Jimmy King earns Michigan degree, graduates with daughter
Title says most of it. I'm using a Colorado Springs paper because the original article (Detroit News) is subscriber-only:
I don't recall seeing this posted, but ... SIAP.
That's perseverance. Congratulations brother Jimmy! Watched you from afar and that's a great accomplishment. GO BLUE!
It's never too late, Mr. King. You know who else understands this better than any of us outsiders? The other four Fab Five. Bet Juwan was there...
Now that's cool.
Congrats, Jimmy! You and Ray were the glue that held it all together, the unsung guys that picked up the slack and got the rebound, hit the three, made a defensive stand - when it was needed most. What a thrill it was to watch the Fab Five play basketball together!
Also reminds me of the movie Life of the Party...
Cannot imagine starting an undergrad degree at any institution in the early 1990’s and going back to complete it thirty years later.
Spike Lee could make a movie about this.
Congrats to Jimmy and his daughter!
Congrats to Jimmy King and Madison King - Class of 2023!!!
Good for him. Glad he stuck with it and earned that degree!
He better have worn the Air Huarache's whilst moving across that stage.
Appreciate the article and congrats to Mr. King, not only for graduating but for raising a wonderful daughter.
Thats amazing. Jimmy had the best dunks of all the fab five!
This is very true. The man nearly dunked from the free throw line in a tie game with 5 minutes to go in the National Championship game.
Terrific stuff. Thanks for posting.
Normally I post a "Congrats Post" the day after commencement but i was lazy and missed Jimmy in my exhaustive search. Congrats Jimmy!
Shout out to Anne Curzan. She's a worthy choice for dean of LSA.
In 2009, he took 21 credit hours through the University of Phoenix, but only 16 transferred, and he remained eight credits shy of his Michigan degree.
What is it with basketball players and transferring credits! We need a shooting guard with athleticism!
...
Seriously, congratulations to Jimmy and his daughter. The story about the scooter was very funny.
You love to see it!
Congratulations Mr. King and young Madison. Great story. I wonder too who taught that writing class and whether I know them.
Really happy for him and congrats.
Now I'm going to be smiling all day.
Those who stay will be champions.
Great to hear. Fabulous really, in many ways. Thanks for sharing.
This is a very effing cool story!
My wife and her dad graduated on the same day (with identical grade point averages!) roughly 40 years ago. That was always a point of great pride for both of them.
Congratulations to Jimmy and Madison!
What a fantastic Father's Day present!
Congrats to them!
This is wonderful news. Happy for Jimmy King! Those who stay will be champions. Also, those who return will be champions.
You go, Jimmy!!!!!
