The Football Transfer Portal Is Now CLOSED*
Okay, technically, I believe it closes at 11:59pm ET, but I'm not staying up another hour to make this thread.
But the portal is about to close, meaning teams with open spots will have wait or fill them with guys that are already in the portal (once you're in, I'm pretty sure the deadline doesn't matter...it's just a deadline to enter).
I share this because...
1. It means you'll be able to breathe a little easier.
2. It means you'll know the names of guys who haven't decided on their future.
...one thing to note, grad transfers are exempt from the portal, so if you're about to harass MSU, I wouldn't waste my time. We don't know who is graduating next month and will be looking to move on.
This is a PSA more than anything.

To close it, does it take Iron Man going through the portal to nuke the Chitari mothership on the other side? Because if so... YAY!... it's shawarma time!
Mmmmm...
Five out of six Avengers like New York's Shawarma Palace.

I don’t find it a waste of my time to harass Sparty, should I feel the inclination. I haven’t forgotten the Dantonio/Narduzzi bad sportsmanship, Spartan Bob, or Aiden losing a fumble TD recovery. I’m just sorry their not losing all their starters to the portal.
And never, ever forget the tunnel assault.
And the Rose Bowl vote in 1973
And when to use they’re, their, and there.
LOL
and never forget what Tropp and Convoy did to Kampfer
This^^^^^^^^^^

Agreed. But I don't think Thorne really is leaving but trying to determine his NIL value, because word was he was far and away ahead of the others, and he won't find a better starting spot.
Rumor on RCMB is either A) Auburn tampered with him. B) He lost the job already.
Sounds like sour grapes.
I hope that's it
So nobody blames Tucker’s inept offense?
I'm on board with that. Trouble with the snap should have never happened. They played not to lose at the end instead of dropping the hammer on them.
Anyone ever notice since Harbaugh has taken over when Michigan wins its usually by 2-3 scores, but when sharty wins its by 3 or 4 points and they need a friggin miracle to happen?
Theyre trash.
That's historically been the case in this series, outside of the RR/Hoke years. Desmond getting tripped, Spartan Bob, etc.
"I’m just sorry their not losing all their starters to the portal."
What?
Nothing new to report from "As the Coach Prime Turns"?
We can still talk about his hat collection. It's way better than Tuck's. Which one does the board think Prime will wear tomorrow?
The white cowboy hat definitely has a "new sheriff in town" vibe. He should stick with that.
I love that he's coaching. It makes Jim Harbaugh less likely to be picked on by the pundits.
It's moot because they can't pick on him now without looking ridiculous. He has achieved every goal and has the program thriving.
Yeah, he’s completed the media hype cycle. The media built him up, then tried to tear him down, but now that he’s established, they will give him the benefit of the doubt.
Ryan Day otoh may be entering the second phase.
Well, I wouldn't say "every goal".
Can I get a late check-out please?
Says the other Spartans still trapped.
*strapped
Plenty of time for a couple more Sparty players to jump in.
I might be wrong, but I think schools have up to 48 hours to process any paperwork submitted by players prior to the April 30 midnight deadline. Anyone know for certain?
You are correct. While it seems like compliance folks were instructed to be available over the weekend since we saw some entries get confirmed pretty much right away, the rule is 48 hours after written notice. In that vein, we may see additional names get announced through the end of Tuesday.
So what happens to guys currently in the portal who didn’t commit anywhere? Are they screwed?
This is my question too. I’m guessing teams have all summer to add players currently in the portal, no more can join the portal? Grad transfers can go regardless of portal.
Non-grad transfers only had to enter the portal as of 11:59:59 p.m. Sunday. They don't have to be committed somewhere yet.
Graduates can enter the portal at any time.
Makes sense. It would be weird if the NCAA only gave them two weeks to choose a school. Of course the NCAA is often quite weird.
and when the music stops....
Can't wait to see how many entered the portal and what percentage of players actually found a new school to play football on a football field with a football (credit to the guy below).
Tom!
Robert W. Wison, Harvard University, Quarterback, Hi Muffy
Yeah, number 72, oh shoot, number 27
Kaleb Brown out of osu is in the portal. Wasn't he heavily crystal balled to us for a long period?
I don't know if he was crystal balled but we pursued him heavily with Tyler Morris. I believe he was close with Gattis so...maybe.
I would take Coleman as the player to be named later for Van Sumerian.
He would look fine catching bombs from JJ in the winged helmet.
Every team would love to add Coleman, who has developed into a likely NFL receiver. SEC lurking.
So everyone got what they’re gonna get now?
I am shocked no offensive lineman transferred out.
Ditto.
It's possible that all five of the starting positions will be up for grabs in a year. Not surprised that the sophomores and juniors would be willing to wait it out for a year and have the chance to start for an award-winning offensive line that will continue to churn out NFL draft picks.
I understand the depth situation but:
-Barnhart and Jones are both from 2019 (same class as Keegan).
-Atteberry and Persi are from 2020 (same class as Zinter).
-Crippen has been hyped as the starting center the last two years just to have transfers swoop in/has to compete with Anderson as well.
Barring injury, How many of those guys will be starting this year? How many would project to next year even. Shocked but pleased.
Pretty sure the person you are replying to was discussing the M$U OL that had yet to see transfers.
This is not true, 97.1 just reported a burning couch from East Lansing has also entered the transfer portal.
