Overall Viewership For ECU/UofM Game
I was wondering if anyone knew what the overall viewership was for the Michigan game on Saturday? This was the first game I haven't seen since the App State/Big Ten Network debacle years ago. I personally have no interest in the Peacock App and was not about to purchase it to watch a single game.
My assumption would be a pretty low viewership compared to a normal viewing, but I am not certain. Anyone know?

Not sure, but this is a very bold post you've made here.

If he had just italicized the whole thing as well...**CHEF'S KISS**

Why stop at italicizing?

IDK which part of the post I should focus on!

ALL OF IT ?
September 5th, 2023 at 2:30 PM ^
I saw a headline this morning (that I can no longer find) that says it was the most streamed game in the history of NBC Sports. So, yeah, it did OK without you... ;-)
September 5th, 2023 at 2:31 PM ^
Saw that headline too. Here's the (extremely poorly written) article, which neglects to actually say how many people streamed it and instead spends several paragraphs discussing Penn State and Notre Dame.
September 5th, 2023 at 2:36 PM ^
Wow! That was surprising to me. Thanks for the link.
September 5th, 2023 at 2:48 PM ^
Probably because before 2023, NBC didn’t have the rights to any good college football content. And this was only the first week. The Michigan game was 100% streaming viewership. Before this year NBC had Notre Dame games, but those are usually broadcast on NBC so streaming numbers are secondary.
September 5th, 2023 at 2:53 PM ^
I believe Notre Dame had a Peacock-exclusive game last year. Might have been the Marshall game last year, which, well, they're probably glad was only on stream.
September 5th, 2023 at 3:01 PM ^
It couldn't have been Marshall. I watched that game, and was not a 'Cock streamer at the time.
September 5th, 2023 at 3:03 PM ^
I was just about to say the same thing. I rarely watch Notre Dame unless they play Michigan or if they're in a high-profile game of some sort, but I did happen across the Marshall game and hovered to watch the upset.
That being said, I do also think they had a Peacock-only game last year.
September 5th, 2023 at 7:16 PM ^
They tried the ‘cock and didn’t like it? Or no?
September 5th, 2023 at 8:41 PM ^
Fuck Notre Dame.
September 5th, 2023 at 4:03 PM ^
ND - UNLV was Peacock only last year.
September 5th, 2023 at 3:37 PM ^
That's why they call it Awful Announcing? I saw his article and read it twice...no numbers for the headline game that the article has in the title.
Go Blue!
September 5th, 2023 at 3:38 PM ^
Drats..doubly Awful Announcing.
September 5th, 2023 at 9:48 PM ^
There's two rules for the streaming industry:
1. Never quote actual numbers
or if you do
2. Quote numbers so absurd you have to be a victim of lobotomy to believe they're true.
Yes Netflix, Spencer Confidential has been watched by more people than the population of Asia. That's definitely true
September 5th, 2023 at 2:45 PM ^
I’m sure it did OK, but an imprecise claim being made without supporting evidence isn’t all that convincing
September 5th, 2023 at 2:38 PM ^
Streamers generally do not release viewership data. This happens to be one of the sticking points of the strike going on in Hollywood incidentally.
September 5th, 2023 at 2:47 PM ^
My hunch would be it’s because they’re following the Silicon Valley playbook of “fabricate and/or manipulate numbers into an unrecognizable, unaccountable, but highly alluring mass”
September 5th, 2023 at 2:47 PM ^
since we know that Michigan - ECU was Peacock's highest CFB game ever and that last week's ND-Navy game hit 251k viewers as the highest non-Peacock exclusive game, it's probably fair to assume that it's somewhere in the 300k-400k range
For reference, last year's Hawaii - Michigan on BTN was about 1M viewers (although the timeslot was split with Idaho-Indiana), so probably about a 50% drop overall.

Maybe you could hilight this post also.
September 5th, 2023 at 3:21 PM ^
One Million Viewers
September 5th, 2023 at 3:53 PM ^
Boldly stated.
September 5th, 2023 at 3:56 PM ^
I paid $5.99 to watch the game because I value paying that much for 3 1/2 hours of entertainment to watch my favorite team's season opener. I suppose not all people would be willing to pay that much (although I do believe 110,000 people pay far more than that).
September 5th, 2023 at 5:03 PM ^
I'll watch the TNF Lions-Chiefs game, as well, to see if the Lions hype is worth anything. Then likely cancel.
September 5th, 2023 at 5:45 PM ^
FYI for anyone else wondering: the Lions game is on broadcast TV. NBC's not stupid enough to put an NFL game behind the stream-wall.
September 6th, 2023 at 1:40 AM ^
Peacock is actually going to get a nfl playoff game that will be streaming only this winter. They also will have the bills chargers dec 23rd will be streaming only as well numerous big 10 bb games
September 5th, 2023 at 5:20 PM ^
I'm paying $2.50 per month for 3 months.
I got to see Michigan play ECU, get to watch The Lions beat the Chiefs, Sparty get slain by Washington, Notre Dame beat Ohio State, Sparty get stomped by Penn State, Clemson or Notre Dame lose when they play each other, plus other things I can't even imagine at this point.
All for the price of my first beer if I go down the street to a local pub to watch the game.
Forgot to mention a weekly NFL Sunday night game.
September 5th, 2023 at 4:02 PM ^
I'd be more impressed by the tallest midget than the most streamed football game.
September 5th, 2023 at 5:23 PM ^
Cock streams, hmmm.
Lots of variables. Could be all over the place.
September 5th, 2023 at 6:32 PM ^
We had no plans on downloading peacock in Chicago and refrained from a bad neighborhood bar experience - so we set up a tailgate on the lake front and streamed the Michigan Radio feed while smoking a pork shoulder in perfect weather. Almost felt like the golf course ;) Go Blue. I'll continue to refuse any downloading of anything the Notre Dame Broadcasting Company offers unless they finally join the B2G.
September 5th, 2023 at 7:45 PM ^
I'm having a party.
Can you guy's bring EVERYTHING?
September 5th, 2023 at 9:19 PM ^
I’m watching on B1G Football in 60 right now, so does my viewership count?

AMEX Platinum cardholders can recoup the cost of the Peacock streaming subscription with the card's $240/yr streaming credit.
Also, your kid can get a Student Peacock sub for less than $2/mo and you can login with those credentials. For students,Peacock is so cheap there's no point even cancelling it.
Or you could invite your friend over and watch the game using your friend's login credentials at your house which costs you nothing.
If you don't want to mooch you can raise money by turning in 20 aluminum cans at the recycling center.
