A real, pro job. Very nice.
JJ has got to have earned his shield now.
October 7th, 2023 at 10:58 PM ^
Agree, Mason Graham lurking too...kid is special.
Also, how does Will Johnson not have a star? I think he's a shield talent for sure.
Anyway offense was great.
October 7th, 2023 at 11:00 PM ^
They took away Will Johnson's star after he got toasted last game.
October 7th, 2023 at 10:46 PM ^
This team feels a lot different and improved, but in ways that I'm still trying to figure out.
October 7th, 2023 at 11:24 PM ^
There's definitely something intangible to this team. Maybe it's the focus and complete and utter belief they have in each other, and the belief that they have some unfinished business from last year. This team is scary.
October 7th, 2023 at 11:30 PM ^
Experience, depth and talent at all position groups. That is the difference from most other years. The experience breeds confidence because the guys know where they're supposed to be and what they're supposed to do.
The OL is the most experienced and deepest group on offense. And it is also the most important aside from QB, who is also experienced and talented.

Easiest schedule in entire big.
One game vs a ranked opponent.
Watched at leat 5 teams that will neutralize this offense
October 7th, 2023 at 11:52 PM ^
Five teams eh? Please share which five teams would neutralize this offense.
October 8th, 2023 at 7:16 AM ^
I’ve watched six offenses this defense will neutralize.
- Indiana
- MSU
- Purdue
- PSU
- Maryland
- OSU

Not even close to true

October 7th, 2023 at 11:56 PM ^
They have the weakest sos in the entire BIG.
Have watched 6 teams that would neutralize this offense.
Keep playing cupcakes, until playoff reality.
October 8th, 2023 at 12:14 AM ^
I've watched seven teams that would neutralize this offense.
October 8th, 2023 at 7:19 AM ^
You just changed 6 to 7 below. So, you think OSU and PSU are cupcakes? I mean without beating them they are not getting into playoffs. And you think this offense will be shutdown by 7 teams? You are underestimating the power of a good QB and a healthy Corum. Lay off the Labatt
October 8th, 2023 at 9:36 AM ^
Don’t feed the trolls
October 8th, 2023 at 10:14 AM ^
Keep drinking labatt, until cirrhosis reality
October 8th, 2023 at 10:21 AM ^
I actually laughed out loud at this.
October 8th, 2023 at 10:57 AM ^
You've increased the number of teams that will neutralize our offense since your last post.
if that number keeps growing we're clearly - DOOMED!
October 8th, 2023 at 12:00 AM ^
I think it's mostly JJ. He makes the right play basically every time. It's not that flashy most of the time (it definitely is sometimes), just correct.
October 7th, 2023 at 10:46 PM ^
JJ McVictory is an unstoppable force. 14/20, 219 with 11 yards/ attempt. Most of his incompletions were flat out drops. His decision making appeared impeccable, and his running is nothing short of elite. This offense is such a joy to watch!
October 7th, 2023 at 11:24 PM ^
The drops were really the only bad thing on offense today.
October 7th, 2023 at 11:28 PM ^
His running is Denard level?
October 7th, 2023 at 11:34 PM ^
No - but Denard’s running is above elite, it’s legendary
October 8th, 2023 at 12:23 AM ^
Yep he had 3 easy drops I can remember, which were in the end zone to Loveland, Johnson in the first quarter and Edwards dropped an easy third down pass. I remember a tough sideline incompletion towards Wilson but don’t remember the other two. He could’ve easily been 17/20 with over 250 yards and another td. Still hasn’t played a fourth quarter this year.
October 8th, 2023 at 1:57 AM ^
I don't think the Loveland drop in the endzone was "easy" he got smacked by the safety and had the ball dislodged
October 8th, 2023 at 5:37 AM ^
This was a combination of a hot throw which Loveland let get a little too close before securing (in slo-mo you can see it's up on his right shoulder a bit and might pop out anyway) and a good play by the safety. If Loveland can pick up the ball a little earlier he can probably reel it in and hang on.
October 8th, 2023 at 7:56 AM ^
Agree. The Loveland one wasn't "bad" but it wasn't entirely not his fault either. The CJ and Donovan drops were awful, and I believe both in 3rd down conversions.
October 8th, 2023 at 10:41 AM ^
Looked like he was losing the ball before the safety got there anyway.
October 8th, 2023 at 12:20 PM ^
JJ's throw to Loveland was a bit off, Loveland adjusted well but couldn't secure it during the hit.
October 8th, 2023 at 1:40 PM ^
Loveland had made tougher catches and he had the talent to make that catch, he just didn't pull it in.

