first quarter! And Blake owned the fourth quarter!
Donovan is a special guy - so happy for him!
January 9th, 2024 at 12:32 AM ^
THE DON technically scored this game's winning points. In the first quarter.
January 9th, 2024 at 1:16 AM ^
Technically, Turner scored the winning point of this contest. Nonetheless, I was thrilled with The Don's big game. I was hoping he would go off, and it was beautiful.

I did not have two Edwards long TDs to open the scoring on my bingo card. What a great teammate.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:40 AM ^
I called before the game Blake 50 yard touchdown. I wasn't correct but damn. Didn't feel too far off.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:32 AM ^
I loved his vision tonight. I think he had to re-gap on both of his big runs. Hope he comes back next season, but he's already a legend and best of luck wherever he's playing next year (Michigan or NFL).
January 9th, 2024 at 12:41 AM ^
On the first one I was like...great run into a brick wall again...OH WAIT OH SHIT YEAH!
January 9th, 2024 at 12:33 AM ^
Picked one hell of a day to come up big
January 9th, 2024 at 12:54 AM ^
Guy saves his best for the biggest moments, you gotta give him that
January 9th, 2024 at 8:13 AM ^
Yup. He may not have had the great season that so many were expecting, but his timing couldn't have been better.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:33 AM ^
Dude is a big game stud. And now a Michigan legend.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:35 AM ^
I remember two years ago when JJ McCarthy, Donovan Edwards and Andrel Anthony stayed on the field in the Orange Bowl to watch Georgia celebrate. I kept wondering if they were soaking it all in so that they could one day step up on the stage.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:42 AM ^
Too bad Anthony didn't stay. He could have been there.
January 9th, 2024 at 1:06 AM ^
Anthony mentioned that moment on Twitter. These guys really love each other
January 9th, 2024 at 1:20 AM ^
Very cool. I noticed that other folks who transferred were cheering on Team 144. Example: Chuck Filiaga
January 9th, 2024 at 1:22 AM ^
Any word on Cade McNamara? Somehow I doubt he's supportive.
January 9th, 2024 at 1:40 AM ^
Great share. My shits all emotional right now but this is hitting right in the feels.
January 9th, 2024 at 5:23 AM ^
Great follow up.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:36 AM ^
I love when The Don has 2 long TD runs in a game. It usually bodes well for the Maize and Blue!!
January 9th, 2024 at 12:37 AM ^
Big game Don. He was electric tonite! Great game. And which touchdown was better?
January 9th, 2024 at 12:43 AM ^
He knows when you gotta just put it on the table.
First one was better because at first it was so frustrating. Early in the season he would just run into the pile and it felt like a recurrence of that. Then...bounce! SEE YA!
January 9th, 2024 at 12:38 AM ^
So happy for the Don. Huge TD's when we needed them.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:55 AM ^
I think the Don needed them, too!
January 9th, 2024 at 12:39 AM ^
Goodnight sweet prince. You didn't fulfill your potential every game but you showed up biggest when we needed you most. Go make that NFL bag. Or stay to help run it back next year.
Either way, THE DON is a Michigan legend forever.
WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

The Dom. MVP
January 9th, 2024 at 12:41 AM ^
Donovan had an excellent night (giant holes with a simple cut helps quite a bit), but overall it was a disappointing season for Edwards.
I know at the very end of last season Edwards said he is going pro after this season ended. Due to his lackluster 2023 season, hopefully Edwards sticks around for 2024.
Edward's draft stock dropped. Another season at Michigan could get that draft stock back to 2022-levels.

National champion, should have been the offensive MVP.
Showed up when it mattered.
Say what you want.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:44 AM ^
His stock could definitely rise as a feature back now that Blake is moving on. But he's going to be competing for snaps with Mullings.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:42 AM ^
Thank you, Donovan!
January 9th, 2024 at 12:43 AM ^
I sure hope he comes back. The Don is so electric when he finds space. Things didn't click for him this season, but it always seemed like he was right on the verge of a major explosion. Hopefully this was the breakthrough he needed.
Thanks for posting that video. I hadn't seen that interview. It is yet another volume that speaks to how good his attitude is.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:44 AM ^
He ran by those W defenders as if their feet were in wet concrete. Hell of a game, if it’s his last for M.
January 9th, 2024 at 1:32 AM ^
Totally. He had such an amazing speed burst in both of those runs it appeared the huskie defenders weren’t calibrated to it properly and just were caught flat footed. on one of the runs, he was 10 feet in front of a defender in 5 steps. Crazy how fast he broke away.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:44 AM ^
I really think he was the offensive MVP. On a normal team we would have rode him like a horse. He finally made the right cuts tonight and found the holes. His contribution was necessary, obvious, and awesome. Congratulations to the Don!!!
January 9th, 2024 at 12:54 AM ^
I love Corum, but Edwards was absolutely the offensive MVP tonight. The coaches should have ridden the hot hand because when the Don is on, he’s on.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:44 AM ^
THE DON!!!
January 9th, 2024 at 12:44 AM ^
I said it wouldn't be a Donovan Edwards game. And...maybe it wasn't. But it was a Donovan Edwards quarter holy shit.
Love you Donovan.
January 9th, 2024 at 12:46 AM ^
He likes the bright lights, that’s for sure. Really glad he made huge plays on a big stage. So happy for him, and what a team mate
January 9th, 2024 at 12:52 AM ^
I’m so happy for him. He’s one of my favorite players on the team. I hope he comes back for one more year. Mullings and Edwards would be a great Thunder and Lightning combo. If he heads to the NFL, I can see a team trying to turn him into a Deebo Samuel type player who can do it all. He is a Michigan legend and has come through with big plays in the biggest games. Some say he didn’t live up to his lofty star rating but how would his stats look if he wasn’t sharing touches with Corum? He was a monster last year when Corum was hurt and he was carrying the load with one hand. He is a team first guy when he could have transferred to any other school and doubled his touches. Those who stay will be champions!
January 9th, 2024 at 12:56 AM ^
Hell of a night to finally break out. All Hail the DON.
January 9th, 2024 at 1:03 AM ^
everyone is so happy for him
he hasn't had the year anyone expected from him. I had more confidence seeing Mullings tbh. And yet nothing but joy and positivity from him all season. So much respect
January 9th, 2024 at 1:06 AM ^
All he does
IS SCORE TOUCHDOWNS!!
Props to him for making big plays in the NCG.
January 9th, 2024 at 1:09 AM ^
Proud of The Don! A lesser man would have pouted over not getting carries and being the feature back. Edwards stayed patient, put the team first, cheered on his teammates, and it paid off. Thanks for 2022 vs OSU and tonight against Washington.
January 9th, 2024 at 1:15 AM ^
Beautiful post
January 9th, 2024 at 1:22 AM ^
❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
January 9th, 2024 at 1:26 AM ^
After Edwards scored his first touchdown the UW fan by me yelled “#7, that’s not even their guy!”
January 9th, 2024 at 1:26 AM ^
Hit on the third rush, lol.
