The Classic 'heavy Michigan lean' who for some unknown reason never pulls the trigger.
It almost as if their brains are telling them “this is where I’m supposed to be” but their hearts for whatever reason are saying “but I don’t want this.”
The heart wants what the heart wants, isn't that right Laquon....
I seriously doubt that the part of his body that steered him that way was his heart.
Some of these kids just wait too long and end up losing their spot in the class.
Lot of rumblings about the other Smith brother (Jacob).
Both are a take...this very site reported on it not long ago. Saying we could take 4-5 EDGE guys in this class.
EJ and Sam both say he is a take if he wants to join the class.
Felt like a situation where we've been leading too long without a commit for a while now, then insiders started hinting at there being underlying issues. Kind of saw this coming.
I wonder what the 'underlying issues' are.Anyone?
Hoke cooled on him.
NIL is my guess when someone picks an SEC school like this, which I cant blame the kid for. I’d probably do the same
Who?
4 star edge, 247 composite has him ranked 132nd overall with a .9409. Would be a nice get for any team.
I was referring to the actual predictor. I follow recruiting closely enough to be familiar enough to know who, Brian Robinson is.
EJ Holland was hinting he didn't feel good about his prediction to Michigan as well, describing it "as a lot of moving pieces".
We're going to be fine at EDGE. Probably a lot of dominoes about to fall.
Yeah Michigan is in the lead for like 5 EDGE prospects right now, with Mason Curtis being listed as a linebacker but being an EDGE type player himself. At the end of the day, we weren’t going to get one or two of the guys we lead for. Possibly casualty #1 here
This is surprising...if you don't follow recruiting currently or historically. Feels like we have been talking about Robinson not being in the class for forever now.
No, the cb is surprising bcuz Robinson has visited UM 9x. Can’t remember another kid who visited that often and chose somewhere else.
Michigan has a ton of edge targets and this kid in particular doesn't really fit what they typically look for in Edge targets.
Wouldn't be a huge loss imo
Michigan obviously disagrees if they've had him on campus 10× last time being very recent.
Youngstown Ohio is relatively close and there is a lot of mutual interest, hence the number of visits. That does not mean he is a loss or that he is even the highest guy on our board.
We are currently the favorites for Mayo, Nichols, Baxter, Rudolph, and Smith who are all 4 Star DEs.
I really like Rudolph, seems like he could be an elite pass rusher.
Have a hard time finding film on Robinson so don't know what to think.
After having him on campus 10 times they probably said alright commit or don't. Having him on campus 10 more times isn't going to change his opinion, and they have other edge targets they want to devote recruiting resources to.
Robinson stuck to his timeline of not rushing to a decision and is going through the whole process.
he seems amongst their highest rated targets at edge, what part of his game doesn't fit in your opinion?
The opinions of the coaching staff don’t necessarily line up with the opinions of the recruiting rankings. Just because he’s one of the higher rated, doesn’t mean the coaches don’t view one of the lower rated guys as a better player or a better fit. So being “amongst their highest rated targets at EDGE” isn’t really relevant.
Michigan leads for 4 or 5 other EDGE guys at this point. The staff has their own pecking order in mind, and we can’t say what that order is. But to go simply by their place on the recruiting rankings would be really foolish.
There was really nothing else Michigan could have done as Robinson visited 10 times. He stated he is on his own schedule and will not be sped up for any team. Kudos to the kid sticking to his own schedule, sometimes that's how recruiting goes.
In his place, Michigan has 4* Darien Mayo, 4* Jacob Smith, 4* Dominic Nichols, 4* Elias Rudolph and 4* Devon Baxter all within commitment range on their board. On-top of already committed 4* Mason Curtis and 3* Cole Sullivan looking like swiss-army knives that can play LB and pass-rush. I think the EDGE spot is still in pretty good hands regardless.
We got Donovan Edwards because OSU was trying to speed him up. He was an OSU lean (I can't even picture him as a Bucknut) but insisted on sticking to his schedule.
OSU ended up with Henderson and Pryor. We were the big winners as his recruitment turned back to Michigan and the rest is history.