What has transpired today in College football? There will be no more talk about Texas jumping Michigan to #2. Norte Dame will fade into obscurity in college football conversation. Ohio State will pretend their win over Maryland was a blowout, they really are tough and their run game was so bad because Henderson was out. And Michigan becomes bowl eligible while shutting the mouths of its doubters. There are SO many weapons. Even their defense is offensive. Go Blue!
October 7th, 2023 at 10:58 PM ^
Michigan took control of its own destiny today.
October 8th, 2023 at 3:06 AM ^
Not saying I think it should happen. At all. Not in the least. But I bet Oklahoma gets a few 1st place votes that once belonged to Texas.
Also stoked that Texas lost.
October 8th, 2023 at 10:09 AM ^
I believe after looking at Texas schedule, they probably still make the playoffs
October 8th, 2023 at 11:34 PM ^
I’m with you except the bowl eligibility part. It’s nice when you’re crappy but doesn’t mean anything right now :)
October 7th, 2023 at 11:08 PM ^
Exactly this. And it happens in a way that doesn't feel like it's happening. Yet, suddenly it's 5 minutes to go in the third quarter, and one is thinking should they just start taking knees from now!
October 8th, 2023 at 8:43 AM ^
Sam Webb and Alejandro had this discussion on their post game video. It is getting to the point where it's almost expected they're going to score on every drive, stop the other team on every defensive stand, and make every kick and return to perfection.
I remember at one point looking at the score and thinking they could get to 50, and then thinking, "They really are dominating!" I'm surprised no one has started to complain the games are boring.
October 7th, 2023 at 10:49 PM ^
Offensive line looks much better since Henderson took over LT, Barnhart to RT and Hinton to bench. I did see Hinton in during garbage time though so no redshirt for him?
October 7th, 2023 at 11:17 PM ^
It would have been weird to have the backup tackle redshirt.
October 8th, 2023 at 1:59 AM ^
The idea floated before the season was to have Hinton redshirt and get rid of bad habits and then take over next year.
October 8th, 2023 at 10:00 AM ^
Floated by who? The coaching staff or people and posters on mgoblog?
October 8th, 2023 at 6:08 AM ^
The thinking being that Trente Jones is a starter-level backup so you could redshirt Hinton to get an extra year
October 8th, 2023 at 10:45 AM ^
Not really. Get an extra year of eligibility out of the raw product with high upside. Trente Jones is a starter caliber tackle and could fill in for either a Henderson or Barnhart injury.
Most college teams don’t have two backup tackles. If there’s an injury, there’s one or two capable linemen and they jumble the positions. Michigan’s level of depth is pretty unheard of.
October 7th, 2023 at 11:25 PM ^
But they swapped sides tonight: Barnhart at LT, Henderson at RT. At least sometimes. Anyone else catch that? Was it all game? What’s up with that? Can’t wait for the UFR to see how it graded out that way. I think the pass pro was clearly better, more consistent. Not sure run blocking didn’t slightly weaken
October 8th, 2023 at 3:08 AM ^
I did. The announcers even mentioned it at one point.
October 8th, 2023 at 5:31 AM ^
Didn't see. Were they [possibly flip-flopping (one to the closed side, one to the open)?
October 7th, 2023 at 10:50 PM ^
JJ was the star again with 2TD running the ball. Overall a solid performance. Good ball control. Nothing is perfect on the road. Jack Tuttle is a good backup QB. Kalel Mullings had another good showing.
I'll take it!!
October 7th, 2023 at 10:55 PM ^
I look at every game through the lenses of facing OSU and PSU, and we look more than capable of beating both.
October 7th, 2023 at 10:57 PM ^
Everybody ate. JJ another terrific 3 quarters of football. Balance is beautiful. Have a feeling Donovan will be huge in the second half of season and down the stretch. Just heard we traveled with 74 players and 73 played.
October 8th, 2023 at 2:49 AM ^
Would hate to be the one guy glued to the bench.
