Michigan currently has 24 straight Big Ten wins
When we beat Iowa, we will have 25 straight wins. If i recall, the record is 30 straight Big Ten wins by OSU. Next years schedule is brutal - it will be extremely hard to get the record. We really would need to get McCarthy back to do it IMO.
Next years schedule....
26th game USC
27th game Minnesota
28th game at Washington
29th game at Illinois
30th game Michigan State
31st game Oregon

It’s possible. USC went 7-4 with a heisman qb this year. USC, Washington, and Oregon will be either breaking in new qbs and or hitting the portal.
The bigger factor is who comes back for us.
Does the b1g count conference championships or is it just regular season games?
November 27th, 2023 at 10:20 AM ^
How could the conference championship NOT count?
JJ coming back would be huge, but how the OL shapes up will probably be more determinative of outcome.
And don't forget the portal.
November 27th, 2023 at 1:17 PM ^
Portal is going to be really important this year. We lose a ton especially on offense. Both starting WRs, entire starting OL, at least 1 RB if not both. Who knows on QB.
Defense we do lose some dudes but it's not as top heavy as offense and we have a lot of depth so not worried. I am hoping no one touches Minter, I have been surprised his name has not come up in coaching searches - hopefully he stays invisible for a good half decade.

If that bs msu loss had gone the right way this record would have been shattered!
November 27th, 2023 at 8:55 AM ^
It's also now been 1458 cryin' Ryan Days since the last time ohio state beat Michigan.

Who are the "next guys up" for OSU? I remember when they lost McLaurin, Campbell, etc. at WR they had Olave and Wilson (and Jameson Williams fwiw) in waiting, and then JSN overlapped with them. Once the former 2 sat out the bowl game, you saw just how lethal Harrison Jr. was going to be (and Egbuka too). With Harrison and Egbuka gone, along with I would have to assume Stover and X. Johnson have to be out of eligibility or NFL bound in Stover's case, I just haven't heard about that "Next Guy." I know they will have one, but I can't see it being as seamless as it has been over the past few times.
I know we are poised to lose either "very much-A LOT of talent or just simply A LOT of talent, but I wonder if there actually will be a huge drop off in comparison. They will be losing both of their stud WRs, Henderson, probably Stove, JTT and Sawyer, Denzel Burke just to name a few.
November 27th, 2023 at 9:09 AM ^
As I drove home yesterday, I listened to a few Buckeye commenters / analysts share their view of the game. And, the point you’re raising touches on this - next year’s Buckeye roster would appear to be less talented overall than this year’s - and, the receiving corps in particular.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the portal.

Wow, you speak Neanderthal? That's pretty impressive. How can you tell one grunt from another???
(Yes, I know paleo-anthropologists now largely believe that Neanderthals were just as smart as early Homo Sapiens. It was a joke, nerds).

I read an 11 warriors bit on who is coming back and it sounds like they are losing half of their starters or more. They've had really good recruiting classes and are bringing in the #2 class in 2024 yet again including a couple of 5* receivers. Freshman are rarely huge impacts though you never know.
The 2021 class for OSU was crazy good. (#1, 2, 6, 7,9, 11, 37, 47, 55, 57, 72, 101, 124, 147, 160 (MHJ), 208, etc.) They lost Quinn Ewers, but most of the class stuck. It is hard to say they didn't get a lot out of their talent, but when you have the #2 and 6 players on your D line and you get 1 sack in The Game their junior year, you have failed. Between JTT, Sawyer and Zach Harrison, Larry Johnson seems to have lost a step. The Bosas and Chase Young were amazing, but I don't know how much LJ developed them as they were awesome starting day 1.
Out highest ranked players in 21 were the Don at 33 and JJ at 38. El-Hadi was 88.