Why is everyone acting like he committed to UK. It was a CB and only one from a UK guy. He already said he was taking all his officials before he picks his school. He might be a silent commit and wants to take in the scenery of other schools. Ole Miss would have hot women waiting for the recruits when they came in and many other schools do the same. If I was a young kid sign me up
OSU fans always made it known he didn’t have an offer from them. Maybe they do know something after all.
I think he's a good player and Michigan would certainly take a commitment from him. But they have many players interested and his timeline may not align with Michigan's. It happens.
Kinda confusing what this crystal ball is based on since he's going into his UK visit. Sam Webb also was saying yesterday that he heard great things from Robinson on his Michigan visit and that nothing has really changed. I think Robinson is still intending on taking all his visits so perhaps this Kentucky insider thinks Michigan's edge class will fill by then?
Gonna take this CB with a grain of salt until I hear info from 247 that supports it
Sometimes it's as simple as "he visited Michigan and didn't commit so I feel better about his chances of coming to UK"
Maybe, but Michigan analysts have been saying they didn't expect a commitment this weekend and that Robinson was intending on taking all his visits for a while
Or maybe its He didn't commit to Michigan and is coming here, if I put in a crystal ball for him and make some vague twitter post maybe I can get a ton of clicks and make money.
Agree. I'm blown away by this.
It was said Michigan pulled all the stops on his visit last week.
BR raved about his trip in the article I just read this morning.
This Mayo may not be a class size issue. Meaning, as noted previously, M is looking to take 5ish EDGE players. Maybe he doesn't want to be in the same class as 4 other players at his position?
But probably NIL.
Not really...
9 visits and never pulled the trigger...something was missing.
Or maybe...JUST MAYBE...the kid was telling the truth when he said he would complete all of his officials before committing.
What a boring take Tot!
No conjecture? No rumors? No Bag Man slander?
What are you even doing here?!
Just saying there was something the kid was looking for Michigan wasn't providing so its not surprising he's looking to go somewhere else. I'm not speculating as to what it was, nor was I saying anything about it was negative, just saying it looked like he wasn't coming.
Or even quicker, check out alum 96's response which said the same thing.
Slow your roll and CHEEELLLL WEEENNNSTON.
Despite saying otherwise, you are "justing saying" speculation. It is one thing to say "it wouldn't be surprising after being the favorite for so long without a commitment" and "something it missing".
What we know is A)we are a favorite (still lead on both 247 and on3) B) Robinson said he will take all his visits...repeatedly C) A Kentucky insider put in a recent prediction. Nothing about that screams "something is missing".
It's actually not surprising. When a school is "the favorite" for months on end and never gets the commit this happens.
We just don’t put enough edges into the NFL guys. Obviously gonna look elsewhere
If he goes to UK, he goes to UK. Next 4* up. It is so nice that this class isn't going to be made (or wrecked) by any one recruit's decision. I suppose if Jadyn Davis looked elsewhere, but otherwise, we good.
I have no idea what Robinson's decision matrix looks like, but if Kentucky dropped a really fat sack of NIL cash in my lap I know I might be tempted to head for Lexington.
So he chose Big Blue? Okay... Picking Kentucky football over Michigan football kinda says you are not really looking to win - you're looking to enhance your personal stats. Which is fine, I wish the kid a great career. Hope he loves him some UK and has a great run on campus.
But if we meet UK in the playoffs, he'll regert his decision.
He hasn't chosen a school yet just some blogger put in a CB for him to pick Kentucky.
That is totally different then what he said after this weekends visit. Pretty sure he takes his officials then commits to Michigan.
Luckett is an outlier here. 247Sports has 100% CBs to Michigan and even On3 has it 58.8% that Robinson is going to select the Block M.
<Warning: My immaturity showing below>
Luckett can suckett.
Yesterday, Sam did seem a bit hesitant when talking about Robinson to Michigan. With so many high recruit EDGE's on Michigan' board, the thing I liked the most about him was the Ohio kid narrative.
I'm wondering if maybe Michigan has a few silent commits at edge and he doesn't want to be part of a 5 man edge class
Got caught up on my DE film watching. I'd put Robinson in my 2nd tier of DE prospects. Would be nice to get him but give me Mayo and Rudolph and I'm happy.
