Seth Fisher appreciation thread

Seth had a brief dialogue today on the WTKA MGoBlog round table podcast from approximately the 11-13 minute mark that summarized the difference between Ohio State’s current program and Michigan’s current program. He talks about the qualities of love and positivity versus a culture based on hatred and manipulative narratives. Listening to it was actually quite moving, and it revealed to me that Seth sees a much bigger picture here. On a metaphysical level, many of us believe that love conquers hate.  Saturday’s victory was reflective of that, and it was a beautiful and special moment in the history of this rivalry and in the history of sport. No one has articulated that the way that Seth just did, and I I’m so glad that I was able to listen to it. Seth is not only the hardest working man around in sports-writing, he is also a brilliant man with a unique perspective on things that are good and noble.  Thanks Seth for your hard work and for sharing your immense talent with us.

100%.  My football knowledge has increased 5x with his breakdowns.  Has helped me become a better fan and most of all a better man (insert sarcasm on last remark)!

Hey, I am just glad Seth tolerates my nonsense around here, as I don't really contribute much aside from the odd moment where I am judge, jury and executioner with a smattering of diaries and occasional strategic insight.

OH HOW I HATE OH HI YO STATE

I don't think it love vs hate but OSU treats football as a business and Harbaugh is building a team based on a common brotherhood and its tie to a university.

I doubt Ryan Day cares whether his players have a chance to meet the pope.

I don't know if I'd call it hate - but OSU wanting to discredit the last 3 years, rather than move forward and get better, and embellishing the sign scandal into "cheating" despite knowing what advanced sign stealing they'd done, and you knew Ryan Day had a whole bunch prepared to say if they'd won, and you knew he was one of the voices loudly saying Harbaugh shouldn't coach to give his team an advantage - maybe it's not hate but it's certainly not very sporting.

But you're spot on with how Harbaugh views the team he's building - money and talent are important to it, but loving your teammates and the journey is clearly the centerpiece of it.

Well said. We are lucky to have Seth and the rest of this blog team to elevate our U of M fan experience regardless of the on field performance. No one, other than Team 144 themselves, deserves the last three seasons more than The (MGoBlog) Team, The Team, The Team. Thanks for all you do.

Brian is very football smart and a great writer.  I will always love him for founding this site and community.

Seth is a content machine whose joy and love for Michigan keep me coming back.  He's self-aware, humble, and his writing is so fun to engage with.

Seth--thank you for staying.  You are a champion!

Long time, first time here, but am breaking my lurker status because I wanted to let everyone know how awesome Seth is.  I sent Seth an email on this over the weekend thanking him as well.

My son is a Sophomore at Michigan and is taking Dooley's NIL class this semester (with a bunch of athletes who actually show up to class, BTW).  My son and a few of his football player classmates have a group project and they wanted to interview Seth for a few NIL/conference expansion questions for maybe 5-10 minutes as part of the project.  Not only did Seth agree to answer the questions (during Ohio St week, no less), he recorded a video of himself answering the questions and gave them over 30 minutes of answers with time stamps of each question.  Plus he put on a sport coat for this!

He went way above and beyond anything that would be considered generous, all because he loves this school and its athletes and students.  A true Victor (and Jolly Good Fellow)!

I will definitely listen, thanks!  I have to say, that I was really impressed with JJ's take going into the game.  His love, his passion, his positivity was infectious.  He spoke of McCord as 'being his guy' and was really looking forward to enjoying the competition.  That attitude seemed to allow him to play loose and bled over to the team.  I guess that's the whole dynamic now, according to your post.  I think that's incredible.

Yeah, there was a lot of truth in what Seth says. He also said something similar in the Defensive UFR this week.

FURTHERMORE, I've seen this from Seth in the last few years. His joy of Michigan football has been healthy and positive. It's been a GREAT addition to the site. For me, Seth has become as much MGoBlog as Brian.

Seth's emotional speech was excellent.  It was too bad that Craig Ross, lacking aptitude for timing and dramatic moments, oafishly torpedoed the ending vibe with his "that's Marxist" comment.

Regardless, Seth's speech was very nice.

Well, done, Seth.

Seth was at our tailgate after the game on Saturday. I simply said "Go Blue Seth" and his smile after that was as bright and true as the sun. Hard working dude and True Blue Michigan. Love that guy!
