Tonight's College Football Games (8/31/2023)
First off, Happy Phil Brabbs kick against Washington Anniversary! (8/31/2002)
And back to present day, tonight starts 5 straight days of college football games, which is now a Labor Day weekend tradition. The two most notable games this evening are...
- Nebraska @ Minnesota 8:00 on Fox. Matt Rhule's debut against the guy who likes to row a boat.
- Florida @ Utah 8:00 on ESPN. They played a classic game last year that went down to the final seconds. Maybe another good game tonight?
The rest of the lineup sounds pretty meh but it's still football.....
- Elon @ Wake Forest 7:00 on ACC Network
- Kent State @ Central Florida 7:00 on FS1
- Rhode Island @ Georgia State 7:00 on ESPN+
- St. Francis @ Western Michigan 7:00 on ESPN+
- North Carolina State @ Connecticut 7:30 on CBSSN
- South Dakota @ Missouri 8:00 on SEC Network
- Arkansas Pine Bluff @ Tulsa 8:00 on ESPN+
- North Carolina A&T @ UAB 8:00 on EPSN+
- Southern Utah @ Arizona State 10:00 on ???

5 Straight Days of Football?
Yeah, I'm gonna be divorced by Tuesday.
August 31st, 2023 at 4:22 PM ^
I believe Utah's starting QB (the same guy from last year), will be out injured. So probabaly not as intriguing as otherwise would have been. The Minnesota game will be interesting to scout an upcoming opponent.
August 31st, 2023 at 4:25 PM ^
cam rising tore his acl in the rose bowl last year and just isn’t quite ready
takes the luster off the game a bit
August 31st, 2023 at 4:35 PM ^
It levels the playing field vs unranked Florida, so more intriguing?
August 31st, 2023 at 4:40 PM ^
Ya but to be fair, Florida lost last year's starting QB too (to the Colts) (which... that won't go well for the Colts, but that's another story), so instead Florida is starting... Wisconsin's QB from last year (and that also won't go well for Florida, but that's also annn... no, wait, that is a relevant story).

Can’t wait to see how fast Florida fans give up on Mertz
August 31st, 2023 at 5:36 PM ^
To quote an author well known around these parts, "Florida is a sheer unbridled minecart ride of a program."
Should be interesting to see how fast they give up on Mertz as well as Coach Napier.
August 31st, 2023 at 6:00 PM ^
Utah lost Cam Rising's favorite target to the Bills, and Kincaid made a bigger positive contribution than Richardson did.
August 31st, 2023 at 5:02 PM ^
With Cam Rising they crush a Graham Mertz led team. Without him we'll see.

my internet is out at home for some unknown reason. just keep getting texts from spectrum saying there working on it
may have to watch from a local sports bar
darn
August 31st, 2023 at 6:25 PM ^
Is this your excuse to your wife? :)
Pro move. I've pulled this one before.
August 31st, 2023 at 9:31 PM ^
He is correct. I cannot get ESPN with Spectrum because there is some contract dispute with Disney???? Heck of a time for that to happen right before the college football season.
August 31st, 2023 at 10:41 PM ^
Same here and it sucks! Not only all the ESPN channels, but I also found out it affects a channel (SEC Network) I rarely watch unless I'm flipping from game-to-game to check scores during the lengthy commercial breaks.
I tried to take a peek at the Missouri game a while ago and Spectrum has that same message blaming "the Mouse ".
August 31st, 2023 at 11:10 PM ^
Me too. Horrendous- no notice, no nothing! Make sure to call and get $15 credited to your account. So upset.
I have a feeling this is not gonna be resolved anytime soon either. The only alternative Spectrum recommended was Fubo. I guess they have a temporary deal worked out for their customers. 25% off? But, why the fuck should I pay for both?
August 31st, 2023 at 11:58 PM ^
It's a feature not a bug....
August 31st, 2023 at 11:12 PM ^
Jokes on me drjaws. Apologies...
August 31st, 2023 at 4:32 PM ^
Southern Utah @ ASU with the???
Well, it's on the Pac 12 Network on various carriers like Spectrum, Cox, Sling, Fubo, XFinity, etc. But not free on the streamers, you have to pay or get the free trial if you haven't used up that feature yet.
No need to wonder why that conference got blow'd up, SMH.
August 31st, 2023 at 5:34 PM ^
Well well well, looks like two of the colleges (neither in the Big Ten) my daughter is interested in applying to are playing tonight.
August 31st, 2023 at 5:38 PM ^
You beat me, only 1 of the colleges my son is interested in applying to is playing tonight. But he's super primed for 5 days of football!
August 31st, 2023 at 5:56 PM ^
Elon and Wake Forest?
August 31st, 2023 at 6:08 PM ^
Musk be right.
August 31st, 2023 at 11:39 PM ^
Close, Wake and NCSU. She really loves the South despite us living in the Chicago area.
August 31st, 2023 at 7:54 PM ^
I never thought my kids would end up at a B10 college. Not even Michigan (out of state). But miraculously one is graduating next year from the B10 and the other may be too in a few years.
August 31st, 2023 at 6:31 PM ^
Nebraska at Minnesota will be 4K tonight.
Other 4K games this weekend:
ECU- M
Colorado - TCU
Rice -Texas

August 31st, 2023 at 7:16 PM ^
Aaaaahhhhh. Weeknight college football. Feels decadent. Welcome back!
August 31st, 2023 at 7:45 PM ^
I thought Elon was fighting Zuck.
August 31st, 2023 at 7:56 PM ^
Minny vs Nebraska could be a “telling” game worth watching. Also looking forward to Prime vs Sonny.
August 31st, 2023 at 8:07 PM ^
Minny has a nice looking stadium. Seats about 50k.
August 31st, 2023 at 8:08 PM ^
I'm interested in the Florida @ Utah game because it's a SEC vs Mountain West, I mean Pac12, errr Big12 match up.
August 31st, 2023 at 8:11 PM ^
Nebraska's DL looks kind of athletic. No idea what they're doing, but kind of athletic.
August 31st, 2023 at 8:12 PM ^
Lol Florida.
August 31st, 2023 at 8:13 PM ^
Great punt
August 31st, 2023 at 8:13 PM ^
First Big Ten West drive of the year ends with a punt down to the one. The one true outcome of all Big Ten West drives.
