OT: Coach Prime discusses night games
We are still waiting on the Michigan UFR for the offense, so in the mean time I will post the Coach Prime content for the week. I am willing to take the negs.
Deion Sanders is not a fan of late night college football games.
"Who makes these 8 o'clock games? Dumbest thing ever. Stupidest thing ever invented in life. Who wants to stay up until 8 o'clock for a darn game?" Sanders said Wednesday on "Buffs PrimeTime." "What about the East Coast -- do they even care about ratings? Is anyone watching it? What are we supposed to do with the kids all day until 8 o'clock? What are we supposed to do in the hotel?"
I agree with him. Playing so late most certainly does not benefit the student-athlete and Michigan typically plays poor in these games. I know the NCAA will never get rid of them because of money but I wish they would.
Enjoy!

Please allow the irony of "Prime Time" complaining on "Buffs PrimeTime" about games in "Prime Time" to sink in.

This is really the only comment necessary for this thread.

It truly is a great reply!

You can close the thread now. Nothing else needs to be said on the subject.

You win the internet today.

Why is everyone so into what this guys says. A 55 year old man calling himself Prime is ridiculous enough let enough post everything about what he does and says
October 12th, 2023 at 7:24 PM ^
OMG! We have RobF's alter ego! How DARE anyone bring up Colorado or Coach Prime?!?!?!?!
Won't somebody please think of RobF before posting??!?!?!

Chris Berman would like a word... Prime Time...Prime Time...Prime Time.
It matters especially when he's speaking the truth.
October 12th, 2023 at 9:42 PM ^
I try to only refer to him as, "coach Sanders". It's pretty interesting how many people have no idea who I'm talking about. His branding is on a McDonald's level.
October 12th, 2023 at 4:40 PM ^
I think the atmosphere is great for big games, but I would personally be supportive of a 1-per year limit for each team (1 total...not 1 home and one away).
October 12th, 2023 at 7:48 PM ^
Should probably also be only for teams in the same time zone or west of there.
(Not Eastern time zone teams playing night games on the west coast and getting back home mid-Sunday morning).
October 12th, 2023 at 4:42 PM ^
I'm on the same page as Prime.
"What to do with the kids" occupies about 75% of my parenting brain.

“Bowling? No, nobody likes f-ing bowling.
Frisbee? Do I even have one?
Drawing? What does that even mean?!?!
Whatever, just play Fortnite.”
October 12th, 2023 at 5:44 PM ^
Why not just throw the football? :)
October 12th, 2023 at 5:57 PM ^
You CAN throw the football but that isn’t really “something.” It doesn’t last long enough to be something. It is valuable as something to do after you “do something.”
October 12th, 2023 at 6:00 PM ^
I will not stand for this bowling slander.
Let's go bowling, Dude

My kid is such an entitled brat he wont even fortnite with me now. He is like "alright boomer".
Little bastard.

Reminds me of the time when my friend’s mom called him a little SOB.

I don’t mind watching late games but I’m not a fan of going to one. Unless of course it’s the national championship this year. Last night game I went to I didn’t feel good till Wednesday. I can’t believe I’m saying it, but I’m getting to old.
October 12th, 2023 at 5:05 PM ^
Holy shit, dude. I'm 55 and it doesn't take me four or five days to feel fine after an 8PM game on a Saturday night. I'd say I'm typically fine by 10AM on Sunday.
October 12th, 2023 at 6:21 PM ^
Postgame hookers and blow can certainly stretch that recovery till Wednesday.
I got you buddy.
October 13th, 2023 at 7:54 AM ^
So you're not watching PAC12 After Dark? Because those games are usually the funnest games of the weekend...
October 13th, 2023 at 8:28 AM ^
I think you need to see a doctor about that. A 4-day recovery for staying up late is definitely not normal.
October 12th, 2023 at 4:47 PM ^
He's right. I'll be pretty pissed if we're playing USC and the game doesn't start until 10pm Eastern.
Only absolute football degenerates are staying up to 2am to watch a game.
October 12th, 2023 at 4:51 PM ^
Pretty sure you won’t have to worry about that unless both teams tank in the future. The networks paid for these types of games to be played at 7:30/8 pm ET.
October 12th, 2023 at 4:53 PM ^
I'll admit to being that kind of degenerate. Howeveh, I only enjoy staying up late to watch random games while at least half buzzed. I would hate to have to watch a Michigan game at that hour and in that state.
October 12th, 2023 at 4:55 PM ^