From the other OP, looks like the players are getting coached up on their pre-game dance moves.
November 27th, 2023 at 9:18 AM ^
The next WR they seem to be excited about is Carnell Tate. I'm sure he'll be outstanding but it's difficult for me to imagine them having another guy as good as MH2 for a while.
November 27th, 2023 at 11:38 AM ^
Jeremiah Smith might be better....
November 27th, 2023 at 1:23 PM ^
Yeah just the #1 overall player in the entire class.
Their classes are disgustingly good.
November 27th, 2023 at 9:20 AM ^
I think they return almost everyone in the trenches on both sides of the ball. One OL graduates, and a few of their defensive lineman might have solid draft grades (T. Williams, JTT), so that will be interesting. Both starting LBs and Proctor will be gone, and it sounds like Burke might go pro, but almost everyone else returns.
Offensively, Henderson will be the interesting one with a decision to make. Egbuka, Harrison, and Fleming will all be gone, but they've recruited so well at receiver that I'm sure they'll have viable options (Tate, specifically).
But whatever. Beat Iowa!
November 27th, 2023 at 9:31 AM ^
I saw an interesting stat from a Buckeye earlier today...Justin Fields ran for 15 TD's during his time at OSU, which was basically 1.75 seasons (22 games, 2019 and 2020). Since then, OSU starting QB's have ran for exactly 0 TD's. 0 from Stroud in two years as a starter. 0 from McCord this year.
I hope Day doesn't read this, but his offense has become largely one dimensional. Trayanum ran hard but they only gave him 6 carries. If you are not using the threat of the QB running the ball in this day and age you are leaving points on the field. There's no way Michigan could have bracketed Harrison the way did on Saturday if McCord could run - and even with doing that Harrison still had a big game. I struggle for a reason as to why Day has removed that element from his offense but I won't complain about it!
November 27th, 2023 at 10:21 AM ^
I think what matters most is QB play. Their QB play has always exceeded ours.. even when we've had talent. We have always been injured as well heading into The Game. Mccord blows. Those throws were stare downs... you put a non Marvin Harrison WR out there and you get Egbuka who had the dropsies and got lit up and dropped it. Take another step down??
If it wasn't for that absurd Fleming catch at the end of the first half, I think we come down and score again and the game really pushes out of control. That's what it took for Mccord to be effective. Guy has great weapons at every tier and I was not impressed - especially with Johnson partially then fully hurt/out.
I don't know that JJ needs to be the guy - but I do wonder who the LEADERS on the team will be next year? Who will be the vocal leaders to take over for Corum, Sainristil, JJ, etc...
Culture is VERY hard to maintain. Will the new leaders have the same desperation to win/rule the way we have the past 3 years?
November 27th, 2023 at 10:25 AM ^
Totally agree. Keep hearing about everyone we're going to lose but nobody is talking about who OSU is going to lose save MHJ.
They've probably going to lose more 5 stars than we have on our whole team.
November 27th, 2023 at 1:18 PM ^
They are fucking loaded. Guys like Carnell Tate were not even playing or if so in the reserves. When one batch of mercenaries leave they have another batch behind.
Last year's class they have 7 of the top 100 players in the country. And 12 of the top 150.
This year's again 7 of the top 100, and 10 of the top 150.
November 27th, 2023 at 9:05 AM ^
The “count up” continues.
And, just think of this.. Ohio State’s had a notably “more talented roster” than Michigan for the last few years.
Development, effort, and execution.
November 27th, 2023 at 9:28 AM ^
Damn, we knew those gold pants would have a little dust on them but they've been locked up in their storage unit a long time.

Correction: they're locked up in the tattoo parlor and car dealership's storage unit ;)
November 27th, 2023 at 9:57 AM ^
Definitely would've been funnier pre-NIL, but I'll upvote it anyway :P
November 27th, 2023 at 9:01 AM ^
Wow, that is a run!! Go Blue. Ranting on officials in the 2021 overturning Hutch's strip sack fumble..... be playing for 30 straight this saturday....
November 27th, 2023 at 9:04 AM ^
I would love to see the teams OSU beat during that stretch, but I'm too lazy. Our run includes beating three top five OSU teams. That's a feat I doubt they can claim.
November 27th, 2023 at 9:49 AM ^
I don't know, Ryan Day is pretty good at beating himself.

