Game thread: Mens Hoops - Michigan at Indiana - 4:30 pm EST tip

Submitted by Amazinblu on March 5th, 2023 at 3:46 PM

The mens hoops team wraps up their regular season at Indiana, broadcast on CBS with an approximately 4:30 pm EST tip-off.

It’s as close to a “must win” as possible, with other action - both inside the B1G and other conference’s play - influencing which teams are in, almost in, on the bubble, last four in, first four out, etc…

Assembly Hall has a lot of history between the Maize & Blue and the Hoosiers.

Hoping for solid play and a win.

Somehow, some way we are not out of this game yet.  But they have to start playing NOW.

I think they are kind of checked out though.  Thursday night was a brutal loss.

The thing with a coaches son.  He has to play harder on D than anyone else, if if he sucks at it, at least has to appear his effort is higher.   Instead, it's the other way.  Juwan has a blind spot here, am sorry to say.  Jace at least seems to hustle, not Jett.

The only silver lining to missing the tournament would be that hopefully it would compel Kobe to stay another year and force Howard to make changes with his assistant. This program needs a lot of work to become national contenders again.

We don’t look very inspired out there. Maybe logging 50 minutes on the road on Thursday vs IU last playing at home on Tuesday will be the difference.

We are young and should have the urgency and athleticism to overcome the fatigue factor.

1 - McDaniel

2 - Bufkin

3 - Howard / TWill as an occasional defense/rebounding sub

4 - Reed

5 - Dickinson

Don't really see any other lineup that's reasonable right now. Other than Reed the bench is just not providing anything

Feels like we should be down by a lot more than we are.

This game could be a slow death of 1000 cuts. Indiana slowly but surely runs Michigan out of the gym.

Not sure why we don't set more screens with the 4-man. When you have a player at a position that isn't skilled offensively, you get them involved in other ways. Setting screens & rolling, being an energy player.

But I guess we've seen how bad our screens have been all year...

Remember when we were coming off a 1 seed and an Elite 8 run with the prospective #1 recruiting class?

And football had just gone 2-4 and people wanted Harbaugh fired?

Amazing how the situations flipped because I’m starting to seriously question Juwan as a coach. Maybe not as a play designer, but his talent evaluation is suspect. There’s four guys in the rotation that are complete negatives.

you know, when we're this bad and getting thumped, in a weird way it makes it easier to watch.  no expectation whatsoever of a win.  looks like we are unfamiliar with the game of basketball.