I confess as well. I don't even remember which game it was a couple three weeks ago when it finally ended, and I looked at the clock and it was around that time in the morning when, as they say, if you're at an ATM, it is not for a good reason. I'm firmly in the toe meets leather at noon department.
October 12th, 2023 at 5:18 PM ^
i guess I am a degenerate then
my wife was right all along
October 12th, 2023 at 5:40 PM ^
Agreed. I get real weird with it for PAC12 after dark.
October 12th, 2023 at 6:26 PM ^
Give me a Pac 12 after dark double header with the MWC (hopefully Wyoming at home with some money on them covering) and you got your self an epic Saturday late night.
October 12th, 2023 at 6:03 PM ^
It's the last call to chase your betting losses for the day. Not only do I stay up for those random games, I particularly enjoy parlaying that with some obscure cricket matches.
I'm a degenerate.
October 13th, 2023 at 7:56 AM ^
Present and accounted for.
Come to think of it, Hatter, I've seen you on the late game threads more often than not...
October 12th, 2023 at 4:50 PM ^
Isn't his nickname Prime Time?
I mean....he can say whatever he wants and he's entitled to his opinion, but I just hope the irony is not lost on him.
October 12th, 2023 at 4:58 PM ^
Missed it by only 11 minutes.
October 12th, 2023 at 5:45 PM ^
That's what his big brother said :)
October 12th, 2023 at 4:50 PM ^
“Is anyone watching it?”
CU-CSU was the most watched game of that week with over 9 million people watching, it ended after 2am Eastern.
October 12th, 2023 at 4:51 PM ^
I like night games but there are far too many of them played now and it can be frustrating.
The biggest moment of idiocy ever in night game lore was the 2017 Michigan/Michigan State game. Everybody waited around all day in beautiful weather to get to 8 PM when the storms were guaranteed to roll in. (No I’m not complaining about it because Michigan lost, it was just super stupid).
October 12th, 2023 at 4:56 PM ^
I think he's 100% right, of course. But I agree with GRBluefan, that this is one TV-driven money-grab that I must confess I enjoy as a fan. It's nice to kick off the football weekend with a decent game to watch on Friday night.
October 12th, 2023 at 5:33 PM ^
Or Tuesday🤷🏽♂️
October 12th, 2023 at 4:58 PM ^
As someone in the central time zone, I love night games. 6:30 and 7:00 pm starts are awesome. Looks like I'm in the minority but I would prefer Michigan have 3-4 night games in their regular season schedule. To each their own.
October 12th, 2023 at 5:22 PM ^
“i have chosen to be a college football coach and use my unique ability to draw attention to myself and my team, and then I am going to complain about how the teams with the most hype/attention play a lot of night games”
October 12th, 2023 at 5:31 PM ^
I wonder what players prefer ... noon, 3:30pm, or night games?
October 12th, 2023 at 6:43 PM ^
Yeah, but take into account a noon eastern time game for two teams on the west coast would be 9am local time. Where as a 8pm kickoff on the west coast would be 5pm. So I can’t imagine college kids want to wake up at 7am to tailgate.
October 12th, 2023 at 7:24 PM ^
I meant in the local time where the game is being played, not ET.
October 12th, 2023 at 5:32 PM ^
I don't care what time any game is on because I'm not watching it live. Football is unwatchable live.
October 12th, 2023 at 6:12 PM ^
How dare you insult my life!