November 27th, 2023 at 9:10 AM ^
I may still be on my fan buzz from beating OSU, but does USC REALLY scare you? Their idea of defense is to help get the ball back to the offense by letting the other team score...
Minnesota? Nope...
Illinois? Nope...
Sparty? Awww hell no...
The game at Washington will be the challenge, road trips to the west hardly goes well... And Oregon will be tough...
November 27th, 2023 at 9:31 AM ^
One good thing is Pennix and Nix will be gone. USC defense has been laughable all season, and they'll be weak next year too. Its the Lincoln Riley effect.
November 27th, 2023 at 9:44 AM ^
And - USC will be breaking in a new QB as well.
November 27th, 2023 at 10:07 AM ^
Looks like they have a 4 star RS Soph (Miller Moss) and 5 star RS FR (Malachi Nelson) on the roster. Moss will be entering his 4th season and has thrown for 43 of 59 with 542 yards and 3 TD for his career (11 games played).
Nelson has played in 1 game and is 1 of 3 for 0 yards.
Moss could be the guy, Nelson could be the young up-and-comer (he was #12 overall per 247 composite). Or they could hit the portal.
Doesn't seem like they have too much confidence in Moss and may hit the portal, but looks like they have some good pieces in place.
It's really their atrocious defense that needs fixin'
November 27th, 2023 at 10:11 AM ^
After our first four games next year: "Michigan hasn't played anybody".
November 27th, 2023 at 9:10 AM ^
A U of M fandom account on IG posted that it's been 30 straight, but I'm not sure where they got that
November 27th, 2023 at 9:19 AM ^
It’s 30 straight regular season games if the B1G championship game is included. Sparty is the last regular season loss.
November 27th, 2023 at 9:45 AM ^
Yeah, 30 straight regardless of who we played (what league they were in). But 24 going on 25 straight Big Ten wins, is, well, something else.
November 27th, 2023 at 9:20 AM ^
Not just brutal but a whole new team with the possibility of a new QB. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that JJ decides to come back.
November 27th, 2023 at 9:25 AM ^
I still can't believe they have to play Washington, USC, and Oregon in the same damn season. Nevermind Texas and osu.
Thats just stupid. Either way you look at it they're going to be banged up come the osu game but at least theres a 12 team playoff. They'll have room for error and these losses won't be magnified like they are now.
November 27th, 2023 at 9:47 AM ^
Yeah, the beauty of it is we could have 4 losses and our SOS gets us in! lol
November 27th, 2023 at 9:55 AM ^
The new teams know who they wanted on their schedule when they joined the BIG. They weren't fighting to play Purdue, MSU, or Indiana. Again, I don't understand the hate for Michigan. OSU dominates the league easily as much as Michigan, yet the majority of the teams / fans seem to dislike Michigan more.
November 27th, 2023 at 10:23 AM ^
This surprises me too.
Has it always been like this, or is it a recent attitude in response to our success. Especially dominating the line of scrimmage?
November 27th, 2023 at 10:20 AM ^
The former PAC teams aren't too scary though. All 3 currently have first-round QBs who will be gone next year, and USC is 7-5 with a literal Heisman winner at QB. I think all 3 of those teams will take a step back next year. Washington and Oregon could still be good but short of (4-team) playoff caliber. USC has a chance to be ass.
November 27th, 2023 at 9:36 AM ^
28 if you don't count B1G Championship games, 30 if you do. Have not lost since Sparty in 2021
November 27th, 2023 at 10:02 AM ^
I am just enjoying this immensely. I hope it continues on for a long time, but it will end eventually. It's been a magnificent ride. Thanks to all of the coaches and players who made it happen.
November 27th, 2023 at 10:27 AM ^
That 30th game gives me the chills.
November 27th, 2023 at 1:15 PM ^
All 3 of those Pac 12 teams lose their QB. Would be nice if we didn't :)
